It’s important that it wasn’t treated with chemicals. You could look for sand especially for birds/pets or otherwise something that is used for children (like sandbox sand) or plants (organic soil). I don’t have much experience with sand myself since I used shells and wood chips. I hope you find what you’re looking for!

Placing them in direct sunlight in a dry place can also help a lot. It naturally kills molds and such. Maybe using a hair dryer on the hottest setting also works? 🤷‍♀️😋 Or pouring boiling water over them. Surely that also kills unwanted bugs.

Yeah, unfortunately Misty has problems with her beak. I think it's also because of old age. Thankfully most days she's happy and just doing everything like the others :)

Most budgies won’t lay eggs when they don’t have a nest 😊👍 They sometimes mate but that doesn’t mean the female will lay eggs.

Sorry your budgie couldn’t enjoy the baby budgie sounds. I also enjoy videos more without music but most viewers said they prefer with music. I was thinking of posting some videos of our birds without any music 😊

I’ve never heard or read anywhere that it’s unsafe 😊 It’s also used a lot in natural bird toys. Our birds have had coconuts for years and they’re fine 👍😊

I get your frustration. It can be a big problem with budgies 😅 I heard from some people that it can be caused by hormones. When they are too hormonal they scream a lot. Sometimes it’s caused by mirrors. Or by lack of sun or a nutrient deficiency. Giving a fish oil supplement sometimes helps with improving their nutrition. And feeding them some greens weekly. I also saw a trick from one bird owner. It sounds kinda silly but she said she screams back at her birds when they scream and that makes them stop. She said in bird psychology it works like that 🤷‍♀️ Do your birds also have cork wood? I noticed some of our “screamers” were so busy chewing cork blocks that they had no time to scream 😋 I hope you find a solution! We’ve also had budgies that screamed more than others. The three we have currently are like angels in that sense-they almost never scream.

It depends on the situation and the budgie :) Sometimes they are only hormonal temporarily because it’s the mating season. That can last several weeks to months. Sometimes the hormonal behaviour is caused by the circumstances, like: - A nutrient deficiency - Lack of sunlight - Stress - Being stimulated by a mirror Some ways you can improve it: - Give a more varied diet to make sure they get their nutrients - Give them time in direct sunlight - Remove mirrors that they might have I hope your budgie improves 🤗

Our birds have eaten it in the past and they didn’t have issues. I think it depends on the part of the plant and how much and how often they eat. I found this about it: “Aloe is bird safe the plant is not. Chewing the layer between the leaf and the gel can cause serious intestinal upset. Parrots can’t eat aloe vera leaves due to the latex between the gel and the leaf. The latex section of aloe vera contains aloin. This is a yellow, bitter sap, also known as barbaloin. Aloin is a hydroxyanthracene, which is a natural irritant laxative. Because of this, aloin can cause intestinal irritation. Although the symptoms may be mild, the severity may increase after long-term ingestion. Common symptoms of aloin poisoning include: Abdominal pain Nausea Diarrhea”

@misty_blue yes I wanted just to warn you and others about that only that the layer between leaf an d gel can cause intestinal upset and stuff like you can mention to people which parts to eat but personally I don't use it cuz it's risky . A tip: some home remidies you can use and share you can give your birds holy basil ( tulsi) or neem leaves boiled and diluted water( or fresh leaves) it has many things which can save budgies ( once a week only one thing ) and you can similarly give diluted carom ( ajwain seeds) boiled in water it also helps in cold or stuff just remember to keep diluted

Thanks for the warning and all the tips. I really appreciate it :) I do know aloe vera can be quite strong so it’s true that it’s important to be very careful with it. I personally don’t feed it to them either (just twice in the past).

That’s very likely that your budgie was doing that because of the heat :) I think generally it’s just a way to catch the attention of someone. Our budgie was doing it to impress our female budgie 😋 But they have many different reasons for their behaviour.

@@jonisolis9645 we bought it. I’m not sure what mesh they used but we added another layer with smaller holes and I think it was treated with zinc to prevent rust. I’m not completely sure because it’s been a while since we bought it.

That’s typical haha. It takes quite some time for them to get used to you. Some stay shy their whole life. But when you interact with them daily some of them will start coming to you 😊 Even when you don’t have millet 😋

@@misty_blue i let them out the cage sometimes. They'll come near me while exploring the room. I don't think they kno how to play with toys yet. For now all they wanna do eat and look around. I plan to make foraging toys for them soon

@@avfc666s if you buy the bark ready for use, it’s important that it’s not treated with harmful chemicals. If you gather bark yourself, you can clean it with products that do not harm your birds (just hot water or water with vinegar). It also helps to dry it in the sun because the sun kills off molds. The main goal is that there are no harmful insects and substances in the bark :)

@@Gracie-crochets our birds have also had that. Especially when there’s stormy weather, they often get scared at night. I’m not quite sure why some budgies have those night scares 🤔 Is it very dark in their room? I’ve seen some people who put a night light and it helped calm down their birds

Usually the street lights Shine abit through the Curtain but we do live in an industrial area so it might have been something that got knocked over out side but I will try a night light. thank you

Based on my search crepe myrtle is safe. People do recommend avoiding smaller branches that had flowers because they could cause issues. But the other branches are fine. The other myrtle types are seen as unsafe but crepe myrtle is an exception.

I recommend first learning a lot about breeding budgies. It’s not easy to take care of baby budgies, so it’s important to know what you’re doing
