Canada's Wonderland - Canada's Biggest Amusement Park - My Experience, 7/12/18

- One year ago today I spent my first and only day at Canada's biggest amusement park, Canada's Wonderland in Vaughan, Ontario, Canada. Here is a recap of my day there and my overall thoughts of this park.
How dare the line be over 20 minutes
Given the context of the day, 20 minutes sucked. Normally it would have been fine
Normal summer days it’s an hour for even some of their shitty coasters so 20 minutes is not bad at all
Me thinking that waiting in line for an hour is totally normal. Man I haven't been to a park in a minute.
Yeah esp since this park is one of the biggest draws in the Cedar Fair chain... only places that ever outdraw it are those that are open for 12 months a year.
I waited 3 hours for Yukon Striker
My home park, I enjoy all the rides. Pro tip don't go in the summer, go on a weekday when the schools are still in. EVERYTHING is a walk on. Did that with a friend back in 2012, Rode Leviathan literally 3 weeks after it opened it was a walk on at park opening. Was able to do all the bigger coasters 3 times each with no fast lane.
Also hopefully by the time you go back Yukon Striker won't have the new WOW coaster that everyone runs to anymore it'll be good but once the newness has worn off you'll not wait hours for it. That said I have ridden several dive coasters and it's drop is by far the best.
They retracted Minebuster this year - and it improved a lot
Theme Park Addiction yea it’s true, it’s actually pretty fun now
They are foing to do it again in 2022
I love the roughneess on minebuster coz it gives great airtime
Now we can no longer refer to it as the Spinebuster?
Wonderland is 30 minutes from downtown Toronto, but if your in north Toronto it's like 5 - 10 minutes depending on traffic and how fast you drive.
Side note - I think this park has a license with Coke and Subway's in Canada serve pepsi. I imagine Subway wasnt allowed to have Coke machines.
Rewatching this and I’ve just realised if you come to England you will hate the lines in summer every single ride is over an hour
Fun fact: When it opened, Flight Deck was called Top Gun, obviously named after the movie because Canada’s Wonderland was still under Paramount Parks back then
Canadas Wonderland has the best flat ride collection of any amusment park.
Every local leaves the park to get subway across the street. It's tradition. Way cheaper. The two kids areas are connected as one btw.
It’s my home park so I know how bad it was before Behemoth. That’s how I discovered Cedar Pt and Darien Lake (with Ride of Steel). With Cedar Fair takeover and 3 B& M’s later, CW is heading in the right direction. Yeah, Flight Deck and Time Warp need to be tossed into the scrap yard!!
Flight deck used to be called top gun
I came here in 2005 and again in... I want to say 2012? I got to ride Flight Deck when it was Top Gun, and it was a little bit better back then, but it was still an SLC lol
Also rode Minebuster in 2005, and it was *definitely* better than when you went.
I just realized that you uploaded this video a year later and i was wondering, where is Yukon Striker!
Haha one year ago today!
My home park. I agree with everything you said 😃.
It's funny o hear your thought about Wonderland. As a child who grew up as having this be my main park, Flight Deck was considered one of the best coasters...probably because it was somewhat thrilling. The two kids areas were because where Ghoster Coaster is was "Hanna Barbara Land" with Scooby Doo and Friends around. Planet Snoopy was Beadrock. The closest thing we have to another park is Darian Lake, so Wonderland was always incredible for a lot of us. Although, now as an adult I understand where the park lacks, and whatnot.
One thing that you should know is that Minebuster had a re-tracking in 2019 and is running really smooth know.
That explains why I’m so confused. The mine buster is one of my favourite rollercoasters- and I don’t like many rollercoasters so
I wouldn’t say there aren’t a lot of good coasters but there are a few bad ones (time warp, flight deck, wild beast) but other than that all are decent to great
Yep, pretty much how most enthusiasts feel about the park. It's my home park, but I feel no offence from any negative comments people make. I'd love to see RMC Wilde Beast, but apparently there's a law requires anything to be built by Canadian companies (something like that I think), and that's supposed to somehow prevent RMC from building a coaster here. But I have to wonder why RMC can't just use a Canadian company to build their coaster. Does RMC require that their own team build the ride?
Edit: just saw a comment mentioning the part of the video mentioning this law. And a comment in this thread mentioned that RMC's work isn't something a Canadian company can do. This is encouraging if there truly is no company that can do a coaster conversion.
I wonder how possible it would be to allow another company to do it. And if it is, if RMC would even consider it
@@canadianbacon1726 not sure if its just a rampant rumor but I've heard it many many times from multiple people
RMC has done work in Canada, they have done Topper Track on Le Monstre (The Monster) at La Ronde. So I don't see why they could not do an RMC conversion on Wild Beast or Mindbuster.
warallthetime I am not sure but I think it has something to do with B&M working with Canadian companies somewhere down the line
@@terdog3463 When did they do a topper track on Le Monstre? La Ronde is my home park and I go every year, but I have no recollection of anything being done to it.
Terrance and Philip reference, haha.
Wonder mountain scared me cuz i had a fear of the dark as a kid lol
Subway with no drinks? HUH?
Seriously bizarre
Airtime Thrills 🤔🤔
There are like 2 other subways I believe in the park with drinks. First time hearing that the kids subway doesn't have any drinks.
Airtime Thrills TIP: Never go to Wonderland any time near Canada Day. Absolutely packed. You can’t move
@@willpitts5223 I went to Panera one time and they were out of BREAD. I went to Wendy's last week and they were out of BURGERS. You had it easy. :P
I've been going to Wonderland for the last 30 years. You are completely nuts. With the exception of Wildbeast, all of the coasters you hated are my favourites. Side note, "Canadian" bacon is something Americans created and you can't even buy it in Canada.
Airtime thrills: "I can't wait to revisit the park in 2020."
Covid19: *hehe "Yeaaaa about that....
as this being my home park I can safely say you are right that a big amount of there coasters aren't great but Yukon striker is a fun good ride and the park is slowly getting better
I love watching my home park getting duped to shreads
Interesting how Canada's Wonderland has the best (Behemoth, Leviathan and Yukon Striker) and worst (Flight Deck, Time Warp, Wild Beast and Mighty Canadian MInebuster) among roller coasters. Some have nicknamed MCM the 'Spinebuster'.
Jason Maier I actually loved mine buster, If you ride near the front it’s awesome, probably my number 5 in the park
@@cn2673 same and so is minebuster
I feel height isn't what makes it good, but I feel it's more whether you're actually willing to enjoy it despite the roughness
@@cn2673 agreed they used to be mega rough but now it's so much better
@@cn2673 yeah I heard WMG got an upgrade, and Yukon Striker is sure to up the rating by a long shot
I think you just got a bad day here! When I went I thought it was great but that might be because I’m a sucker for flat rides and so I spent two days there and did all the flats.
Your experience at Canada's Wonderland was horrible. If you really did not want to be dissapointed, i'd say 2 days at the park would have been a safe call, because of how many credits you need to grab. The park has so many amazing flat rides that make the experience much better, and Yukon Striker is a great new coaster with a pretty good amount of theming. +, Leviathan seems to be running better than last year. I think if you had more time to enjoy the park, if you did not go on a relatively crowded day, you would've had a much more positive experience. In my opinion, it is one of the better Cedar Fair parks, and you just went to the park on a bad day.
Edit: It also does not help that half of the coaster lineup is basically garbage aswell.
Next time I can skip some of the crap rides and focus more on some of the flats
Airtime Thrills Also Guardian has a lot of downtime. My brother loves the ride and has had it break down 3 times.
The only crap coasters in the park imo are The Bat, Flight D###, Spine warp, silver streak, and wild beast
@@AirtimeThrills I would HIGHLY suggest really planning a perfect day here, with everything in consideration including the amount of. time you spend in the park, the weather and even the actual date, because there tend to be surges of busyness. Like Rainbow Aeroz said, a lot of rides have been updated/improved, and now we have Yukon Striker, which I think is amazing. I also think some of the disappointment came from you using "family ride" and "bad ride" interchangeably. Ones like The Fly, Ghoster Coaster, and Thunder Run are targeted towards kids, and you can literally see in this video that there are younger kids enjoying these rides. We also now have Lumberjack, which I think is my favourite flat ride in the whole park, and I would push you to get on Sledgehammer next time.
@@AirtimeThrills go on a slightly rainy day it’s like a walk on for everything
Hey, just wanna say that Canadian bacon is not ham. Everywhere in the USA serves ham and calls it Canadian bacon. Next time you go, buy peameal bacon from a grocery store. It's a big slab of pink bacon covered in corn meal. It is AMAZING.
Also, while I agree there isn't much at Canada's Wonderland. It is my home park and it's what we've got. It was also a great park to grow up with, so very kid friendly.
SledgeHammer is by far my favourite flat ride, but it breaks down A LOT.
What strap do you use for the recording glasses
I got lucky when I went. The park was empty since everyone was in downtown Toronto for the Raptors parade so I was able to ride all the terrible coasters quickly without wait and then spend the rest of my afternoon riding Behemoth, Yukon Striker and Leviathan.
Yes we are very voilent in hockey :(
late to this too very late this is my home park just wish it would improve and I like how Cedar Fair is taking it to its Canadian roots and Paramount failed to do. Even though this is the most attended seasonal theme park in North America and this is one of only two major parks in the country along with La Ronde in Montreal and the rest are small and irrelevant family run parks and of course the hidden gem and dark horse in this country is mind bender in galaxy land at the west Edmonton mall
I made the same mistake at Fiesta Texas in 2021. I bought a Flash Pass, only to not need it.
You kinda nit picked on leviathan for the final brake run tbh It does not matter that much and I don’t know if you have seen EltoroRyans video on why the brake-runs are big on b&m gigas
minebuster is awesome!!! lol im sorry you didnt like it but frankly canadians are lucky to have this park! but everyone hates it lmao
I rode a similar ride to Time Warp at Coney Island. No. Just no. Luckily it was closed when I went today. But everything else except Cyclone is by zamperla I think. Thunderbolts restraints and operations today were atrocious. And we got a rough ride. I’ve never been to Canada’s wonderland but I want to.
Ive ridden the Cyclone but skipped the other coasters last time I was there. I know I'm not missing much
this sounds like an unfortunate experience and I can't wait for you to get back when Yukon is there. use the single rider line on Yukon and go early in the year to avoid big lines. also, try Minebuster on a non-wheel seat, because it's in my top 5 at the park.
"I definitely want to come back in 2020"
*sad trombone plays*
Skipping the flat rides at Wonderland is like removing the icing from a cupcake. While the coaster line up is pretty decent now with Yukon Striker, it's really the flat rides that make the park. (Imo the waterpark isn't bad either, but it does tend to get super crowded on warmer days)
Yeah, next summer I hope to make up gor that
"Canadian bacon" is just peameal bacon (not ham).
If I could compare this park to the Action Park I would say this is more popular than that
Wild Beast and Flight Deck are the absolute worst rides in the park. So rough.
Fast pass is definitely not worth it at Wonderland. Week days are the best days to go there, line ups are shorter.
honestly justin bieber is a really good person when you get past the media and actually watch his interviews and understand his morals and values as a person. he’s just so famous and whenever he makes a mistake it’s put on blast by 10,000 poor guy. he really tries. plus he grew up with the worlds pressure on his back as a kid.
OK BUT NOW COASTERS lol
Im sorry your day was not great here.. Come back sometime, im sure it will be better!
The weird thing is I've been to Canada's Wonderland like 50 times and the only time I've waited more than 5-20 minutes is for a new ride, and that's without fast lane
My lord ur so lucky I always have to wait an hour for leviathan and it sucks.
One time I waited 40 minutes for leviathan, that's the longest I got
So I did some research and I figured out RMC can work in Canada. What they would do is they would send over the steel and send over some employees from RMC and hire some local contractors to build The ride well being monitored by the RMC employees.
Its unconventional but I like it
CHOOSE A RAINY DAY!!!, its like fast-lane just no people getting in your way, more rides include Fast-Lane but I don't recommend it, you should definitely go on more flat rides, I went 2 days ago and it called for thunderstorms but it rained for 4 minutes at most, the longest line was the Yukon Striker for only 8 minutes, the lines were great and the Leviathan is a great ride to ride back-to-back, the Yukon Striker is not scary AT ALL, but is really smooth and kind of relaxing.
Canada is nice, but the fight that is happening, both teams aren’t from Canada, so that part is a bust.
the toll roads are simple
you go onto the road and thats it
there are cameras everywhere so it takes your license plate and bills you to your home and yes non Ontario plates will be billed
Comes to Canada and scouts for RMC
It sounds like you did have some bad luck there. I saw this as a 2-day park. The first day was all about just picking up all the credits, especially the ones that you couldn't use fast lane on. Then, get fast lane on the 2nd day, so that I could get tons of rides on the good ones. Minebuster got some work done in the off-season, and it was riding great for me, but it's best to ride in the middle row of a car for the smoothest ride. It sounded like the people in the 1st & 3rd rows of each car weren't getting as good of a ride as I had. Wild Beast is still total trash! I am one of those crazy people who really liked Time Warp. I wedged myself into position really tight, going one step further up than I thought I needed. I got no head/ear banging. I didn't get tossed around at all, and the ride was quite enjoyable. But I still only did 1 ride per day. I actually bypassed a very long line on Time Warp on my fast lane day.
One thing I really liked about Canadas Wonderland took place on my opening day. I arrived several hours earlier than planned on the day before my planned Day 1, so I got to the park at 4pm, and it started raining shortly after arriving. Despite the rain, they kept everything up and running that could operate in the rain. Even as the rain got heavier, they kept the rides going. Many parks won't do that. Time Warp had literally nobody in line, which was good, because I couldn't figure out how I was supposed to get into that prison cell. Yukon Striker was just too fast to do more than a couple rides in the heavy rain, but the line was very short.
Did you ever make it back to the park since that last video? I know 2020 wasn't an option.
I haven't, but plan on doing so this summer
Most people do think that Canada's Wonderland is one of the top Cedar Fair amusement parks, and it definitely is, for me at least, since it is my home park (I take no offence if you had a bad experience here, because I know it can happen for sure). And of course, because Canada's Wonderland is the most popular and most visited Cedar Fair amusement park in the entire chain, it can get extremely packed, and that is a huge emphasis on packed. Even more than Cedar Point, which surprises me. If you do go to the park on a lighter day, it is a much better experience. I went in early May, when it was pretty cold and rained for a bit, and there was absolutely no one, which was awesome cause I got 6 rides on Yukon Striker, and I think 4 or 5 on Behemoth and Leviathan. I thought Leviathan and Behemoth ran a bit slower of course, cause it was colder, so I can't complain, and Yukon Striker I thought ran pretty well for colder weather. Now about the fast lane thing, that is weird as heck, and is insanely stupid on why the park did that. Now for me I don't use fast lane, so I don't want to confirm if they do this all the time.
I've always had great experiences here: met some great staff, rode some great rides, and loved the atmosphere. The one thing I hate is most of the GP. Some teenagers are extremely dumb and too aggressive sometimes. Once I was in line for Leviathan and some kids were just pushing each other, and goofing off, when they could easily bump into me. And they were teenagers. Hopefully you can have a better experience and ride the major coasters when they are running a bit better.
I definitely blame my lack of knowledge for part of the reason I didnt have the best time here. As for fast lane, some rides just arent set up to use it, it was just crazy how those rides happened to be the ones that werent total walkons
If people have a bad experience with the GP here, AVOID LARONDE AT ALL COSTS! Taylor from Coaster Studios said that when he went, he had the worst experience with the GP. He kept getting line jumped, and the ride ops did nothing about it. Also, there were kids around school age that were running around in the bathroom, and their dad wasn't doing anyting about it. Taylor couldn't tell them to stop since, being in Quebec, the majority of people that go to LaRonde speak French.
@@Valhalla05 For the most part, Canada's Wonderland is better with the GP imo
Paramount all but ruined that park... that and some bs about the b&m invert which is totally bogus... 200 miles from cedar point lands you in the middle of lake Ontario... It is a shame about the rmc conversions but maybe gci?
GCI may make them smoother, not sure how good the rides would be even if they were smooth
Is GCI also an american company?
Why the hell does most of the coasters have no fastlane. 😡
What's the point of buying a fastlane pass if it's restricted on half the rides? That seems pointless and idiotic. (from the park, not YOU)
Go there again this year
Terrible review.... this fascination with RMC is just plain sick.... I *PREFER* wooden coasters for the feedback when you ride them... stuff like Leviathan is fast but because it is so smooth it is far less fun. I dont know what all these online reviewers have such a woody for RMCs these days. Also since so many people keep talking about this; there is NO CANADIAN LAW against RMC (RMC *has* retracked coasters in Canada already). The regulations are for ONTARIO (PROVINCIAL) under the Technical Standards and Safety Act for Amusement Devices.
Being that I've never ridden a Giga from B&M. I feel like Orion will be my definitive test on if B&M is better than intimine since Millennium Force are around the same size
Honestly Ive been to Wonderland many many times since my first trip as a kid in 96'. I have never had a bad time. The only ride i can agree on is Wild Beast. It was really damn rough even for my dad. I have heard it is updated though. I only skipped it my last two visits because friends wanted to just keep riding behemoth and leviathan lol.
I’m on a road trip and for the past 2 hours I’ve been binging your videos. I was jw what would be the biggest amusement park letdown was that you’ve ever visited ?
Dollywood 2018. Probably the day i went in with high expectations and left pretty pissed off
Don’t forget drake!
wonderland is a great park. your problem is you only focus on the coasters. the flat ride collection is great and with a fast lane plus you could've went on more rides than you did(i always get to go on all the rides including multi rides on leviathan and behemoth). i really don't mind wild beast or mindbuster but I have to agree on the Vekoma slc that thing is horrible with those restraints.
I hope you have a better expirience next time! Canadas wonderland is my favourite amusement park just because its the best park in Canada and I live there so I enjoy it cause its a great park in a country I live in and the rest seem like trash here, also one thing I have to say the water there looks absolutely disgusting
If you hadn’t done a road trip In 2018 I would have liked you to do a top 15 bucket list parks
Those don't seem like long waits
I'm from the area, been a while since I've been there, but now that I'm a little more familiar with the sort of reputations various rides have, my main thought is '"oh god why did they put a Volare and an SLC in the same park?"
And a boomerang, while we're at it?
You buy a flash pass when there's only a wait of 20minutes? For me 20 minutes is a short wait. A lot of times I have to wait between 1 and 2 hours for a rollercoaster
Edit: I've never been to America, so maybe it's different than in Europe
Nothing different, he was just on a time crunch. This was part of his meticulously planned, 3.5-week-long cross-country trip. He wanted to knock out all of the coasters because he had to get to Darien Lake, which is back in America.
I completely agree with your PSA. NO ONE WANTS TO SEE THOSE DUMB SELFIES NO MATTER HOW COOL THEY MAY LOOK!
totally forgot shawn mendes😡🥺
My days were so much better there
Yes Terrance & Phillip!!! Don't forget they still haven' t apologized for Bryan Adams
this park is a great example of why I think the concept of getting every credit in the park is a stupid concept
I dont wanna not experience a coaster (that being said, I skip the kiddie coasters for the most part) but yeah next time I'm there it'll be less credit driven
true, why should I ride an SLC if there are good coasters in the Park? That's not worth the time and that' also why I don't credit
Exactly, I don’t focus theme park trips on credits because I want to have the best experience possible, which means not riding some of the terrible rides. For example, at Cedar Point, I just skipped Corckscrew because I didn’t feel like having a headache and the layout didn’t look all that worth it.
@@flo5726 Don't knock Top Gun, er... Flight Deck, it has it's charms. They're a little violent, but charms nonetheless.
Some of those flats rides looked a lot cooler than the kiddie coasters
You think 20 minutes Lines are Long? :D
I had to wait over 90 minutes to ride Taron last Time. But I guess it was a good decision from the Park that you can't use your Quick Pass there . Otherwise Most people would just buy the QP for Taron which results in a much longer Line.
Single Rider Lines are probably the best solutions for rides with a low capacity or extreme Attendence. And It's probably the Same Thing with Canadas Wonderland
In context, every Fast Lane ride was a walkon, and the non FL rides were 20-30 minutes. So normally 20 would be fine but given the context, it sucked.
Airtime Thrills Yikes. That sucks. There are parks like CP that execute it way better. The only coaster that had a long line that I wasn’t able to use fast lane on was Iron Dragon, so we waited 10 min before the park closed and it was a walk on. The day we didn’t have the fast lane and wanted to ride SteVe, it was convenient because fast lane isn’t available when the park immediately opens, which means no fast lane users taking up our time.
Flight deck is a religion everyone I know here in Canada rides that one first to warm up
brandan booce that and the woodies

Canada's Wonderland by far has the biggest collection of bad coasters and an unpopular opinion but I love the Minebuster.
I went to Canada Wonderland in 1998. We thought we were going to fall out of some of the coasters.
Sounds like you caught the park on a bad day. I've got a season pass, and I definitely get my money's worth.
Next year I'll be going in with more knowledge and a better game plan so I'm sure it'll be better
@@AirtimeThrills I'm glad to hear this. Most would be one and done. Thank you.
@@AirtimeThrills I've also heard from other reviewers that Minebuster's gotten a lot better for oddly unknown reasons (its gotten on a few top lists recently but no one know seems to know how or why the ride got better)
@@AirtimeThrills If you know what year you'll be hitting the park in, you can actually save yourself money even on a single visit by buying a season pass ahead of time for that year, because they sell the seasons pass for less than single admission price early year. Then you can bring a guest with you for like $25CAD if I remember correctly, bringing your total admissions for two people to just over what you would pay for one.
It hurts hearing you trash my "local" park but I must admit your criticisms are super valid.

Ah yes, the Mighty Canadian SpineBuster.
Both of those coasters need the RMC treatment, but now and then I'll go on just to see if I can still take the beating.
Will you be at kennywood tommorow
I wish, but no.
Your dreams came true
In 2022 mighty canadian minebuster is getting rmc
In 2023 they are replacing time warp AND probably flight deck is getting replaced with an intamin launch coaster
I think your review is dead on. The top 2 both look good but they are not the best Giga or Hyper. I know you like Drop Coasters a little more than myself, so Yukon Striker would only be an OK coaster for me, and I would get frustrated waiting in a long line for it. Nice to hear how good Vortex is. The park looks like it has some just horrible coasters- the 2 woodies, Flight Deck, and Time Warp. I think your next experience will be better if you hit up those flat rides as they look good.
Thanks, and yeah next time I wont be focused on riding the coasters since I already have. More time for the good coasters and flat rides
I have almost every single credit at cw as it was my home park for 9 years and I still visit it yearly the only credits I have not gotten yet are youkon striker and wonder mountains guardian as I don't consider it a true credit and don't want to waste my time on some dumb ride with terrible ops. Anyway my plan for future visits to wonderland is to get on every single flat ride in the park if anyone has any recommendations for the best ones please tell me
Edit I got on youkon and guardian and they were about what I had expected youkon is a great number 3 and I'm probably never getting on guardian again

It'll come, Ive been slow with these videos but need to pick it up a little since that trip was a year ago
@Timothy Zehler i actually really liked my time at DL
How was that with the RMC thing with that law? I don’t get it. (7:08)
RMC likes to use their own people to build their rides. Canada says that theyre not allowed to do that when there are Canadian companies that can perform the same task. Unless RMC wants to allow another company to take the reins, doesnt sound like RMC is plausible for Canada
@@AirtimeThrills We have unions for things like steel workers here in Canada. It wouldn't be fair to any of them to allow people from another country to just walk in and take work from them like that and bypass the whole union.
We also have really good weed here in Canada 😀

This was last year, they were barely clearing land for Yukon
