Another great video from another great function shown by the great Leon. Thanks man, you are the reason why I switched from Helix to Fractal! 🤘🏻 Couldn't be happier!
Using both voicings, setting the detune, and panning left and right is the charm. Best sound I have got out of the pitch block. Thanks for your great contributions to the world of guitar!
for the harmonically adventurous, the custom scales thing is absolutely amazing. also great for setting up drone voices, where the harmony for every note is the same note. btw, the boys are back in town doesn't need a custom sale. you can do it by setting the regular shifter to major or mixolydian and then reducing the number of intervals in the scale from 8 to 7 and ditch the 7th interval. the problem arises when you get to the solo section, because you need mixolydian for sections of that, but you can just switch channels or shifters to cover it.
oh and another cool tip. for the notes that are in between the notes of the scale you're using, set the harmonies for those notes in between the harmonies you are using, so that if you bend a note, the harmony note will also bend smoothly. er....does that make sense....? i think what i'm saying is don't set the harmonies for notes you're not using to zero! :)
One patch I made on my FM9 that uses the custom scales is a blues patch where each channel on the pitch block harmonizes with the chord changes of a 12 bar blues (I, IV, V, and V alt). It does require some tap dancing as you need to switch channels with each chord change, but it's a pretty cool sound and isn't something you can do with any other harmonizer (at least any that I'm aware of.)
Is there any way in the FM3 to use Virtual Capo and Harmony simultaneously? I mean, since there’s only one Pitch block and Virtual Capo goes before drives and amp, and Harmony goes after.
Wonder if custom scales could be used to reproduce that harmony in the final phrase of the outro harmony in Sing Me Away by Night Ranger. Most of the lines are a diatonic thirds, but very last phrase has one or two notes where that harmony changes. I tried this myself a couple of years ago, but couldn't get it right. Not sure if it can't be done or if I just did something wrong.

Can't wait to try that drone idea! Excellent point about the in between notes too.
You are freakin brilliant. Thank you.

Great idea!
The old Digitech Smartshit IPS33, would have done that, - but sadly it's long since discontinued..

Not on the Fm3 unfortunately.

pretty sure that's been covered in the fractal forum a while back. maybe try a search?
5:50 you forgot the level 2, but the idea is there =)
Well spotted!
