- It’s been so long since we moved into our new house, and I finally got around to editing this vlog! (It’s actually quite unedited as I wanted to leave it as candid as possible - just my first impressions.) Enjoy! :)
Side note: Not all students have to move out of college in second year; many colleges offer accommodation for more than one year, or all years for some degrees. I could have continued staying in college accommodation, but chose to stay out this year for a different experience (a more warm and cosy feeling compared to staying in dorms!), and also because the monthly rent is less expensive. An additional benefit is that we won’t have to move in and out at the start and end of every term and can leave all our stuff here during vacations :)
WHO AM I?
I am a medical student at Oxford University, coming all the way from Singapore! I will be using this channel to document my journey (with vlogs like this) and share simple tips and advice for aspiring medics and aspiring Oxbridge students :) Hopefully this will give you some insight into what it’s like to be a student / medical student / international student at Oxford.

How much does it cost as compared to rent price for College accomodation last year?
For me it costs about £200 less per month than my first year college room (but second year rooms in college would have been even more expensive). However, living out we'd have to pay rent for 12 months (including vacations), rather than just during term time, so the total will work out to be about the same (if you only pay term-time rent in college accommodation).

So was that a good example of the kind of accommodation available in to students Oxford?
I'm hoping to buy a house in Oxford one day and rent the rooms to students so it should be w-a-y better than the one you've got.
There are many different accommodation options available. I would say this is quite a small house with relatively small rooms (therefore the relatively cheap rent). There are definitely nicer / bigger houses for those with a higher budget.
