    Hey everyone! Thank you for sticking with me! This was a long time ago and I still stand by everything I said in this video but my views have changed SLIGHTLY.
    Number 7: 6:20 I spoke about abstaining from petrolatum HOWEVER I now use it with great success BECAUSE I shampoo it out (as recommended in the video). I still use the other sealants I mentioned but petrolatum is a staple in my regimen because it seals in moisture better than everything else.
    You can view my updated ideologies HERE: ua-cam.com/video/ndz9cjcCQHE/v-deo.html

    Thank you for adding in "Ladies...and gents." A lot of naturals address and greet their viewers as though all are female and don't acknowledge that there could be a guy watching. I know it seems small and insignificant, but it really does mean a lot. Thanks anyhow and great vid btw😊

      Josh George well the NH movement is primarily for black women so if a channel only acknowledges women and they are women, you can't blame them.

    I just want to point out that grease doesn't slow down or stop hair growth. I put sulfur 8 on my scalp almost daily and my hair is thriving. (1.5 inches of growth in abt 3 months) I also use blue magic grease to seal in moisture. I wish this grease bashing in the natural community would stop. I wasted time and money buying fancy oils for years because I was afraid of using grease.

      I use grease to seal in moisture. Besr thing I've ever done. Hair growing and retaining its length. Oils don't work on my hair

      We have to keep in mind, everyone is scalp and hair is different. What works for one person may not work for others. I'm glad grease works for you. Grease makes my scalp an itchy mess. Although Sulfur 8 has healing properties for dandruff so its not an average grease.

    I wish I could take care of my hair better but 1. I dont have a source of income because I cant get a job yet (not of age), so I cant buy hair products necessary for my hair 2. Everyone else in my house has straight, oily hair and they can use regular shampoos and conditioners with sulfates and silicones and 3. When I attempt to educate my mother about the difference of my hair and why I need a certain hair product she says "You been on the internet too much" or "Just use what we have."

    • @darcydd1
      @darcydd1 7 років тому +31

      hi, use the shampoo once or twice a month (every two weeks) to cleanse your scalp. in the mean time use the conditioners only. let it sit in your hair for 15-30 mins and then rinse clean. use a wide tooth comb and part your hair into 6-8 sections. detangle with the comb. then use a leave in conditioner (your mom ma have some) if you have access to olive oil use a few drops of it and massage it into each section then twist or braid. if you receive any allowance try to get to the store and pick up coconut, grape seed, or jojoba oil. you can use these to seal in moisture.

    • @sonaiwyche
      @sonaiwyche 7 років тому +15

      my mom has relaxed hair and she said the same thing. when i started transitioning I watched tons of youtube videos and they all said you have to use shampoo with no sulfates to have healthy hair. I became obsessed with trying to find sulfate free shampoo because I'm natural and this is what i need to have healthy hair. but really though, you don't necessarily need shampoos without sulfates. do a prepoo regimen (with oil) and it'll lessen the effect of the sulfate stripping away your hair's natural oils and drying out your hair. and you don't need any special conditioner either. just use the one you have at home. more expensive ones might work better, but your hair will also do well with normal conditioner.

      If you don't lose a lot of hair or experience damage while combing and/or brushing, then keep doing it. Do yooou!

    • @nnekadowney6549
      @nnekadowney6549 7 років тому +7

      Simply Shaye I use grease the dax and my hair is bra strap length. don't use grease thing is a myth. it seal in moisture better than oils. oils dry the heck out of my hair. the thing is do what works for you.

    • @EfikZara
      @EfikZara  7 років тому +1

      +Nneka Downey Do what works for you yes but if a person is not ready to shampoo, he or she should not use hair grease. It does not dissolve in water so improper use can be detrimental.

    • @nnekadowney6549
      @nnekadowney6549 7 років тому +5

      Shampoo and grease is not the problem. Mothers have been using it for decades and it is a proven superior sealant. There are chemicals used in facial creams that are used to clean engines. So do what works for you sweetheart. As for me soap and hair grease are my saving grace. Hair is moisturized and clean. Chicoro wrote a book about growing hair check it out.

    • @EfikZara
      @EfikZara  7 років тому +5

      +Nneka Downey Lol you're misunderstanding what I'm saying ma'am. Shampoo is not a problem. I'm merely advising that if one wants to experiment with grease, not using shampoo (which many naturals try) is not an option, as the chemical properties of grease do not allow it to dissolve in water without a surfactant.
      All I'm saying is babes gotta shampoo to get that grease out for the next cycle and shouldn't forget it, lol.

    • @nnekadowney6549
      @nnekadowney6549 7 років тому +5

      I agree with you. I just don't understand how this not using grease propaganda became so main stream. You tube is becoming a breeding ground for false prophets of mis information. If you moisturize and seal properly when you shampoo your hair will not feel as stripped. I shampoo once a week with a moisture shampoo and clarify once a month and my hair is thriving. Natural oils sit on my hair and dry it out so I went back to what works best.

    This was informative! I rarely or never do the things listed. I wash my hair maybe once a month. (Okay, I'm playin. Maybe once every 2-3 months depending on how busy I am?I have a lot of hair, and washing, hour long protein treatment, hour long deep conditioning, detangling, blow drying and flat ironing is an all day affair!) It doesn't seem to affect it though. And my hair is a little above mid back. I want it to grow longer, like hip bone length. So I'm really trying to find new things I can do to help further promote long, healthy thick hair.

    My puff looks like yours but when I do a puff I get a lot of knots because of the shrinkage, I'm mid back length , what do you do to stop the knots?

    • @xshesyourqorqeousxx3

      Ladeana Horton keep your hair in a stretched state. I have thick 4c hair so I put my hair in 6 mini puff/buns to help keep my hair stretched if I'm too lazy to do twist or Bantu knots

    My hair don't is dont go too long without any hair maintenance (unless its in a weave or braids) even if its to spray the hair with a little water and maybe add some conditioner or oil.

    I use the LOC method too moisturize my hair which is a liquid(water) and oil like coconut or olive and then cream or a butter and for my scalp I use jojoba and tea tree oil when it’s dry and need moisture two strand twists or plaits are my always protective low manipulation style😊☺️🤗

  • @DaDoll218
    @DaDoll218 7 років тому +2

    why does your hair hate coconut oil btw/ just curious. & thx for sharing! someone recently told me about shampooing with a clarifying shampoo every so often to clear the scalp so i'm glad to hear that was a suggestion of yours.

    • @EfikZara
      @EfikZara  7 років тому +1

      +BelleAfrique Lol lowkey I should make a vid about my coconut oil struggles but my understanding is that because I am extremely protein sensitive, the properties that allow coconut oil to mimic protein, retain excess protein, and etc... do not play well with my hair. The result (for me) is SUPER dry, stiff, dull, straw-like hair! While coconut being evil is a new discovery for many, I've hated it for years, lol.

    • @EfikZara
      @EfikZara  7 років тому +1

      +BelleAfrique For the record, my issues are not related to an allergic reaction... I can apply it to my skin with favorable results.

    • @ailineacosta3705
      @ailineacosta3705 7 років тому

      BelleAfrique My hair is Low porosity and hate everything that has coconut because coconut retains proteins and low porosity hair doesn't like and doesn't need protein.

      No, not in your dreams. Your hair will continue to grow, I can assure you that if you keep up a good hair care regimen for two years, that goal would be realistic.

    I used to wash my hair every two weeks and conditioned it every week but I don't have enough time now since I'm a full time student and a full time mother. So I mainly just wet it every time I'm in the shower and when I have time do all in one day along with a hot oil treatment and it actually works wonders I don't have to moisturise it as much as I did before
