I love how it was added to the video that page from the comics where metal sonic comes upon that liquid that would turn former robotics back to their organic forms and when it doesnt work for him the flicker of his eyes basically implied tears. Such a powerful moment in the comics.
That was the metal virus, which does the opposite of what you said but that makes it an even more impactful moment in the comics, metal was viewing Sonic struggle and tire out because he was slowly being overcome with the metal virus, Metal wanted that too, he’s programmed to be a copy of Sonic he wants to *be* Sonic so he tries to infect himself, it doesn’t work, *he will never be Sonic*

This sounds like the type of music that would play during a clamatic battle of speed and power between Sonic and Metal, their race slowly becoming more and more frantic as the music picks up and reaches the chorus, at which point both of them would start fighting through a collapsing eggman base as their battle continues to escalate, both of them trying to outrun falling pipes and exploding machinery, but by the time the line of the throne never being his own comes Sonic gets reinforcements, with Tails and Knuckles arriving just in time to assist, then as the music continues and we hear the line of a throne that will never be his own we see Metal Sonic being tagged team by the Sonic heroes and eventually falling into the rubble as our heroes fly away on the tornado, truly amazing music I must say

But honestly, I think I’d do something a little different if I was given the job.
