I have one budgie called Tommy. 2 of his friends died both in the past years. So he is alone sadly. But he is not depressed or something! He is healthy, happy and is interested at me A LOT haha. When I talk to him, he stares to me all the time and sometimes he reacts to me what I'm saying so we have a little conversation sometimes. He can also say his name and a little phrase like "Tommy sweet" translated to Dutch, it is "Tommy lief". And the funny thing is that he learned talking by himself I didn't learn him the words. He is 7 years old now and is my best little buddy :D And when a budgie stands with one little paw, that is also a sign that a budgie is healthy and comfortable . My budgie does that luckly
Wow, 7 years old, that's a great age! 😊 Yes, I think as long as a budgie gets a lot of attention from the owner(s) when other budgies have died, it will be ok. The main thing is that a budgie should have enough social interaction 😊 I'm glad to hear your budgie is doing well, even after his friends died. It's great to have such a relationship with your bird 😊
Thank you for posting this. I think this video is very helpful for new bird parents, it isn’t scary, and it gives all the different reasons the bird may show this behavior. Not everything is a sign of illness. Once, I almost rushed one of my birds to the vet for a crop adjustment! Really, she just saw me coming and thought she needed to make room for a treat! I know that sounds silly, but people get attached to their birds quickly and don’t want anything bad to happen to them. The part about the hiccups could save someone stressing their bird out by seeking medical attention over a non-issue. Avians can be located far from the bird’s home. The bird can also pick up that the human is stressed and really become stressed itself. Knowing how to interpret things in the correct context is best. If your pal is clinging to the bars with his beak because he has paused in the middle of his grand full-cage climb, he is fine. If he has been there for over fifteen minutes, though, he is probably really stressed out. Certain flocks will do certain behaviors because this is just what they’ve decided on. Mine used to greet people with a wing flip. Now, they both stretch out one wing to say hello. It’s hilarious. It’s always the right wing, and they will move their heads to stars at you when they do this.
I'm so glad you found the video helpful 😄 It's very encouraging for me to keep making videos 😊 I tried to show with the video that not all body language is as bad as it looks so people are less worried. I'm glad that came across 😊 Our budgies also stretch whenever we come 😋 I guess it's also to prepare to fly away just in case the person who came is dangerous 😋
@@misty_blue Well, mine ought to know by now I’m not dangerous, but you know birds 😉. Glad to know I encouraged you to make more. Best of luck with your channel.
0:35 I thought the perch shuffle meant "too hot" because my room was chilly and I put the fan heater at the covered cage for a while, with my head under to check temperature. After a while he did the perch shuffle until I turned the heat off or down and then he did it again when I turned it back up.
That’s very likely that your budgie was doing that because of the heat :) I think generally it’s just a way to catch the attention of someone. Our budgie was doing it to impress our female budgie 😋 But they have many different reasons for their behaviour.
Great video overall! Please note that the word for cleaning themselves is not "pruning," it's "preening." All birds do it, and if they are a mating or bonded pair they will preen each other - allopreening.
Yeah it can be tricky with birds from the pet store sometimes. They're often not very used to humans. Maybe your bird can improve with click/target stick training?
Okay my budgie, Tucker, I really feel like he sleeps on the fricking *wall* All three of my budgies have something wrong with them.... *Boo sits in the food* (Boo is my other budgie) Also, 6:45 is how Boo looks at me when I show her the millet..

Wow 20 budgies. That's amazing 😮😊 it's great when you can rescue animals like that. Thanks for the correction! I always mix up pruning and preening, but I think now I'll remember 😁
Thank you for your very informative video. My little Joey is a real chatterbox! His vocabulary is incredible! He sits on my finger for ages nattering away, "Does Joey want to go to bed", "Let's get you some fresh water", "Hello Cerys", "Hello Jade", "Cheeky Boy", "Joey Kiss", "I love you", "Night Night", "God Bless". The only thing I'm concerned with is his moulting. He was clipped by the breeder (he's 1 year old in November) and because of his loss of feathers, he has zero flight. Apart from when I'm away from home for the day, his house doors are open all the time, but he drops to the lounge carpet when he wants to come to me poor soul. I think it it is so moving to think he is prepared to fall 3 feet to the carpet to come to me. Of course most of the time I go for him and bring him to my chair on my shoulder. He is a very special little pal. ❤
Gladly done 😊 Wow, Joey knows a lot of phrases! It's amazing when budgies can speak like that. I'm sorry to hear he can't fly 😕 I never really understood why people clip wings. What is a bird without flight? But I'm glad to hear you're taking such good care of him. He sounds really happy with you 😊 I hope somehow he recovers from the clipping one day!

Recently I found and caught a budgie OUTSIDE!! This was less than 24 hours ago, but my family got a small cage just big enough for it, and some food, water, toys, and a large treat for it to help keep it as relaxed as possible, I'm trying to do a crash course on budgies to help understand it better as we have never owned birds before and don't have experience. But this really helped!! Thank you! Ps: We are calling it Sprite, we are fairly certain its a female, and it seems fairly lethargic, maybe from stress, but if someone could tell me what that means that would be nice
Wow that's great that you took in a rescue budgie 🥰 I'm glad I could help out! Sprite is a very cute name 😊 It's quite normal when they sit very quietly at first, especially females. They need to get used to the new surroundings. Some get more comfortable after a few days, some after a few weeks. Do you have spray millet? Putting a piece in the cage can really help her feel more comfortable. Sometimes it helps budgies to play a video of singing budgies (I like the one from Mango and Chutney), but it can also make them feel more stressed so be careful 🤭
@@misty_blue She is a whole lot more active! We have her by the window right ow and she livened up and is chirping up a storm! She also loved the budgie noises I made for her, and I have seen quite a few people mention the spray millet, I'll have to check that out, it seems all budgies are obsessed with that!
@@mittens2773 that's great to hear! 😊 Yes they generally like being near the window. True, spray millet to budgies is like chocolate to humans 😋 Just make sure to give only a bit per day because they tend to overeat it 😋
@@misty_blue Good and bad news about her! We've named her Sprite, if we can't find her owner, which the bad part is it seems we may not, but we're gonna keep looking for a few days, anyway if we can't find them, we have a family friend with Three budgies, and a whole ROOM, and I mean BIG room just for the budgies, along with a giant cage, so she will be taken care of if we can or can't find the owner, for now she is destroying her egg/honey treat and dancing by the window! PS: There is a really good thing coming out of this We find baby birds that are way to small to have even atempted walking around our house, as well as injured birds, And because of this budgie, we have a cage and food for any bird that we need to take to our local society! Of course if we find a baby bird, we probably are going to treat it as such and give it something warm in the bottom for it to snuggle up with. Hell, we might even use the cage for any moles ,or other critters, that we need to move. So overall. This could not have been a better experince for us.
@@mittens2773 I’m glad to hear that it’s been such a good experience! And it’s great that you found a good home for Sprite 😄 It’s sad if you can’t find the original owner, but most importantly she is healthy and happy 😊
It's been a week since I got my baby Budgies. The caretaker at the store confused me all the more and in the end I ended up getting 3 males and 1 female. The 4 get along well but I'm still a little concerned of how they'll behave towards each other when they grow up.. are all the 3 going to literally attack my 1 female when and if they want to mate.
I think it's more likely that the female would attack the males, but if she has a quiet character, she might be fine with the males. Males generally have a soft character so they don't attack in a very aggressive way. If you had 2 females or more, the chance for fights is bigger, because females fight each other more often. Maybe the males fight each other to impress the female, but I doubt it will be very bad fights. I think your budgies will be fine 😊 In the end, some fighting is normal for budgies, it's how they communicate. You only need to watch out that they never become very aggressive.
I have a flight cage, with 5 budgies in it. I love watching them interact with each other, but I love watching them flap their wings in flight ( inside the cage).🤗
Opening and closing beak rapidly they do when they are warm. Birds do not sweat like we do, therefore they regulate body heat by ventilating when it is hot or fluffing up their feathers when it is cold.
@@misty_blue yes! But sad story is, i had 3 budgies, white, green and blue, the blue one was my favourite, we did not bought her, we found her. She was with me for like almost 1 month. But...we had an AC. The budgies cage was on the AC box, somehow the cage gate opens, we didn't see how that the gate opened, but when i went to the budgie cage, i saw my budgie were flying in front of the cage, trying to go in. I screamed and called my parents. My father tried to catch it, but it flew away...after she flew away, i cried like for a week, then 4-5 months later, my little bro was playing with white budgie and green budgie, he was stupid he opened the cage gate and hurt the green budgie, i didn't see but he comes to mother and tells her "mommy the green bird flew away!" Mother, i and my cousin was so surprised! Then i go near the cage and saw that the green budgie was not in the cage! I was so sad, me and my cousin tried find her, we tried to find her in our rooftop, outside but we never found her, i cried a lot. Now the white budgie is alone. He is the only budgie i have now...i miss my green and blue budgies so much... 😢😢
In the video you see parsley/cilantro (parsley is a bit better because cilantro is a bit too strong) and iceberg lettuce (but I recommend other lettuces like romain and rucola because they are healthier).
If I go near my budgie and jump down to his level while saying “what are you doing” in a higher pitched voice, he will do the wing flappy thing and kinda of vibrate (?) in a way. I definitely think it’s excitement! 😄❤️
They are usually quite cheap yes :) Although, if you want to give them a varied, quality diet and plenty of toys, then it could be a bit more expensive.
Mine bops and shakes his head at the water dish every time after I clean and refill it. Every. Single. Time. Like, bro, you get fresh water at least once a day! 😂
My little devil ( love her sooo much) uses my index finger like a beak stone. Whenever she gets bored with playing with me she just bites me and sends me away :)) when she fells down, usually after bath she tries to fly before her wings get fully dried, she calls me to rescue her and gets on my hand willingly. But other times when she doesn't need my help or something she rarely jumps on my finger. We have been together for 3 years now and our relationship has not improved yet, I think it is her character. She is just stubborn.
It's very possible it's her character. Our Mini is also like that, quite a fierce character 😋 She's sweet, but she can sometimes struggle with getting along with other birds. And it seems like biting is in her genes because some of her children like to bite 🙃
Why is my new White Hawk eyeing my budgies from the past 2 hours. And why are my budgies continuously stretching their wings? I prolly shouldn’t let them out
A white hawk is a predator and eats small birds like budgies. Budgies stretch their wings either to relax or to prepare for flight when they think they might need to flee.
@@misty_blue yes then I will definitely not let them out, they will destroy my room + I love my budgies too much. Also btw the hawk doesn’t attack humans so will it be the same for other animals I have?
@@YourFriendlyLion I think hawks and other birds of prey generally don't attack humans because they see them as above them. They know they cannot really be stronger than humans and they also cannot eat them, so they avoid attacking them. They attack small animals like birds, mice and such. Not just to attack, but mainly to eat them. They also eat eggs. I definitely would keep your budgies in the cage when there is a large bird like that there.
Yes they love to be in the highest places 😊 It's like being in trees in the wild. They can see everything and are further away from the predators on the ground
I'm so sorry to hear 😢 I think for sensitive birds like budgies it can be hard to survive in the wild, especially if they've never lived in the wild. But maybe someone saw it and decided to take it in to take care of it. I really hope your budgie is alright! 💕
If the female tries to lay eggs before 1 years old, she can get health problems like getting the egg stuck (which needs surgery immediately or else she dies). It can also lead to calcium shortage, which is bad for their health. Or the parents get exhausted by the chicks because they're too young to have babies. Those are some things that could happen when they have a nest before they are 1 year old. Hope that helps 🤗
The one I have always gets to the side of the cage where I sit and climbs on the cage still. I don't know why he likes to follow where my hand goes but he always wants to bite my finger any, reason why it's doing that?
Some of our budgies like to chew our fingers to test what they are and if they are safe. They generally like to chew things 😋 Sometimes they do it to defend themselves if they feel threatened.
I use Adobe Spark (on the website) 😊 I'm not sure if you can use it without an Adobe membership, but you could try 😊 The wing flapping is very cute ❤️😁
Do you mean he's just sitting against the wall all day? Maybe he is scared or he needs extra stimulation. Budgies are very social so they need other birds or humans to interact with them. Otherwise they just sit quietly all day. You could give foraging and chewing toys for stimulation, start training your budgie or play budgie sounds for him. Maybe that way he will become more comfortable and more lively.
Loved the video. Amazing 😊Such cute budgies.I have two and I am totally new to budgie as pets. can you help me with the bird bath details. loved it.interested in getting for my budgies🥰
Glad to hear 😄 Have you seen my video about bathing?: ua-cam.com/video/GZ8oNjlx1zI/v-deo.html In addition to what I say in that video I also recommend putting wet greens on or in their cage. You can hang them or place them in a shallow bowl. For instance carrot greens, wild grass or fresh herbs. Many budgies love to wash themselves in the wet greens. I really like the budgie bath I have, but only some of our birds use it. Others prefer wet greens or a mist spray.
lol I want a budgie really bad and my mom and dad said okay but we have to look for one so we went to a ton of stores and none of them had budgies where did you get your budgies?
Sorry, I didn't realise I hadn't responded! Great that your parents agreed 😊 We got two budgies at a pet store (it's the biggest pet store of Europe I think. That's why they had many budgies). And two budgies from a breeder. I personally prefer getting them from breeders because they're usually more used to humans and better taken care of. Some pet stores sadly are pretty bad.
due to covid budgies are hard to get from what I was told by pet store when I was searching for new budgies due to my ones i had for ages died. (one from egg died in September 14 yrs 8 months ikd and 1 died from tumer.
@@misty_blue after two months, I finally got one. He’s super cute and I named him kiwi, and he’s a green birb. I’m working on taming and doing good so far!
Hello i have a question, i had a budgie but it flew away like 1 year ago but still, it was making sounds like coughing and i don't get it why, even tho he started making sounds when we bought ut and it lived wuth ous 5 or more years
My blue male parakeet likes to run off when I approach his cage but it’s a game he enjoys playing w/me hence his name Run Away Robby but I call him Robby for short I know he’s not afraid cause he comes back and puts his bell up so I will knock it down I’ve had a few. parakeet’s in the past so I know how to read their body language/facial expressions/
Yeah, they don't always run off because of fear 😊 They are very playful creatures that can make games out of many things. Your Robby sounds like a very sweet bird 🥰
One thing that's very important is to never make sudden movements and to not approach them with your hands too fast. It can also help to talk while you approach them because they generally don't trust other creatures that are very quiet (predators are quiet when approaching prey). I also wink/blink at them quite often because I noticed it makes them more relaxed. I basically try to mimick their body language, also turning my head like them. What can help is placing your hand flat on the cage daily. Just placing it there for a minute or longer so they get used to it. And millet sprays tend to help a lot 😇 When you put some millet spray on your hand, suddenly they are able to overcome their fear 😋 Although it might take a while before they dare to approach. In short, they need a lot of good experiences with your hands to learn that they're not a threat.
My make budgie is constantly reguritating for no reason to my female budgie. She just eats all the food and attacks him is he wants to mate, im starting to think to sell the female and buy him a kice friendly female before he dies of reguritating
Yes when males want to mate, they try to feed other birds a lot. Sometimes it's not a match so it might be better to find another female. We had the same with our first two budgies. Then we got another pair of budgies and they are doing much better. Our male sometimes feeds the other male and he doesn't refuse. So now they're all quite happy.
In the video it's either parsley or coriander 😊 But those two can sometimes cause problems for budgies so nowadays I give wet endive, grass, basil, mint or Romain lettuce instead. Or carrot greens. They especially love endive 😁
Often it is because they're hormonal or they're molting. Then they can be more irritable and fight with others. Sometimes it's because they want to be the boss of the flock or because they simply don't like one or more birds in the flock. It really depends on the situation 😊
It's possible to train them, but it will be more chaotic and progress will be slower. I sometimes train our six birds together and it did make them more social and some of them now jump on my hand. The more shy birds usually don't train though because the active birds push them away. When you train them one by one you can get more results, but our birds get nervous when they're separated. So training them all together is kind of our only option 😋 I try to look for moments where some birds are busy with something else so I can train just a couple of them.
Having two budgies is very new for me..It's been almost 1.5 month..But I very often get worried about whether they are okay or not and if we are being able to take care of them correctly..I heard from some of my friends about accidents..And I am afraid..I don't wanna lose them🙂
I get that. I often think like that as well 🤭 They're fragile animals. But remember, birds can also sense how you feel, so it's important for us to be relaxed, happy and positive around them. I know it can be hard, but they will be happiest and healthiest when they see us happy and relaxed 😋
Hazel is one of their favorites. They also like fresh herbs like basil and parsley (in small amounts). Carrot greens and spinach (in small amounts) are a favorite. Some like dandelion and they love wild grasses. You can also try groundelder, chickweed or maple tree (not red maple).
It depends on a couple of factors 😊 - The personality. Some budgies are super active and some super quiet. Our Misty just likes to sit quietly, but she's healthy. - How long you've had them. The first days to months that you get budgies, they can be really quiet because they are still getting used to a different environment. Sometimes you can stimulate them by playing budgie sounds. - Sometimes they're quiet when the weather is quite dark and gloomy. They should liven up when the sun comes out. - sometimes it's illness, but I think you would notice it quite well. Before our Pacalina died, she was sitting with her eyes closed and her head tilted upwards and her feathers very fluffed up. At the end she could only sit in a corner on the bottom of the cage
It's quite normal for budgies to act like that. 8 months might seem like a long time, but many budgies need months to years to adjust to new things. They really need to be trained in a specific way to help them feel more comfortable around you. Some things that are important when approaching them: - Never make sudden movements, but move in quite a slow, calm way - Don't try to grab them or chase them - Avoid touching the feet, tail, back, and belly. Safer places to touch are the beak or top of the head because that's the area they use to 'test' things - Try not to approach silently, without making any noise, because that is how predators approach prey (like birds). It's best to speak calmly to your birds as you come near them or sing or whistle When your birds are still scared of touching, it's best to take some steps back. Start by simply placing your hand on top of the cage a few times per day. That shows them that your hand is not a threat. When they become more comfortable, you can start by placing one finger on a perch in the cage. It doesn't need to be close to the budgies yet. As long as they don't look afraid, you can move a bit closer to them. It can also help to have a bit of millet spray in your hand because it helps them overcome their biggest fear. It also helps to spend time in the room with them every day, near the cage, while talking to them. When they see you in the room while you give them their space, they feel less nervous around you. Lastly, it also depends on the personality of each bird. Our Micky is a very social, adventurous bird, so he just jumps on our hands without really thinking about it. He is only 1 year old, but already quite tame. Our Misty still keeps distance from us even after more than 2 years, although she is not as scared of us anymore :)
The only regret i have with my budgie is that we never hand tamed him, he trusts me a lot and have interest in me but is very easily scared and when i show my hands he goes on high alert mode, also hes very old like 13 years or so
Yeah I also started quite late with our budgies and it's hard to keep up with training every day. Some of them do occasionally sit on my hand when there's millet there and sometimes even without millet, but they are always cautious around me and some avoid my hands. It's especially hard when they're in a flock 🙃
Do you mean fresh grass? We just pick it in areas where there is not much traffic. Like walking trails and such. I hope I understood your question well 🙂
I love it when they shake their heads up and down
It's very cute, isn't it 😁😍💕

This is so beautiful, i love it
Thanks so much! 😄
HAHAHAHAHA ive been so anxious on why my budgie was staring at me LMAOO it was just observing me 🤣😂🤣😂😭🤣
Haha yep it's usually just that 😂😋 They feel vulnerable so they always watch everything and everyone closely to make sure they are safe 😋
Great video overall! Please note that the word for cleaning themselves is not "pruning," it's "preening." All birds do it, and if they are a mating or bonded pair they will preen each other - allopreening.
Thanks 😊 Yes I've started using preening instead of pruning since several people pointed it out 😋
Best pet I could’ve ever picked! We have two! They’re just over a year now!
Glad to hear you’re happy with your feathery friends 😊 They’re really fascinating animals!
I have 3 budgies, (skylee, floopy, and sharkie) my oldest bird skylee (4-5 months i believe) loves to jump on her 2 feet ALL the time.
Those are cute names ❤️ It's also so cute when they hop like that 😍
Such an awesome video!

My little guy Bongo is a pet store bird, and he's incredibly stubborn. Sometimes I'll be sitting there and he just walks up to me and bites me!
Yeah it can be tricky with birds from the pet store sometimes. They're often not very used to humans. Maybe your bird can improve with click/target stick training?
Okay my budgie, Tucker, I really feel like he sleeps on the fricking *wall*
All three of my budgies have something wrong with them....

Also, 6:45 is how Boo looks at me when I show her the millet..
They all have their special character 🤭 Our Blue used to sleep upside down and Pacalina dances in a very silly way 🤣 Pacalina also likes to sit in the food 😋

I currently have 20 budgies. Several were rescues, some of them think I am an Alien while some think I am the greatest thing in the world. And, it is preening not pruning ;)

@@misty_blue No, I'm from Lancashire, England. That is Derwent Water in the Lake District. The photo was taken from Surprise View, Queen Victoria's favourite view apparently.

Birb and birby LOL
Exactly 😁🐥
Awwwww my heart melted
My bird's look just like yours

Opening and closing beak rapidly they do when they are warm. Birds do not sweat like we do, therefore they regulate body heat by ventilating when it is hot or fluffing up their feathers when it is cold.
Yeah they also do it when they are warm ☺️ Though other times it's because they are stressed. It depends on the situation.
My white budgie bopping his head so cute

@@misty_blue i do believe its possible to have budgies as friends to the hawk but they need to be babies together and well trained

My parakeet flew away from the garage 1 month ago I tried doing everything for it to come back any chances it’s still alive in the wild?
I'm so sorry to hear 😢 I think for sensitive birds like budgies it can be hard to survive in the wild, especially if they've never lived in the wild. But maybe someone saw it and decided to take it in to take care of it. I really hope your budgie is alright! 💕
What will happen if you provide nest to budgies before they are a year old?
Aww so cute! What do you use to edit thumbnails ❤ aww my female one always looks like a fan flapping her wings in her cage thank you lol 🤣

My budgie is sticking to wall all the day what should I do
Do you mean he's just sitting against the wall all day? Maybe he is scared or he needs extra stimulation. Budgies are very social so they need other birds or humans to interact with them. Otherwise they just sit quietly all day. You could give foraging and chewing toys for stimulation, start training your budgie or play budgie sounds for him. Maybe that way he will become more comfortable and more lively.
Ok

Glad to hear 😄 Have you seen my video about bathing?: ua-cam.com/video/GZ8oNjlx1zI/v-deo.html
In addition to what I say in that video I also recommend putting wet greens on or in their cage. You can hang them or place them in a shallow bowl. For instance carrot greens, wild grass or fresh herbs. Many budgies love to wash themselves in the wet greens. I really like the budgie bath I have, but only some of our birds use it. Others prefer wet greens or a mist spray.

Hello i have a question, i had a budgie but it flew away like 1 year ago but still, it was making sounds like coughing and i don't get it why, even tho he started making sounds when we bought ut and it lived wuth ous 5 or more years
It might have been an infection. Budgies are quite sensitive to infections. I'm sorry to hear your budgie flew away 😢
My blue male parakeet likes to run off when I approach his cage but it’s a game he enjoys playing w/me hence his name Run Away Robby but I call him Robby for short I know he’s not afraid cause he comes back and puts his bell up so I will knock it down
I’ve had a few. parakeet’s in the past so I know how to read their body language/facial expressions/
Yeah, they don't always run off because of fear 😊 They are very playful creatures that can make games out of many things. Your Robby sounds like a very sweet bird 🥰
My birds clean themselves in front of me and eat in front of me but when I put my had in front of the cage they get pretty scared any trips for me?
You don’t have to sell her you can keep her in a separate cage instead (if you have the money for another set up)
What greens are those , thanks.
In the video it's either parsley or coriander 😊 But those two can sometimes cause problems for budgies so nowadays I give wet endive, grass, basil, mint or Romain lettuce instead. Or carrot greens. They especially love endive 😁
that video was sooo nice but i have a question what does it mean when my budgie is fighting more than usal
Often it is because they're hormonal or they're molting. Then they can be more irritable and fight with others. Sometimes it's because they want to be the boss of the flock or because they simply don't like one or more birds in the flock. It really depends on the situation 😊
I have six budgies in a cage is it possible training them at a time
It's possible to train them, but it will be more chaotic and progress will be slower.
Wow
Pruning is when you cut bits off a plant. Preening is the word you're looking for.
Yes I know 😋 Several people have pointed it out. I was mixing up the words, but it won't happen again now 🤣
What kind of green leaf I can put for them?
Hazel is one of their favorites. They also like fresh herbs like basil and parsley (in small amounts). Carrot greens and spinach (in small amounts) are a favorite. Some like dandelion and they love wild grasses.
You can also try groundelder, chickweed or maple tree (not red maple).
My baggie does not fly or move much is this a bad sign
It depends on a couple of factors 😊
- The personality.
At the end she could only sit in a corner on the bottom of the cage
it's being 8 months and my bugies are afraid of me whenever i try to touch them or show them my finger and sign to sit on my finger. what to do?
It's quite normal for budgies to act like that. 8 months might seem like a long time, but many budgies need months to years to adjust to new things. They really need to be trained in a specific way to help them feel more comfortable around you.
Some things that are important when approaching them:
- Never make sudden movements, but move in quite a slow, calm way
- Don't try to grab them or chase them
- Avoid touching the feet, tail, back, and belly. Safer places to touch are the beak or top of the head because that's the area they use to 'test' things
- Try not to approach silently, without making any noise, because that is how predators approach prey (like birds). It's best to speak calmly to your birds as you come near them or sing or whistle
When your birds are still scared of touching, it's best to take some steps back.
Where can I grass salads
Do you mean fresh grass? We just pick it in areas where there is not much traffic. Like walking trails and such. I hope I understood your question well 🙂
