I love this song. He was gone much too soon.
Yep, I do love 💕 Jim's songs. Thanks, Don.
Great choice Don!!! Love this song, always have, and Jim's a real gem. Thanks for the terrific reaction! And happy Thanksgiving to my all my Canadian friends up here!
I don't know why but this song always had a profound effect on me when I was younger, it made me feel like I was connected to the lyrics somehow and gave me hope for the future as well.
This is a great selection, as I consider him one of the great American folk singers. There is something about his voice and makes you listen to every word. "I Got a Name" is a 1973 single recorded by Jim Croce with lyrics by Norman Gimbel and music by Charles Fox. It was the first single from his album of the same title and also Croce's first posthumous single, released the day after his death in a plane crash on September 20, 1973. The song reached a peak of #10 on the Billboard Hot 100, spending 17 weeks on the chart. It also hit #3 on the Cash Box Top 100. The song was used as the theme song for 'Las American Hero'. To moi, the song is about self-respect and gratitude for the opportunities that our ancestors didn't have1. The song is also about passing on the family name and heritage to the next generation. Thanks for your reaction Mr. Zimbabwe. 9.4
@jcat__ You can call me "Mr. Z" if you want, since we've gotten so close over the years. Ya know, give or take a continent or two. ;-)
You should react to: "operator , bad bad Leroy Brown , time in & bottle , & cats in the cradle" please
Please look for Johnny Horton songs , like All for the love of a girl. Whispering piano. and many more.
