Living in Cbus it’s always nice to go to Kings Island. Cedar Point is a voyage too and u gotta be in the mindset to really get goin. Kings Island being an hour and 15 away is just awesome. Great park
This is my home park, and even with Orion not being a new record breaking coaster and Vortex being retired it's still a really great park. You can definitely tell Cedar Fair is pouring money into this park to bring it out of the Paramount days. The craziest thing is this park still has a ton of room for expansion.
I'm so glad you had a good time at KI. I grew up in Cincinnati and now live in Columbus so it's great to have such a well-regarded theme park so close to me; about an hour closer than Cedar Point. I always remember good times going there throughout the 80s and 90s and happy that Cedar Fair is giving it a steady stream of new, awesome coasters.
Thanks man! It's our home park and I'm learning to appreciate it even more now at 45 yrs old thru the eyes of my 11 yr old son. I remember my dad taking me on the original bat and the beast in 1981. You do some amazing videos on theme parks and rides!
My first park I ever went to! I was 6? Or 7 and was tall enough to ride just about everything and it’s what got me hooked on coasters! Still remains my favorite to this day, having 2 of my fav coasters, Banshee & Diamondback!! My dad got me started young lol
If they don’t put a RMC Son of Beast on Vortex’s plot of land right next to The Beast I swear... it’s almost poetic. Plus an RMC would be such a nice edition to the lineup
this is my home park :) I was recommended one of your videos and came to your channel to see if you had any videos on kings island! makes me happy to see and hear your approval of it. I've never been to another big park and I feel lucky to live fairly close to this one
I love Kings Island, but to me it has always been the park of "B+" coasters. Diamondback, Banshee, Beast, and Mystic Timbers are all "very good" rides, but I wouldn't consider any of them to be in the same tier as rides like Skyrush, I305, Fury, Maverick, El Toro, etc. Still one of my favorite parks though, and I can't wait for whatever they're building in 2020.
I personally have Diamondback in my top 10 and Mystic top 20, Banshee also cracks my top 50 and they have that deep B lineup youre talking about after that. The supporting cast isnt perfect or anywhere near Cedar Point's but no park is, this one comes to closest though
@@AirtimeThrills Don't forget about Drop Zone, which is a great drop tower. Too bad they killed Tomb Raider, the original experience sounded pretty cool to me.
KI fanatic since 1988, when I first visited and rode the Vortex at 7 years old. So many of my happiest life moments were spent at this part, and even though I haven't been in years, it will always be the place my heart longs to be the most.
KI is my home park, I live like 10 minutes away, and I agree with you, my top 3 coasters are mystic, diamondback, and the beast. I'm excited to see what Orion is like.
The last time I was there, it was still a Paramount park, but it felt just as good as it did when I was a teenager. Many of my beloved parks as a child don't retain the same luster as an adult. This one does and I can't go wait to go back now that I see all of the expansions and changes.
I grew up at Kings Island! I love watching videos about it. It's about a half hour- fourty five minutes from my house. We used to get gold passes every year. It was still hanna Barbera when I was going as a kid. My brother and I were picked for some live show one year and sang the flying purple people eater. Once it became Paramounts Kings Island it cemented a lot of the ride names in my head and I think of a lot of people in the area still call the rides those names (drop zone became drop tower, face off to invertigo, Itlian job stunt track to backlot stun coaster). We would go to the waterpark in the mornings till 1 or 2, then leave and get pizza at a place called Corkeys that closed down years ago. Best pizza around. I'd say the kids area in the Nick theme was the best, but that just might be because I grew up with it. It's been a few years since I've been, I really want to go back this summer. Nice video man!
While it's understood that Cedar Point is THE roller coaster Mecca, I'm continually surprised how many "enthusiast" overlook The Racer. Now, it wouldn't be fair to ignore the Taft Broadcasting platform of the time, or the exposure of family visits by the Bradys and the Partridges...but, the Racer SHOULD be a "bucket list" ride. The Racer played a pivotal role in revitalizing interest in roller coasters and amusement parks. I'm not fond of making declarative statements, but in this case, I'll make an exception.: I'm not confident that amusement parks would enjoy the success they have, as we know them today, without the unique set of decisions and circumstances that lead to the construction of the Racer. Perhaps I'm wrong, and I can entertain that possibility...I simply find it interesting that this coaster is glossed over by most enthusiast. No one watches an amusement park review video for a history lesson...but to simply say something along the lines of, "Opened with the park, classic woody, rather rough" and move on...vexes me. I do hope you won't take this criticism personally, although the comment is in here in your video, my apologies if this appears to be a rant because it's longer than 128 characters. It would just be nice, for once, for someone to say, "This is where it all began after the Great Depression". Thank you.
I worked at Kings Island for 2 years in Park Services so when I watch these videos, I scan the ground for any sign of trash. Let me just say, I am proud to have worked at such an amazing park. Make sure you can snatch a ride on Orion coming out this year of 2020. #kibestday
RIP vortex :( i loved that ride so much no matter how much it rattled my brain. can’t wait to go to Kings Island again. haven’t been there in 7 or 8 years
I consider Cedar Point my home park since I live in Cleveland, but I make a point to get to Kings Island every other year. When my daughter gets a little older, I want to start doing road trips to more parks with her.
Gotta love some of the hate, it's probably cause its so popular with its fans and all around, plus one of CF's best parks, people are envious. lol. There is more to a park then coasters. This will be a very exciting season for the park, can't wait for opening day! Subscribed!
@@AirtimeThrills Yeah I love it, its awesome! There are many parks much more overrated then this one (sfmm). The atmosphere and energy there seem boring compared to KI.
I did a 4 park trip last year- Cedar Point, followed by Kings Island, followed by Holiday World, followed by Kentucky Kingdom. Kings Island is the only park from those 4 that I don't have a coaster in my top 10. If I was to rank the parks I would rank Cedar Point first, followed by Holiday World, followed by Kings Island, followed by Kentucky Kingdom. I agree with what you are saying about the operations at this park. I also had very short lines for Diamondback, Banshee, and Mystic Timbers. My longest lines were Flight of Fear, Firehawk, and Invertigo. I didn't like Mystic Timbers as much as you did. I prefer Gold Striker to it, and I have yet to ride Thunderhead or Renegade.
I'll be attending a University in 2021 that's just 2 hours from King's Island. I'm excited to know that I'll basically be able to call this my home park. Always been a bucket list park for me.
I currently have this as my #2 favorite park, only behind Hersheypark (I have not been to Cedar Point). I came here in 2014 back when I was still a gp, but my day was fantastic. My only regret was not getting to ride Diamondback because it was broke down for some of the day and busy the rest of the day. My two favorite coasters were of course The Beast and Banshee, with probably The Bat rounding out my top 3.
This is my second favorite park in the Cedar Fair chain behind Cedar Point. I've been wanting to come to this park ever since I saw it on the Travel Channel over a decade ago and especially after visiting its sister park Kings Dominion in 2008 and than again in 2013. I finally got there in 2015 and with the openings of Orion and Mystic Timbers I can guarantee you I'll be going back there in the future (probably after they find a replacement for Vortex first though).
This is the park I grew up with its amazing.. but now I live in Denver I just came from your elitchs review that was great lol I havent been yet it didnt seem that great doubt I will now after watching your vid on it
Well, now that I've been to this park many times since originally watching this, I can say it's absolutely an elite park and really close in ranking for me to the likes of Cedar Point and Dollywood!
For me personally, this isn't an elite park, but I can understand why it is for other people. That said, they have a great coaster lineup. There are 9 coasters here that I thought were very good or great. Only one of them makes my top 25 (Beast at 22), but there are several that aren't far back, including Vortex, which I loved. I was very impressed with Banshee & Mystic as well. Unfortunately for me, I was there on a couple of very busy days in late July 2018. I did get Fast Lane one of the days, which I put to great use.
I've yet to make it out to this park, but am psyched that Orion the Gigga will be added to the stellar lineup they already have by the time I get there. Truly excited. I just love parks with tp their coaster lineups like this. One question. Is Diamondback as similar to Intimidator at Carowinds as it looks from here? The seating and airtime look to be almost identical but I've only ridden Intimidator and one time at that. Are they that similar ? Thanks. Another great vid

Max Theme Parks so true, i can think of at least FOUR american theme parks that have a top 2 or 3, that is better than KIs whole lineup. Basically meaning, if you think MT or DB is the best ride at KI, it would only be 3rd best at at least 4 other parks. KI is overrated

The lineup looks so overrated IMO, also the stereotypes about the fans of this park are kinda true
Max Theme Parks so true, i can think of at least FOUR american theme parks that have a top 2 or 3, that is better than KIs whole lineup. Basically meaning, if you think MT or DB is the best ride at KI, it would only be 3rd best at at least 4 other parks. KI is overrated
Viddying Well witch ones
Cedar Point is one what is the other 3
Why the heck you go to Subway?? There's not a Jersey Mike's around there? Or at least a Jimmy Jon's? Disgusting
Subway is in the park
