dear imran, thank you for taking time to explain these concepts to us.I am in day , my question is , can we us a simulator to like GNS3 or Cisco packet tracer to practice these configurations as some of us dont have physical access to these routers . Godbless
The console cable is rollover instead of crossover as you said. I thought I might point that out, since it can confuse people. Crossover is used to connect to the Ethernet ports of the router, where the networking communications takes place. Rollover cable is used to connect the PC to the console port of the router where the terminal communications take place.

Awesome video - one point I need to pick on is that console cables are not called crossover cables. Its an important distinction. They're separately called console / crossover cables respectively and are used for different purposes. It's a small but important detail :)

Hello, I am using 2911 router to connect it to switch. For that I need ethernet port which is not available as I have used all ports to connect other devices. I've added GLC-LH-SMD module but not able to connect it to switch. What can I do?

After clicking okay on putty configuration, how did you go to iso command line interface? I clicked okay, nothing happened except a black terminal window which was popped up. I don't have any usb port, so i even used virtual serial port driver.

why Dont you give it a try !! Do you have a router at your home ..
use an emulator. GNS3 Network Emulator is a good one and it's free.. It even comes with a trial of Wireshark.
