Hey everyone! Thank you for sticking with me! This was a long time ago and I still stand by everything I said in this video but my views have changed SLIGHTLY. Number 7: 6:20 I spoke about abstaining from petrolatum HOWEVER I now use it with great success BECAUSE I shampoo it out (as recommended in the video). I still use the other sealants I mentioned but petrolatum is a staple in my regimen because it seals in moisture better than everything else. You can view my updated ideologies HERE: ua-cam.com/video/ndz9cjcCQHE/v-deo.html
Thank you for adding in "Ladies...and gents." A lot of naturals address and greet their viewers as though all are female and don't acknowledge that there could be a guy watching. I know it seems small and insignificant, but it really does mean a lot. Thanks anyhow and great vid btw😊
I just want to point out that grease doesn't slow down or stop hair growth. I put sulfur 8 on my scalp almost daily and my hair is thriving. (1.5 inches of growth in abt 3 months) I also use blue magic grease to seal in moisture. I wish this grease bashing in the natural community would stop. I wasted time and money buying fancy oils for years because I was afraid of using grease.
It’s only the petroleum in it that makes me side eye it. It’s fine if you wash every week though. I don’t get hating on someone for what they put on their scalp though
We have to keep in mind, everyone is scalp and hair is different. What works for one person may not work for others. I'm glad grease works for you. Grease makes my scalp an itchy mess. Although Sulfur 8 has healing properties for dandruff so its not an average grease.
I'm guilty of tip #6. I touch my hair way too much, and manipulate alot. I have been protective styling to control myself and it's been helping greatly with hair growth.
I wish I could take care of my hair better but 1. I dont have a source of income because I cant get a job yet (not of age), so I cant buy hair products necessary for my hair 2. Everyone else in my house has straight, oily hair and they can use regular shampoos and conditioners with sulfates and silicones and 3. When I attempt to educate my mother about the difference of my hair and why I need a certain hair product she says "You been on the internet too much" or "Just use what we have."
otaku.hai sounds like you are biracial then. Puerto Rican is not a race. There are black Puerto Ricans, white, mixed, etc. Sounds like you described a black dad and white mom.
hi, use the shampoo once or twice a month (every two weeks) to cleanse your scalp. in the mean time use the conditioners only. let it sit in your hair for 15-30 mins and then rinse clean. use a wide tooth comb and part your hair into 6-8 sections. detangle with the comb. then use a leave in conditioner (your mom ma have some) if you have access to olive oil use a few drops of it and massage it into each section then twist or braid. if you receive any allowance try to get to the store and pick up coconut, grape seed, or jojoba oil. you can use these to seal in moisture.
my mom has relaxed hair and she said the same thing. when i started transitioning I watched tons of youtube videos and they all said you have to use shampoo with no sulfates to have healthy hair. I became obsessed with trying to find sulfate free shampoo because I'm natural and this is what i need to have healthy hair. but really though, you don't necessarily need shampoos without sulfates. do a prepoo regimen (with oil) and it'll lessen the effect of the sulfate stripping away your hair's natural oils and drying out your hair. and you don't need any special conditioner either. just use the one you have at home. more expensive ones might work better, but your hair will also do well with normal conditioner.

Make sure your vitamin D and iron levels are good. I took these supplements for health reasons together with multivitamins and my hair has grown a lot in a month.
Kehinde Rowland There are many different ways to finger detangle so it is possible the way you are doing it is not necessarily effective for you hair? Maybe I will make a vid on different types of finger detangling. If you don't lose a lot of hair or experience damage while combing and/or brushing, then keep doing it. Do yooou!
Omg , I can't believe you're from Akwa Ibom 😱 so am I 🎉 don't really know a lot of people from there apart from family. When I tell people I'm from Nigeria they always think Yoruba or Igbo. They've never heard about Akwa Ibom. Nice to come across your channel 🇳🇬🎉💕

mine does better when i keep my scalp clean and hair moisturized. I can go like a month if i just use water/oils. It just depends. my scalp starts getting itchy and uncomfortable sometimes. when it doesnt, i leave it.
hair grease is my best friend,it seals in moisture like no oil ever can. and I have no probb shampooing or remoisturizing when I need to.er'bodys diffrnt.
Grease can sometimes clog your scalp pores use less and try deep conditioning every week if not just be careful with hair grease as for me I don't use grease at all I use more like organic oils such as coconut and olive oils u can try avocado oil too 😊
I remember I used to brush my hair while I washed it and I didnt experience much growth but when I stopped and gently detangled my hair its been flourishing.

This was informative! I rarely or never do the things listed. I wash my hair maybe once a month. (Okay, I'm playin. Maybe once every 2-3 months depending on how busy I am?I have a lot of hair, and washing, hour long protein treatment, hour long deep conditioning, detangling, blow drying and flat ironing is an all day affair!) I use the LOC method too moisturize my hair which is a liquid(water) and oil like coconut or olive and then cream or a butter and for my scalp I use jojoba and tea tree oil when it’s dry and need moisture two strand twists or plaits are my always protective low manipulation style😊☺️🤗
why does your hair hate coconut oil btw/ just curious. & thx for sharing! someone recently told me about shampooing with a clarifying shampoo every so often to clear the scalp so i'm glad to hear that was a suggestion of yours.
+BelleAfrique Lol lowkey I should make a vid about my coconut oil struggles but my understanding is that because I am extremely protein sensitive, the properties that allow coconut oil to mimic protein, retain excess protein, and etc... do not play well with my hair. The result (for me) is SUPER dry, stiff, dull, straw-like hair! While coconut being evil is a new discovery for many, I've hated it for years, lol.

+Kuncey 526 Lol I shampoo once a month (typically) but I do clean my hair and my scalp pretty much weekly (cleansing conditioner or super mild shampoo).
No, not in your dreams. Your hair will continue to grow, I can assure you that if you keep up a good hair care regimen for two years, that goal would be realistic.
AfroChic94 Lol my hair really grows down (it's a secret, ahaha) but I'm able to manipulate it to do what I want (at times). When it's in it's coily state, it just hangs 🙍🏾.
Cindy99765 My mom is a 4b natural! When I do her hair I'm always so shocked at how different our hair is! I'm gonna continue to grow my hair out and see how it goes! 😜
Zara and Nicola Wow, could you do a video on that? I'm sure my hair won't look anything like yours lol. It's low density, but I would love to see your technique 😃
Your hair texture is so much like mine! Your advice always works for me. I let my hair matt up a while back, never will I do that again! By the way do you know how I can prevent single strand knots? I always keep my hair stretched and they just feel inevitable sometimes!
I used to wash my hair every two weeks and conditioned it every week but I don't have enough time now since I'm a full time student and a full time mother. So I mainly just wet it every time I'm in the shower and when I have time do all in one day along with a hot oil treatment and it actually works wonders I don't have to moisturise it as much as I did before

Josh George you're soo right omg, pulled the words right out my mouth
Josh George well the NH movement is primarily for black women so if a channel only acknowledges women and they are women, you can't blame them.
Josh George yes that was very kind of her I felt the love

I actually don't find finger detangling effective like my hair will still look and feel matted:/
Have you tried detangling(with a wide-tooth comb) while you condition your hair?

MB B i love that oil, it definitely works
MB B how do you all use it? As daily application, weekly, hot oil treatment ?
Bri Bri you could use it in your scalp and mix it with other oils
Bri Bri I used to use it on my hair scalp 2x week but I didn't like the build up, so I use it on my scalp when I pre-poo overnight.
lol I was playing with my hair when she said don't touch your hair to often.
Great tips! Love your lip colour 😍
your voice is very soothing
So of the tips you mentioned, I already do, but I was not aware of how they were benefiting my hair growth, so thank you for this. It was a much-needed video for me.

Zara and Nicola OHHHHH whew got it now... thanks for the clarity :-) continue your greatness
You're sooooo pretty omg
omg, lvoe the way yur vides are edited.
and you're so pretty
I love your hair! I'm 4a/b but my hair is a lot different then yours. It grows down not up! I always wanted a massive fro 😂. Only in my dreams!
No, not in your dreams. Your hair will continue to grow, I can assure you that if you keep up a good hair care regimen for two years, that goal would be realistic.
I have 4c hair with 4b hair that grows up a lot so my hair naturally sticks out.
It's low density, but I would love to see your technique 😃
good donts and thank you for sharing
Your hair is beautiful and you're very beautiful as well
my granny which is native american/african american. used petroleum jelly on her hair and drunk plenty of water. and her hair was below waist length..

Lol, why not... lemme add it to my list.
In starting my natural hair so this is helpful no more synthetic for me
Your hair texture is so much like mine! Your advice always works for me. I let my hair matt up a while back, never will I do that again! By the way do you know how I can prevent single strand knots? I always keep my hair stretched and they just feel inevitable sometimes!
do Tutorial for that makeup look you're rocking.

Hey! Since you're in Nigeria would you consider doing a vlog???
I used to wash my hair every two weeks and conditioned it every week but I don't have enough time now since I'm a full time student and a full time mother. So I mainly just wet it every time I'm in the shower and when I have time do all in one day along with a hot oil treatment and it actually works wonders I don't have to moisturise it as much as I did before
