You missed Wanda (dog Mink) saying that they’re not hostile nor do they hate other species, they even view regular humans as hairless Monkey Minks. Minks have to be the most open & loving species next to the Dwarves (Tontattas). Zuniesha moving about just makes them rare even though in Sabonday we see our first two Minks in Bepo and the Cat in Basil Hawkins crew.
Also I believe in the slave auction they had a list of exotic species and minks, dwarves, giants mermaids and some others were on the list

Another Awakening tidbit without spoilers. It's also theorized that the permanent landscape change in Punk Hazard from the Aokiji/Akainu fight was because they used their awakening during the fight.

FUN FACT: the nekomamushi song was written by Brook's VA himself. you can even watch it on youtube where it was uploaded 4 years before Zou began
It's about the VA's cat and because of that song, Oda got the idea of creating the character of Nekomamushi.

Just fun facts. Actually minks species was revealed in Saboady Archipelago in Auction House, there was a list with a lot of species in there and you can see the minks are in it. I think they are just rare because of Zunesha situation.

Also you could make the argument that since they are so rare, common people might think that they are a zoan user so they don’t find it weird.

I'm not sure if it's a translation thing, but Luffy actually directly says that he can only hear it (in reference to zou). Also, in that same chapter momo appears to accidentally see through the eyes of Zunesha. Its a little easier to understand in the anime, but i thought it was a little confusing in the manga
"Raizo is safe" is right up there with "I want to live" and "nothing happened" for me as God tier One Piece Moments.
I first experienced that moment in the anime. I was having lunch in my car and put my sunglasses on so nobody saw a grown man sobbing while eating a sandwich 🤣🤣🤣

It affected me more because it's the one people talk about less, so I was spoiled for the other ones but not this one, so I was shocked when I got to it
Cool detail for the Minks, when you guys were talking about being hated and all that... all the way back in Saobody there was a list of species and their base value in the auction house and Minks and Tontatta's are on that list we just hadn't met them yet, so yes they are hunted like Fishman.
tontattas were called darwves in the list, which implies that maybe there are other outside of tontatta island.
We had seen Bepo then though, just didn't know that was a Mink

Dragon said that he's heard enough because Sabo was talking his ear off about Luffy beforehand, not because he suddenly doesn't like him. I'm pretty sure that moment was supposed to be lighthearted.
Fishmen have no trouble breathing underwater that's like their whole thing. But Vander used a bubble under water because if he didn't he would be unable to move just like Jack.
57:14 Luffy teases Zoro saying you’re worried about Sanji aren’t you? Zoro snaps back to Luffy saying I’ll kick you instead of I’ll cut you. He is acting tough but clearly thinking of somebody. I just love their family dynamics
I want to address two more topics you didn't talk about, because I remember the theories going crazy at this time.
First, by the end we see Inuarashi (Dog Storm) thinking to himself if there is a traitor among us. Because how come Jack knew Raizo was on Zou and how did he find Zou in the first place and a second time as well.
Second, Momonusuke just mentioned in a little throw away line that he met Gold Roger as well.

Side note, around the time of Zou, Naruto was either close to ending or had just ended and Raizo showing off all those ninja tricks might have been a way for Oda's to show respect Kishimoto.
It 100% was! Oda had spoken out about Naruto not being put on Shonen Jump's cover when its final chapter came out, saying it was disrespectful treatment of a legendary series. Suddenly the next chapter he includes a bunch of ninjutsu, it was very much a tribute to his friend and colleague.

Mero is right, there is no connection between the two. The real way Oda made an homage to Kishimoto was drawing a cover page where Luffy is eating with Naruto (although Naruto himself is obscured behind Nami, which has the Konoha symbol on her dress). It's chapter 766.

The anime quality in general is much higher starting with Wano, but the episodes directed by Megumi Ishitani are some of the best animation I’ve ever seen and adapt the manga in an absolutely masterful way. The three eps she’s made so far are 957 (covering Ch 956) 982 (covering Ch 977-978) and 1015 (covering Ch 1000).

The character cat master viper was created after Oda heard the nekomamushi song, it was created by Brook's voice actor to his cat nekomamushi. Witch makes the song 10 times better imo

About the inspiration for the concept of Zou, probably when oda was searching for information about Spain and other mediterranean cultures to make dressrosa he saw the Dali´s longlegs elephants with city over them (a spanish artist, like the Van Gogh´s sunflowers in Dressrosa, that Van Gogh drew when he was living in the mediterranean coast of france, and for oher hand Doflamingo is like other version of the tragedy of Mcbeth and Law is other version of the greek myth of Orestes) . With so many things to mix, he decided for the next arc to use this like a island concept and with this decision he could make a more unique culture like the Minks and with more mysteries.
Great Nekomamushi cover! Brooks voice actor actually came up with the song on his own. Oda like it so much he created the character in the manga. There's a video of him singing it on UA-cam.
The Raizo - dono is safe moment is iconic in this arc, great plot twist and the moment where the Minks won all my respects and Zou is an breathtaking place. Garchu ~ 💕🐱🐶

Really love Luffy and Momo's relationship, one of my favourite in the series. I love how Luffy is tough with him and pushes him to be better, something the samurai don't.
For people who only really read the manga I highly recommend watching the "Raizou is Safe" reveal in the anime. The music is on point, Usopp's voice actor NAILS the emotion, and seeing the entirety of the minks all does a great job of elevating this moment.
Ngl the reveal in the Anime was 100 times worse to me just because of how long they linger and it made it feel much less impactful but even that diluted it was still a great moment
since i see other comments pointing out the auction house list, i'll have to give you a different cool detail that might've gone overlooked. if you go back to chapter 234you can find Doflamingo's jolly roger emblazoned on the side of the medicine that was keeping whitebeard alive. which means Doffy was supplying SMILE fruits to Kaido, doing gigantification experiments for Big Mom, and keeping Whitebeard alive with medicine. great stuff, guys! looking forward to WCI

With Zunesha.. I thought the reason why Momo had to give the order was because Zunesha could only hear his voice. Both Luffy and Momo could hear Zunesha but Zunesha could only hear Momo.

since josh said "we are all one piece", i had to bring up that one of the best one piece openings "kokoro no chizu" has the lyrics: "bokura wa hitotsu One Piece" which translates to "We are all one, One Piece"

Jack could breath underwater because he's he's fishman but he couldn't move. If eat a devil fruit you become and like an anchor.
Jack has an Ancient Zoan DF model mammoth and he is a full or half Fishman. If a Fishman eats a DF he can still breathe underwater but he is significantly weakened and can't move.
Be careful with comments in the next few episodes. The closer you get to being caught up, the more likely people may accidentally or intentionally spoil you on details and events.
So yes, idk if it's clearer in the anime or not, but all of the Minks are born gifted fighters who can utilize electricity that they call "Electro" to attack.
And they do specifically mention the full moon in the context that Meghan is talking about, not just "the moon".

It is not that dragon does not care for luffy... when koala asked him if he didn't want to hear about luffy he said he was sick of it, it was because Sabo Just WOULD NOT SHUT UP ABOUT LUFFY since he came back so dragon was already sick of hearing every single detail of his interaction with luffy once and again and again and again and again and again And again and so forth and so on...

11:30 Fun fact: Chapter 98, when Luffy was about to be exeuted by Buggy in Loguetown, a place where we know Dragon was, as he appears in the following chapter, in the top right panel of the last page you can see a blond guy in a top hat in the crowd. It's never been officially confirmed that it was Sabo, AFAIK, but it would make a lot of sense.
Garchuuuu! I love the Minks so goddamn much, my partner told me there was a moment when OnePiece just flips a switch and becomes a show Furries Love™️ and I Did Not Believe Her. After my introduction to Zou, I've not doubted her since.

I’m not sure if you got a comment about this on any of your Dressrosa videos, but I thought you’d appreciate it. We find out that the Tontattas know and respect Noland as a hero in Chapter 713, but way back in Chapter 292, we see a child ask Noland to talk about the country of dwarves, a seemingly irrelevant detail at the time that took ten years in real time to be revealed.
Just another example of Oda’s crazy attention to detail.

The minks were foreshadowed during Sabaody in the price list of the Human Auction House. A normal human's price is 500k berry and a mink's price is 700k berry.

Wow, ya'll out done yourself this episode. My favorite arc pair with my favorite episode of Volume One. We got a cover, we got a Carrot cosplay, and those impressions was a chef's kiss.
Re: fishmen with devil fruits, fishmen have gills like fish which is how they breathe underwater. If you remember back to Arlong park, Sanji is fighting Kurobi underwater, he bites his gills to escape.
Devil fruits otherwise have the same effect on Fishmen as humans, they can't swim/become an anchor + are also weakened in water. Jack is basically a sitting duck until someone rescues him.
I always loved how Zoro was referencing what Sanji said back in thriller bark before trying to sacrifice himself like Zoro and taking that as a reference to Sanji planing to come back, and how it came out as him not caring and so in point with their dinamic ❤️
Remember Merry? The man that give us ship in Syrup Village? We thought he is just a weird design character, turns out that he is maybe the first Minks that Oda introduce to us. (Over 800+ chapters!!! GOAT ODA!!!)
And back then with the explanation from Dogstorm about the Red Glyph and Raftel, Zou is maybe the first arc that give me feeling that One Piece will finally come to an end and somehow it makes me sad. Now yours Nekomamushi song make it so much worst :'')

Zou is my favorite arc post time-skip, I felt like it reminded me of old One Piece with the humor and the adventures. Remember the sun and moon are prevalent to this story btw. Also Stelly is Sabo's adoptive brother, no blood shared.

The marriage actually WOULD tie them to big mom. It was stated the Straw Hats would become her subordinates.
So a couple of things about the stuff you guys talked about. The shocking thing the minks do (Electro) is a biological feature of their race; there's no equipment needed and Carrot's glove is just to give her claws.
Also, Zunesha is indeed the largest animal in One Piece by a country (or elephant) mile that we've seen up to this point in One Piece. If you are willing to think about the nightmare fuel that is how long Zunesha's legs must be, (Salvador Dali reference) remember that Fishman Island was 10,000 meters deep. This means Zunesha's legs are a MINIMUM of 10,000 meters since it is also very high above the ocean's surface too. I think a fan did the math and, if Zunesha ever walked on land, it would be tall enough to surpass Sky Island; since that's 10,000 meters in the other direction.
Also side note, Stelly is not blood-related to Sabo. If you go back to the ASL arc, Sabo's parents mentioned that they adopted Stelly as a back-up child after Sabo's upbringing went south.
To help Josh out, the title that Oden had and that Momonosuke is the heir to is Daimyo and it's pronounced like dime (like the US coin) yo; so dime-yo.
Lastly, fun fact about Ryunosuke is that he was voiced by a VA of the same name Ryunosuke Yamaguchi who is IN FACT the son of Kappei Yamaguchi AKA USOPP.
P.S. How crazy is it that, with the inclusion of these Road Poneglyphs, Oda has managed to bring it all back around in his pirate manga to Raftel's location being in the middle of 4 coordinates; aka X marks the spot.
