Honestly, don't worry about using your toilet. Sure, it's not a pleasant thought to start with, but it really isn't a problem once you've done it a couple of times. Put it this way, if you're not grossed out by changing a baby's nappy, then emptying a toilet is a doddle. The same thing happened to our breakaway cable last week - I must sort that out before we go out on another trip. Great vids - thanks for sharing, K.
So cool seeing you in my back yard. On the ferry reminds me of my trips away with my wee dog to dog shows (now past). My sister and hubby have bus ( and had cat) and last yr came up to this site so i joined them. Love the lambs. So many memories, thanks. Man told me other day unlevel caravan affects gas ?flow and dangerous. Have you heard this?
Hi Karen well done , you amaze me that journey in the dark was quite frightening considering you didn’t know where you where going but you did it 👏👏👏 that looked a nice site 👍 Your brake cable won’t cost much and they are quite easy to fit they tend to go like that after a while 🤪
Thanks! That trip in the dark and rain is not something I'm keen to repeat! haha. It was such a peaceful spot. I'm now on my 3rd break away cable *sigh*.
Hi Karen, i was brought up in picton and went to school at Tua Marina school whats just around the corner from Koromiko, ahhhhhhh the memories I cant wait untill i hit that road and revisit these areas again
Pretty sure my older brother Tom Hart was Principal at that school back in the 70's. The school house they lived in was badly flooded when the levy walls broke away.
@@TravellingK Now a village of permanents eg 5 wheelers etc, as i have visited clients there. Busy road access was the councils problem and would cost to much to fix. 😊
Welcome to the South Island. I just recently found that campsite when we loaded our caravan to the local NZMCA branch for their meeting held there. Lovely location, and even though its just down the road we plan to head there occasionally
I towed a big older style caravan down to Nelson from AK, behind my Toyota HiAce van, longer than your Nissan. The Blue Bridge ferry I was on was not drive on drive off,but there was plenty of turning space inside and the staff are always most helpfull with the vehicals. The lane I parked on,went round and came back out again as I think they all do.But the RSA car park "POP" in Picton is very small and has no room for caravans as I soon found out after driving along the no exit very narrow rd,and needed to reverse all the way back out of there.Being a Freedom Camper and not useing camp sites,I parked in the domain feild under the trees, but someone rang the council and I was soon told to move !!. Ha ha.
When in Wellington and waiting for the ferry crossing,I normaly park at Evans Bay marina.Good toilets and waste dump.I think you are allowed to stay there up to three nights. Can get congested with "People mover/vans" though, but all have to be self contained certified.Plenty of turning room for a caravan if not congested. There is the old rugby feild over at Miramar just opersite the petrol station and befor the AirPort. Turn left off the main rd to the airport and it's behind the trees easy to find.If you are a Plane spotter its good for that. BK burger 3 mins walk has the toilets.Good flat ground with plenty of access in and out.No congestion.

Such a plucky kiwi lass! You really are showing us all that you have to grab life by the scruff of the neck and give it a good shake (no pun intended given you experienced a small earthquake). If you are in the North Island over Christmas and head North of Auckland - Waipu Cove Motor Camp - please call in...look for twin-axle Bailey Unicorn and Black Ford Ranger! Cup of tea will be on the billy!
Thanks! I like that phrase, haha. I'm in the south island over Christmas too but hopefully catchup at some point. I'm aiming to go to the Covi Supershow next year in Auckland!
Hi Karen, had we known you were in Wellington, we would have given you a farewell on the ferry. The weather you got in Picton last night, we are now getting here in Wellington and lower Hutt this morning. 0822hrs. Bob and Lina. This was my area years ago when i was a MOT officer based in Picton. I know it well. Are you going to Westport my home town?
Oh, no good with the weather! And great to know you are in Wellington.... hopefully catch-up sometime. I'm behind with my videos... already explored Westport and it was wet🌧️. Made it up to Karamea too - love that place.
Morning K yes I’m in Cleckheaton in West Yorkshire I love when you travel your country side reminds of Yorkshire rolling hills no matter what the weather. What are your travel plans and how long you in the uk for?
Great! Looks like I'll be spending a bit of time around Yorkshire. My travel plan is very vague at the moment as I find out where everyone is based and try to organise some meet-ups. Looks like I'll have about 45days to travel around the UK. I do think the north island of NZ looks like England.... the south island is maybe closer to Scotland in parts!
Hi Karen, a recent documentary on BBC radio was talking about the earthquake in NZ in 2016... claimed that it was so severe that the north and South Island moved closer by 5 meters with one island lifting by 6 meters and the other dropping by 2 meters? Is that factual? Another great video. We have never "properly" used our toilet either. Our rule is whispering only, no shouting allowed!! Another great video. Keep them coming.
We've had a couple of bad quakes. I just saw the damaged building from the 2011 earthquake in Christchurch... still being fixed. The 2016 quake destroyed the main highway near Kaikora which was closed for a loooong time. I heard new bays were forms and a new lake in the mountains, but hadn't heard about that much earth movement?!?! I like your rule, hehe🤐
@@TravellingK Couldn't believe it when I first heard it Karen. I have never ever experienced an earthquake or even a tremor. Must be very unnerving. We don't have any here in Ireland. Only political earthquakes!!
Hi Karen, dont worry about driving in the night, i used To do it for 1300 km but on french hi-way, but i Will be affraid To be stuck on mud ! In june , have you planned To go in France or only in UK ? I leave in North of France near Calais !? See you later. Denis.
