The biggest damage this build does is psychological.
And lasts long after the game ends, having a negative effect on all areas of the opponent's life.
Even more psychological damage is one Ghost using EMP to oneshot the enemy probes :D.

i don't play starcraft 2 since 6 years now but this is the only sc2 streamer i still watch. why? because he is always in a great mood with a smile on his face and that makes me kind of happy.
He'd be perfect for a Viagra commercial or maybe those Korean water ads.

Yeah I think Uthermal and a few Serral replays are what keep in remotely interested in SC2 now.
Agree. My favourite streamers are the ones genuinely having fun.
It blows my mind how you can commentate, remember lore, tell a story, etc. while playing at such a high level (chilly mixing in crazy reaper grenade micro).
In the twenty seconds it takes my girlfriend to ask me a question and for me to respond while playing, all of a sudden I'm supply blocked, have 1k minerals banked up, forgot three things in my build, flew my medevac drop into a spore crawer, etc. etc... mad respect!

uThermal absolutely cracking me up and I'm not even 1 minute in. This is gonna be a good one.
I just turned 50 and my youngest is trying to get me back into SC2... MAN let me tell you how terrible I am with the interface starting back up. =)) I watch these videos and get a VERY stilted view of controlling this game. = )
My big brother who is 41 now got me into SC 1 originally back in the early 2000s. Now this week I got him into SC 2 and he's having such a happy nostalgia.
Starcraft is such a wonderful cross-generational game.
That's so cool, I wish my dad played games like this with me, be sure to treasure it.

You joke about people watching your entire old series, but when I first found your channel, I watched every single past vid. Great entertainment, honestly.
If you turn on "show XP" for unit kills in the options, you can see whether you get kills on units that just got into fog of war (or mass-recalled, in this episode). It also lets you see how many units were killed in medivacs and other transports based how how much XP pops up on screen.
Anyone remember Z the RTS so much fun with a different angle on the RTS.

Yes! Was playing this the other day got it on steam for like £1 haha! Also the mechanics back then and what you were able to do on keyboard and mouse is shocking compared to shortcuts available today

Penguin brothers has always been my favorite challenge. Its a real build, even if its totally weird. Early thor drops especially fun.

My favorite RTS back in the days (except sc) was Warlords Battlecry 2, it was such a good game with a lot of races and heros that could capture ressource mining buildings

Rise of nations!! Man I remember spending hours upon hours on that one. Me and my best bud were having a blast playing it, we also dug AoE II back in the day.
Actually, AoE II was one of my introductions to the genre if not the first RTS I played regularly. Of course, there was SC, then SC2, C&C and Warcraft III.
Lots of good memories with all these games. Anyways, golden ep today as well, impressive micro and multitasking!

I would totally watch showmatches of SC2 pros playing old RTS games.
You have some really fun ideas. If the showmatch idea goes through, I hope you will consider having the contestants record their POV and mic/cam as well: I love the idea of watching you cast a fight then seeing Reynor curse his inability to control properly during that fight right after, for example 😂

A few RTS games I've never heard people talk about before: Armies of Exigo, Rising Kingdoms. These two games alongside with Wacraft 3 and Starcraft made my entire gradeschool and highschool a blast. Armies of Exigo had a nice vibe to it and great graphics for its time. Rising Kingdoms... The colony system makes it unique I guess? Although one of the factions there (Darkling iirc?) could've gotten some more love :D

Netstorm: Islands at war was the best game i had growing up, downloaded it online and found there was still an active community still playing it

DARK REIGN was a great RTS, came out around same time as SC1/Total Annihilation. It had really amazing AI controls. You could select a group of units and change 3 different sliders changing how aggressive they were/etc
Homeworld, dune, AoE, C&C, stronghold, SC:BW, WC, total war. The golden age of RTS!!! Hopefully we see something good out of the 10 upcoming 🤞

I remember some rts game that could customize your units. like flying chassis or tank tracks or hovercraft designs. Another one I liked similar to starcraft was called search and destroy
When i was a kid i used to love some Age of Mythology and then years later i fell in love with sc2. So that''s how i found out i actually liked the genre of RTS
Had to drop another comment when you started talking about older RTS games; Age of Mythology was the first one I played, and one of the games that really got me hooked when I was younger. Fueled my RTS love, and my mythology love! Didn't hear it mentioned (and missed the other video) so wanted to shout it out!

RTS and building sims are my favourite type of games, started with Populous, Dune2 and Simcity, never stopped.

the best Fantasy RTS i ever played was Warlords Battlecry 3. It is nigh unplayable now unless you have a potato to play it on, but it was an amazing game. you could level up your troops and some of them would join your retinue, and every one of the 17 races was unique. there were also 26 classes you could pick from . choice GALORE.
I looked it up, its called extreme tactics with the hovercraft and flying chassis designs

Thors and Vikings, its perfect. They can both attack ground and air units. And ofc, in a show honoring the Danes or Norse, drops would be allowed. Gotta raid people.
So many options. Thor drops, Vikings flying in and landing. Just fast Thors or vikings, brute force. Mass Vikings and Thors.
Think it would be pretty strong on their own. Its the perfect challenge.

I just looked up what a "mana mule" was. Turned out it's actually manner mule (I misheard). And then did a dive into MyuNgSiK BMing Rogue, and then maru doing it back to him and making MyuNgSiK cry. You thought penguinbrothers had deep lore!
Showmatches on old games would 100% be a lot of fun. Another thing to consider could be pros playing on old patches of SC, especially if you invite the guys who aren't on the pro scene for 10+ years. Imagine Clem vs Reynor in WoL

In terms of RTS I would love to see you play We Are Billions! I'd love to see your commentary as you play and set up your base, take on the doom waves and try to win the game on the hardest hardest difficulties which are insanely hard.

Here is a challenge idea I thought of. Start with being able to build two units, then in every match going forward you need to choose one unit to swap out and it goes on cooldown for one or two episodes before you can use it again. Also you can't use any unit for more than two matches in a row. Could be pretty chaotic. You could call it the bait and switch challenge or tag team to grandmaster.
As far as the statistics go I did get recommended this video. the algorithm is quite generous with uthermal content for me which is nice considering I have a rather diverse range. Hope this information is useful to you.
Regarding other RTS games, Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance (with the FAF community multiplayer client/mod) still has a quite active multiplayer community. You might want to check that out, since you haven't mentioned it.
Warzone 2100 is also one of my favorite older RTS games, is freeware, still somewhat updated by the community, and supposedly has working multiplayer (I haven't tried it personally, I just enjoy it for singleplayer/skirmishes)
