Dillon is right about drinkability! It can't just be about whether you can keep drinking it, it's gotta also be about how much you want to return to it.
It's not one I drink often but it is a decent whiskey. I actually chose it over a much pricier and popular blended scotch, at a tailgate when they were the two of three options along with Jameson. A drink through would be interesting with JD.
Yeah - we did a Drinkthrough a couple years ago, and it was not really comprehensive. This one is definitely on our list to re-do for a proper Drinkthrough.
Glad you did this video, just tried Jack Daniels for the first time since I was a teen. It's solid, easy to drink, but nothing special. If someone offered this to me, I would gladly sip it, but I would rather buy Old Forester Signature, JTS, Brown, WT101 or Old Grandad Bonded.
So I tried tweaking your scoring system a bit to my preferences and I'm liking the results. I cut out balance, raised flavor to 25, finish to 15, lowered uniqueness to 5, and raised value to 10. Just throwing that out there as some fun feedback. I tend to really lean on flavor, finish, and value when I'm judging spirits.
No. 7 was the whisky that, in college, convinced me I didn't like whiskey until I was 38. I still haven't forgiven it. It's not as bad as I remember it (it beat Beam White head-to-head) but it's still just mass-market crap for the undiscerning drinker who wants a buzz. I won't turn my nose up at it in an open bar situation, but ... well, I will at any other time.
Sometime around the 2010s the word "quality" was suspiciously dropped off of the front label. If you could - try to score a pre-2008 bottle of Jack (still 80 proof to keep things apples to apples). I'm curious how you could would compare/contrast the two products...
I don’t like anything about the smell or taste. I’ve tried many times bc my wife loves it. My score would have been much lower but I will say the uniqueness is a 10. Nothing else like it.
I know you guys all have lives outside of the channel, and can get very busy, so I understand can go periods with no live shows. Just curious if they will be coming back soon.
I appreciate Jack Daniels because it's the first whiskey I ever had and the first spirit I actually enjoyed drinking, but "mellowed" is not a word I ever want to see on a whiskey label. Lol ****Update**** JD does not deserve a bronze, much less a silver. You guys are really inflating your scores lately.
I'm only 5 minutes in, but I feel like either Dutch had been pregaming, or I'm projecting. Looking forward to seeing how this gets scored though. Not one that I personally buy, because I feel like there's nothing particularly 'good' about it and I'd rather spend 10 euro more and get the single barrel... Or just not drink/drink a wine/beer at that point. Also nothing particularly 'bad' about it either, except for the cardboard maple kinda note.
Im guessing they are taking price and availability into account here. But yes, in the greater scheme of things, it would be crushed into oblivion by an Elijah Craig Barrel Proof.
Looking forward to the 2024 Ocho Puntas review lol … wear a Jack Daniels shirt for that one
I don't know how you can get a 7 on body for #7. It's thin.

I agree 💯 just because it’s light and inoffensive doesn’t mean I want to drink it all night.
Yup, for drinkability you gotta consider how much you enjoy it to want to continue pouring or drinking neat.

I'd definitely drink Jack over Johnnie Red, any day.
@@CuriosityPublic Ok, I must've missed that. They have been putting out a ton of new products lately.

Awesome video, guys!
Cheesus, someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed that day lol
Feel like they massively overrated this one.

Totally robbed by 1 point on body by Dutch! 😂

I hate to say this, but Dutch is right on on every category.

should be going live this coming monday!
Mid is not a 7
Compared to what? It the CP scale
@@newmennium Mid would be 5/10 according to the scale
You sound congested Dutch, hope you feel better. I would pick Buffalo Trace over Jack. Somebody not too Pious this time but love the shirt.
Haven't had one in a long time but I certainly drank my share. Why not do a JD drink through? They have a lot of better expressions.
Could you guys do Glenmorangie drinkthrough? That would make a great video
Out of curiosity...a jack product with no charcoal filtration..a jack Kentucky straight BOURBON..😅😅😅
They actually have sold packs in the past with both filtered and unfiltered new make.
Super drinkable????(wow) - once you add the Coke.

JD No 7 is a decent bourbon. They do make some excellent bourbons and ryes.
Not a Bourbon
@@killerfungisit meets all the standards to qualify as one
Dutch is right on the money. Thin and super average
Whyyyyyyyyy???!!!!!
is a reason people mix it with Coke. it tasts like a dirty ashtray
Not rly agreeing with the score, even tho i think of jd very highly. Should be lower 60s imo considering ur scoring system.

@@javieracosta3439 i mean i still enjoyed the vid 🤓 and agreed!
Yeah, this benefited greatly from uniqueness, drinkability, value and aesthetics.
First!
Drinkability is too high. No one over 21 years old is actively reaching for this bottle to sip on
#7 is absolutely disgusting. Sometimes I wonder if you guys actually know what you guys are talking about.
