It is pretty cool. I think this was our third visit but the first time the damn monkeys didn't get in the water. 😂

Loved this. We would love to try a traditional Onsen. Please tell me your camera was on when you ‘fell off the edge’ !! Sad times for your camera. The snow monkeys were gorgeous and the kids were super excited to see them! You guys know where to eat don’t you. The more we watch you the more we want to travel and visit Japan. When we finally do, I hope you’re ready for 20 plus questions!!!! Loved it - brilliant 🍻

Thank you! Yeah the traditional onsens are amazing. They are a major reason we keep going back in the winter - soaking in hot water in the snow is amazing.
This is from 12 years ago and we've been back since with the kids when there was even more snow...

I think I did have my camera on but it is all still on tape. Camera survived amazingly. Bits flew off and I had to scramble down the gully to find them but it kept working 😂😂
I keep falling into ditches or down stairs (a tower in Germany) while filming. This is the most recent time in the snow here in Oz...

The monkeys are always fun. More for me though. Michelle had her leg dry humped by a monkey once, then another took a dump at her feet and Georgia was "attacked" by one (not seriously and no harm done). I just get to stand by and laugh. As far as eating goes, not monkeys, Michelle does a lot of research. She tells me where to go and I just drive 😂
When the time comes ask away. If we can't answer them we have friends in Tokyo who have been super helpful for us too.

Dang! You make me wanna be there ASAP! Was it winter when you guys were there? I could imagine how many footages you had to unload every day for this 28-day trip!

I think it was the end of March. Winter was just hanging on a bit. But we have been there in the depths of winter too. The snow monkeys when there is heaps of snow are superb. We love the snow in Japan.
Yeah, I shoot way too much video. I think I brought home 2TB of video to edit. 😂

Hi Shane, good to see you have up loaded a video. That Apple Ice-cream sounds like heaven. Those Monkeys are amazing. Winter wonderland. That Japanese food looked sensational. Those eggs are food porn 🤪 OMG, I have never seen so many vending machines in one place. The great advnture continues, thank you for sharing. Look forward to the next one. Hope you are all well.

Hi Joseph. We are very well thanks but have been busy with... life and work I suppose. Hence the very late video. I haven't even been watching much UA-cam for about 2 months. I noticed a few days ago that I am behind on your videos by about 10 videos. I going to have to binge 😁 I also noticed you're getting very close to that 1K subscriber mark too. Congratulations! Sorry to say there is more food porn coming up 😀 I was editing the next video today and half of it is sushi 🤣

I wish I had the confidence and ability to travel to Japan years ago. It just seemed too different and less open to travel than other options. It does look so much more doable through your videos. I have now returned from our latest trip and can try and catch up a bit more with this trip of yours. The monkeys looked quite calm with all the people around. I have been places where monkeys are a bit more aggressive. Thanks for an entertaining movie.

Even in the short time we've been going, around 12 or so years, the change has been considerable. When we first went we went to a couple of places where we were a novelty and nobody spoke English. Now in even off the beaten path places you'll find western tourist and a few more English speakers. Having said that there were some places we stayed we had to email the place directly using Google translate - but so far we've got by. They are very friendly and accommodating even when the don't speak English.
The monkeys here aren't too bad. One got irate and scratched at Georgia's leg, but no harm done. Mostly they just ignore the tourists. Although one time a juvenile climbed Michelle's leg and... dry humped. Which was hilarious. They are more interested in feeding or just sitting in the bath mostly. Not aggressive. I have seen pictures of monkeys in the bath playing with a mobile phone though. 😂
If you go you will love it. There is some gorgeous walks and hikes all over the place. I watch a few UA-camrs that are always out and about in the countryside exploring - more places than we will ever get to unfortunately.
      Thank you!!!😀😀😀

@@ShaneNixonFamily Thanks for taking the time to let me know your thoughts. (I bet that Michelle thought the attentions of the monkey hilarious). Now we are retired we have the feeling of time running a bit short and we have relatives in NZ and also have some fresh destinations in mind en route we want to visit. We might be able to do a week in Japan on the way. Thanks for the inspiration.

@@IvorsTravels Another time one monkey pooed at her feet and this last time one weed. She gets all the attention. 😂
If you ever decide to go ask me anything. If I don't know I'll know someone that does. The next time we got to Europe we're hoping we can make a detour to Japan on the way too.

Oww man.... the impossible to not recognize the terrible autofocus of the Panasonic cameras lol every time I notice that my focus was out of wack I want to throw it into the bin hahaha what a great trip you did! I love the animations with the maps that you did and the life of those monkeys (jealous)! seriously great! I want to go there on my next trip. What time of the year were you there? and the music selection amazing by the way! another sub you got here 👌🏻

Thank you!!! I think it was late March, around the 31st, so there was still a bit of snow around. The time before that, 6 or 7 years ago, was early March and there was heaps of snow. The monkeys spent most of the time in the water then and it looked fantastic. So early March is a pretty good time to visit. Then you have to find an outdoor onsen in the snow and have a bath just like the monkeys. It is the best thing in the world 😃
I never used the autofocus on the GH4 - it was awful. It hasn't been too bad on the GH5 but I only use it when I point the camera at myself, but yeah, compared to a Sony or Canon it isn't great.😃
But I am really looking forward to your next videos. We hadn't been to Kyushu before the last trip and we fell in love with it so I really want to see your take on it.
      Thanks again!

@@ShaneNixonFamily ow that's nice! Because you also can get a bit of the cherry blossom if you do a whole month.... Great time to go then! I'll do that next time 👌😊 and I agree with you, it must be magical to go to the onsen with the snow 😍.I use now the single time autofocus only, the continuous one is just unusable hahaha
