@@nekonomicon2983 Once you separate someone from their family the effect is 2 fold. First off, there's no longer an outside perspective as a frame of reference. No regular phone calls with mom where one could ask, "Is it weird or bad if my partner acts like this?" The law of the land becomes whatever the abuser can normalize via manipulation. Secondly and more morosely, the people most likely to alert who needs to be in an emergency are out of the picture. Things can get absolutely heinous and your best bet is a brave friend(assuming that victim is allowed to have any), or a stranger who is considerably more nosey than most are comfortable with being.

14:29 if my daughter starts acting strange, crying saying she wants to come home, and then her boyfriend says “she’s gone, oh and btw she doesn’t want to talk to you” I would see red, I would go feral, and I’d immediately start looking for her myself. I am in absolute disbelief that her mother was just like “welp, that’s that i guess” ??

I have a mother like that. When I was a child, I had a bad accident and cut my leg open. I had a huge gash that clearly needed stitches. I wasn't even taken to the doctor. My parents had a party they wanted to go to instead. I just made a dressing for myself out of tissues and sticky tape. I had a horrible puffy red scar on my leg for years before it finally started fading. My mother plays the victim now that she doesn't have a good relationship with her kids. Says she doesn't even have any memory of me cutting my leg open. People with parents like that end up with depression and low self esteem.

Some of us are extremely unlucky to have mothers who just straight up didn’t care, would aggressively abuse us and then play the victim to everyone else around them. Everyone saw through my mother tho and when I turned 18 I had a LOT of help escaping. Like she’d encourage my brothers violent attacks and she’d have an attitude of
“Oh he knocked you out and strangled you again? Well you probably deserved it and are being a drama Queen”
The hospital did NOT share this sentiment are were enraged on my behalf because I had a really bad concussion (probably around age 16? Was attacked regularly but this specific time would’ve been around 16).
Apparently she still cries to anyone who’ll listen that she has a bad relationship with her son (my brother) because he’s a raging alcoholic and violent when she literally bought him alcohol constantly from age 12 and encouraged his violence, and she’ll also cry to anyone who’ll listen that I haven’t spoken to her since my escape (I’m 34 now, so 16 years). Folk fully understand she is at fault for having no relationship with me and being unable to contact me at all, and the folk she cries to have met my brother and just side eye her like “you literally created the monster he is”
So yeah, some of us are extremely unlucky and end up with mothers who just do NOT care in the slightest because they view us as burdens. The person above me mentions how kids from this background are likely to end up with depression and they aren’t wrong, like as glad as I constantly am that I am fully free and safe, I still struggle daily with cPTSD because of my childhood and the FREE depression that comes with, but honestly? I’d happily take my depression and PTSD over having contact with my biological mother and brother any day.
The fact you are angry hearing how Karlie’s mother neglected her in this situation and clearly didn’t care shows me that you’re a wonderful, loving and caring mother, every time I hear about a loving mother like yourself it gives me hope in this world ❤

I want to add here for some geographical context (as an Australian), with the second case of the mother and little girl,
Australia is big, a lot bigger than some people realise it’s almost as big as the US, it takes weeks to travel by car from Victoria (the state at the bottom) to Queensland (the point at the top) he traveled to South Australia, the Northern Territory and NSW which takes could take a month if he only stopped at night, even longer depending on the rute, also the majority of that traveling is in central Australia which is mostly dessert and Bushland and it can get really hot there during the summer, I’m talking like 35-45 degrees (95-113f) the coast (the edges of SA, VIC and QL) are where the majority of the population are.
I just thought it would be important to understand the environment that little girl was forced to travel in, there are only a few small towns in the outback. And I mean small, it’s very easy to get dehydrated out there if you don’t keep drinking water regularly and the UV index in Australia is intense so you can burn easily too.

@theelderbrain Prison, regardless of whether the current status quo of how they operate or if they are good or successful in rehabilitation, is usually populated by people who have committed crimes that do not directly physically harm another person. Think theft and addiction. Putting someone who derives enjoyment from physically attacking others in a confined space never ends well. So the alternative is isolation. Many people argue against the DP because they believe it is too merciful. In some ways it is because there is a final end to that person and their experiences. But isolation and imprisonment can extend for decades. So the alternative of genuine rehabilation comes up and unfortunately there just isn't any conclusive evidence that certain people can be rehabilitated. We know people can be cured of addiction or even change beliefs they hold which were their reasoning for commiting whatever crime. But people who are either compelled or drawn to certain acts against others have not been yet found able to change. So, do we imprison for ostensibly the rest of their natural life, either in isolation which has been ruled trtrous, imprison with others who may be hurt, DP, or inhumanly experiment to try and find a 'cure'? Some words are mispelled to navigate filters so apologies for that.

You don’t have to understand it, but you shouldn’t speak on it if you don’t. Yes, obviously not all children that endure childhood trauma grow up to be murderers. But there is a correlation between childhood trauma and serial killers, even between violence in adulthood and childhood trauma. It very clearly does something to our brains as we grow. everyone’s responses are vastly different, but some of them do resort to violence. This is stuff we aren’t fully aware of and within the coming decades we might have a clearer idea than the semi clear idea on trauma that we have now.

Right???? Makes me think the people complaining have never talked to a Canadian before (I think he's Canadian?). Like...how he pronounces stuff doesn't even register to me because that's just how we sound for the most part 😂

You should make a video about people who disappeared mysteriously but were found alive in the future

I never realized until recently why your videos tend to put me to sleep right away(In a good way mind you, I always put them on if I’m feeling insomnia that night) when I was younger my grandmother used to put on forensic files because the narrator had a monotonous tone that rarely ever changed and you emulate that literally perfectly 😭 all that to say, PLEASE DONT CHANGE THE VOICE MAN

An ugly criminal being called "Loveless" is somewhat hilarious.

1 - I dont think we will know anything more about this case, too much time has passed.
2 - That seems to be like a breeding area for monsters.
