It's not really actually even. If one were to say
The narrator sounds as if he wouldn't consider changing course to stay on the same path. This is a bit of conjecture but if theu had any interest in them the narrator would know where they are going.
This song communicating more about independent by extension journey of stood discovery & growth. Yes that can certainly happen from other people but coming from oneself is equally if not more important l.

Maury made an album titled Gingerbreadd. They only made 11,000 copies which were sent to radio stations to be played. It is a fantastic album with many great songs. Unfortunately Maury's album was lost in the shuffle when so much great music appeared in the early 70's. The story goes that Jim and Maury were a duo with the understanding that if one of them hit it big, the other would be his guitarist. Jim's deep voice was an instant hit , leaving Maury to play guitar next to Jim. If you watch any Jim Croce live appearances, the guy next to him is Maury Muehleisen. While traveling to an appearance they both died in a plane crash on September 30, 1973. What a shame to lose two such talents at the peak of their careers. I can only imagine the great music they would have produced had they not been on that plane.

I almost cried when I heard this song play in Django Unchained. Tarantino uses it in the "working" montage after Django accepts Schultz's offer to go into business together and finally starts earning a living as a free man. The whole sequence made me realize there's more to freedom than just being unchained: folks also need career opportunities and purpose to live their lives with dignity.

My dad went to high school with him (Upper Darby HS outside of Philadelphia, same as Tina Fey, Cheri Oteri, and Todd Rundgrend). This song came out the day after he died. He was an amazing folk artist that left us way too early. "On the night of Thursday, September 20, 1973, during Croce's Life and Times tour and the day before his ABC single "I Got a Name" was released, Croce and five others were killed when their chartered Beechcraft E18S crashed into a tree during takeoff from the Natchitoches Regional Airport in Natchitoches, Louisiana. A musician in a similar vein is RODRIGUEZ. " COLD FACT " AND " COMING FROM REALITY " are two albums he is famous for.
Some of you will be aware that a Documentary was made about RODRIGUEZ after he was found working on a building site.
In regards to JIM CROCE, he would be one of the most lamented musicians of all time.
The sadness and tragedy of his death, makes me choke with emotions and hold back the tears.
In 1973, when the News came through on Australian media that he had died in a plane crash, I was only 12 yrs old.
Jim had only just broken through into the Commercial World of Music.
His Hit songs were being played on 2SM radio in Sydney.
The word that Lex is looking for is ' engaging '
Jim's voice and story telling was very engaging.

My dad had a tape of Croce's greatest hits, and we didn't have a tape deck in the house (this was early 90's) only in one of the cars (we had a bunch of cars, though). So we'd sit out in the car and jam to that cassette. Some of my fondest memories, for sure.
