Jake definitely overextended and just made a pearl-clutchy, virtue signaling hit piece on H3 and should’ve deleted it but when you get more context on his past interactions with the whole H3 crew trying to be all buddy buddy with them really shows how OBSESSIVE (and weird) he is.
Entitled perfectly describes Jake. In the beginning of his h3 video it sounds like "i bought merch so i deserved to be respected".

Yup there was never a set payment then they made a new deal and Jake accepted that deal so charli and her family isnt in the wrong when he could have said pay me this amount and credit me when you use the photos
So.. this is on brand for him. Virtue signaling and weaponizing his chronic illness while shooting himself in the foot doing it. Man. I casually watched some of his videos before the H3 hit piece but had no idea he’s done something like this before. The more I’m learning, the more I really don’t like. And he doesn’t seem especially.. with it? Idk man. Both were problems he made up in his head cuz of some weird complex. Also, him reaching out biweekly after initially working with them? How long did that go on for? Seeing how much he reached out to members of H3 and honestly how awkward his other collabs are makes me think the only reason he’s gotten to work with anyone is by being insufferable until people give in. Maybe that’s bad faith but Idk the vibe is just really off the more I learn.

Ironically - he lost me during a Shane video. I'd have to dig in my comment history to figure which video it was but he was really nasty about Shane's weight and from what I recall he was basically saying that he couldn't have an eating disorder because of how he looked. I am really thin and have dealt with disordered eating for most of my life. It just really rubbed me the wrong way. I won't defend Shane but that's not something to criticize about him. He's done SO much worth actually being canceled over that to go that low was not only unkind to much of the audience watching, but entirely unnecessary.

I feel like if he wanted to build off the books hype he could have gone a more positive route. Like maybe made a video excited that he was in the book. Just talking about his positive experiences with Charlie. It would have built off her buzz with no negativity.
As an artist, to me it sounds to me like he realized that he didn't ask for enough when initially working for them. You gotta make a contract and value your work. But coming after them after he initially agreed is just a bad look - you just gotta learn from it and do better in the future. It just looks bad...
I think he's young and intelligent enough to potentially learn from this. Feel the embarrassment, self reflect, bounce some ideas off a talk therapist or a good friend. If he's honest with himself this could be the humbling experience he needs to grow up a little and work on his personality

I used to be a big fan of Jake but he has def done some weird stuff. However, he is young and i too did a lot of weird stuff when i was young, its just that i didnt go out of my way to let millions of people know lol

I had to watch this twice to make sure but you did misunderstand. He wrote the first “ contract” like shit-If you sell the photos I’d like to be contacted to work something out-but they did agree to it. Technically he was probably thinking if they sold the photos to like Getty. but then he decided them being part of a commercial product (the book) was “selling” the photos even though as you said the book regardless could have existed without them. Also the second contract he signed was they owned everything that was shot for them AFTER the contract. But he didn’t do any more work for them after that contract was signed. But regardless you totally misunderstood and kept saying he’d signed his rights away but actually he was in the grey zone and decided to be an asshole and tank his professional reputation for what at most he could have settled for a few hundred bucks.

Honestly, having watched this video and everything than happened with h3. It makes me believe that what he wants is to become a gufe internet personality at the expenses of other succesful youtubers/influencers. Idk, that's just my opinion
