Northern Sri Lanka is pretty good and has a different vibe since it’s all the Tamil dominated areas vs Sinhalese down South. Tribcomalee, Jaffna and Batticaloa along with Kilinochi and few other cities are Tamil speaking and was ravaged by the civil war for over 25 years. Btw, the strange bit you keep referring to is called Bajji or Bhaji in UK restaurants. Typically in UK, they just have the onion one but all the fried bananas covered in batter you ate In Tamilnadu and Kerala are Bhajjis. It can be any vegetable like onions, potatoes, plantains (raw banana), eggplant ( aubergines) or even hard boiled eggs or bread. The restaurants in UK seem to have the onion bhajis as the popular snack but plantain is the most popular one in Tamilnadu and Kerala along with Onion. Trinco and Jaffna are ok but not the best cities I like. The beach towns down south of Galle are beautiful and so is Nuwara Eliya up in the mountains. Ella is great but it has turned into some kind of backpacker hippie haven in the past decade but still worth the visit. East Coast of Sri Lanka has some great towns like Arugam Bay where tourists don’t normally go and the East coast has a different monsoon season so when it’s rainy in the West, the East is relatively drier.
@@Abraracourix The southern coast looks beautiful but definitely not our thing the crowd is pretty bad. Backpackers head over to arugam bay so we avoided that one. @@EllisWR The Southern Coast has umpteen different towns from Galle down and some are more visited than others by tourists and others, you probably won’t find any. Even lesser tourists in Arugam bay. It also depends on the months you go. There are lots of tourists between Dec-Feb but if you go later, you will hardly find them. Overall, Sri Lanka has less tourists than India. The northern towns are good but the beaches are best down south. As for Indian restaurants in UK, I can’t speak for the place with 4000 holes in Lancashire but London has no dearth of good Indian restaurants including all regional cuisines from Kerala, Tamilnadu, Andhra and Karnataka. So many new restaurants in London these days. And lots of Kerala food. The problem though is, most British folks are so used to eating the typical Indian fare in UK which is predominantly Gujarati and Punjabi food and the curries ( many of them invented in England or Scotland for the locals) and they don’t try food from the south. But London has lots of choices. I can’t imagine a Pakistani running a Kerala restaurant lol Pakistan food has a lot in common with the food from Punjab and even UP but nothing in common with Kerala cuisine lol Maybe people in Blackburn are not adventurous to try Indian food beyond what they know and keep referring to everything as “ curry” lol. @@EllisWR London has plenty of Kerala restaurants and all authentic food. You can go to Harrow or Wembley on Ealing Road and there are too many South Indian restaurants and also in Hounslow, East Ham and Tooting. Lots of Sri Lankan food in North London too. The typical British person’s idea of Indian food seems to be a gravy with chunks of meat served with rice or naan and samosas and poppadums. So lot of restaurants in UK serve to that palate. Most of the food is primarily from Punjab, UP or Gujarat and lots of dishes even invented in UK like Tikka Masala and Vibdaloos ( which are not Indian dishes). Indian cuisine is vast and very nuanced than a typical westerner’s idea of Indian food. The food in India changes every 100 kms and some are regional dishes. If you went up to Wayanad and Northern Kerala, the food is different from what you had in Southern Kerala. The Malabar cuisine is very unique and known for biryanis in Malabar style along with seafood and vegetable dishes unique to the Malabar region. Sri Lanka has much nicer beaches and clean. Lots of Indian beaches have turned to shite due to people littering and proliferation of plastics in the past 25 years which was not a thing before the turn of the century. Kerala and Northern Karnataka and Goa have some decent beaches but usually crowded during the season and the seas get very rough during the off season on the Arabian Sea. The Bay of Bengal coastline is polluted and also very dangerous due to the topography of the coastline and lots of people die not knowing the dangers of the coastline. Thank you for visiting Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka needs kind tourists like you and me. We have been visiting Sri Lanka every year for the last 32 years. A beautiful place to visit with great people with almost 20,000 year culture with almost 3000 years of written history. Inscriptions have been there for thousands of years on stone slabs and on rocks. About 2000 years ago Sri Lankan (Siv Hela, Sihela or Sinhala) people wrote in books made of palm leaves. Unfortunately, for the last 520 years the Europeans, especially Portuguese, Dutch and English caused unimaginable damage to the country of Siv-Hele (Sinhale), her people and the culture. The British caused the biggest damage by killing many hundreds of thousands of people and forcibly taking over hundreds of thousands of acres of paddy/ rice fields that belonged to traditional Sinhala farmers. They created huge tea plantations and brought thousands of South Indian slaves to work in those stolen lands to grow and pluck tea for the Brits. When they left the country in 1948, they left the South Indian slaves in the country and created a huge rift between Sinhala nationals and generations of South Indians who were originally brought as slaves by the Brits. British ruled the country for almost 200 years using their "Divide and Conquer" method! Then, since 1983, the world's most ruthless and murderous terrorist group, LTTE, caused havoc in the country with the blessing of the Western enemies. Sri Lankan Government was forced to wage a "Humanitarian War" to save almost 300,000 civilians held at gun point by LTTE terrorists. They used them as a human shield. The Government forces sacrificed their own lives to save these innocent civilians from LTTE terrorists. Finally, the terrorists were defeated in 2009. Now, country is trying to bounce back from the 500-year European invastion. Still, some Western enemies try their best to destabilize this country. Please remember the 30-year was was NOT a civil war, but it was a war against a group of world's most ruthless and barberic terrorists. Please don't call it a "civil war", it was a "terrorist war" that was shamelessly funded by the Western enemies.

There are no tigers in Sri Lanka!..... but there are wild leopards!!!... and a species indigenous to Sri Lanka!... also the smallest wild cat in the world is also found in Sri Lanka. The island is a biodiversity hot spot. Many species of every class of animals only found in Sri Lanka.
Amazing!!

Seafood in Sri Lanka is fresh as it's an island and cooked in amazing fashion. So tasty!
lol why one hand to take a piece out of a dosa/roti/naan etc?
Why not? Use right hand for doing that and left hand for touching other stuff
@EllisWR left hand wasn't touching anything and never is lol.its easier....calm down dear
@@bladclot4234 Are you alright... Do you need help?
@EllisWR no I'm OK just that everyone uses 2 hands to tear a piece is all and not flaffing about with one hand.
@@bladclot4234 Hmm plenty of people ourselves included use one hand. Weird thing to comment about from an hour video don't you have ewt better to do
