TeraFlex JK/JKU Heavy-Duty Ball Joints are engineered to handle the increased load caused by oversized tires and offset wheels.
FITS:
• JK Wrangler (2-door) w/ Dana 30 or 44 axle

• Factory-style serrated flange nut & grease fitting
LOWER BALL JOINT FEATURES
• Hard alloy tool steel slotted wear plate for ball/stud to socket wear protection
• Wear plate features grease channels for increased flow through entire joint ensuring longevity & predictable operation
• Magnesium Phosphate coating to inhibit corrosion & friction throughout
• Heat treated 4140 chromoly ball/stud
• Huge 30mm (1.18”) ball
• Factory style serrated flanged castle nut

• Adjustable preload can be performed w/ simple hand tools
• Adjustable end cap w/ two zerk fittings allow greasing access from either side w/out axle shaft removal even w/ larger RCV shafts
• Dual helical grease grooves machined in the retaining ring allow spent grease to exit through the low-profile seal
• Low-profile seal prevents contaminants, while allowing spent grease to evacuate from the ball joint
NOTE:
• We recommend Ball Joints w/out Knurls (# 3442002 or # 3440000) as they will not score the inner knuckle & open up the bore.
• We also offer Ball Joint w/ Knurls (# 3442022 or # 3440020) for ball joints that have a loose press fit in the inner knuckle due to repeated ball joint replacement or if knurled ball joints have been installed in the past.

Thanks for posting this up. I just did the ball joints on my 2015 JK and this vid helped a lot!
Glad to hear it!
I bought these ball joints. After reading the description, it states that modifications need to be made to late 2012 and up Wrangler models to use these ball joints. What are the modifications needed?? Are there other ball joints we can purchase that don’t require modifications?? Just wondering if we can use these in my 2013 Sahara.
@teraflex Which direction should the lower ball joint adjustment roate to tighten the preload? I dont see any indication in the installation instructions or on this video....
Depending how the special wrench is oriented on the torque wrench it could be either direction.
Thanks.
How do you adjust them when installed for RCV axles? The 3rd set-screw is impossible to reach even when turning the tires.
Getting these soon. Made a mistake installing Alloy ball joints. After just 14 months, they failed.
@Teraflex great timing on this video as I just purchased those ball joints. I will be running 37" tires...my understanding is these ball joints can handle 37's...is that true?
Absolutely!
This is this is the first place, I have ever seen that you need to drain the diff to remove the axle shafts. That is extra work that really does not need to be used.
thinking the same thing, no idea why they would do that. Getting ready to do this and not draining the diff
You are correct doesn't need to be done but they are just being thorough.
I wish they would do install with rental tools like most of us use. You have to install the lower first what's your typical Auto parts rental tool.
Is dennis no longer doing the voice over?helps me sleep like storytime..
not to bad, just really in debate on doing the seals.
Im noticing im having to torque the "preload" very frequently... almost every 3k miles. Just the other day, I tried to retighten the preload and I couldn't get the provided wrench to properly sit on the preload nut. Grease keeps getting in between the nut and the wrench and is making things very hard to tigthen. Any thoughts? Thanks.
Please give our customer service team a call, they will be able to help troubleshoot the issue you are experiencing!
I guess if you're wanting to sleeve the axle, now would be a good time.
It would be a great time to add them 🤘
On average how many miles are you getting out of a set of these balljoints? I have 35” tire and do mild wheeling.
With the adjustable preload, if maintained properly will last for years!
TeraFlexSuspensions I just installed these on my XJ. Do I need to torque the jam nut on the lower ball joint after installation?
I just got my heralded ball joints installed on my jk 2017 and one of the upper ball joint I noticed that the grease zerk broke off. What can I do now?
Please give us a call at 801-713-3314 and we can help you!
Should the outer knuckle be stiff after torqued to 70 lb ft? It’s much tighter now compared to when I was taking it apart! Thanks!!! Great video!
They will be a little firm, but 10 mins of figure 8s, lock to lock, in a parking lot should start wearing them in nicely and loosen up the steering.
TeraFlexSuspensions Thanks for the reply! I haven’t driven it yet, just noticed after I got the driver side installed. Super excited to get it on the road! Thanks for the superior product!!
Anyone have upper balljoint bolt spin while trying to tighten? Seems odd on a brand new balljoint for the bolt to spin while tightening. Made it almost impossible to fully tighten to 70 ft lbs.
Please give our customer service team a call at 801-713-3314!
I just installed a my ball joints having a little trouble getting the boots on the upper ball joints to seat.

What is the air hammer bit that is being used
That is a standard bit known as a Round Shank Chisel.
Ok, so I have RCV axles, my grease passages should face the tire right?
Please reference our installation instructions, on page 5 it asses the orientation with RCV Axles! teraflex.s3-us-west-1.amazonaws.com/Instructions/999009(JKHDDana30and44BallJoints).pdf
Gotcha! Saw it on the instructions when I got home from work🤙🏽🤙🏽
How will I know if I need to adjust these ball joints?
Lift the Jeep by the axle until the tires are just off the ground. Place your hands at 12 and 6 o clock and apply opposing pressure, feeling for movement. Also, place a small pry bar under the tire. With light pressure, pull up on the pry bar, feeling the upper ball joint for "in and out" movement. If there is noticeable play, its time to adjust and set the preload.
Just installed mine but can I get one lower ball joint grease to come out, Don't see it leaking out as a squeeze the grease
Try again after a few days. Sometimes the wear cup needs to get started and allow for a little grease to flow through the passages.
@@teraflexsuspensions awesome just like you said I see the grease now. Thanks
@@gotryche73 Glad to hear it Gabe!
The instructions suggesting to check the torque every 3k miles, does this also apply for the interval to re-grease them as well?
Yeah! That's a great time to check torque and re-grease.
@@teraflexsuspensions is it possible to re grease them every 5k miles when I do oil changes?
That would work as well. 👌
@@teraflexsuspensions do you have any instructions on replacing the upper ball joint boot? One of mine after 8 months was rock hard and cracked and I’m trying to replace it myself without repaying for the labor of having it installed.
It should just be able to be pushed back on once removed. You can see it in the older video here. It is the same process.
