Kishori Amonkar, (born April 10, 1932, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India-died April 3, 2017), Indian classical vocalist, recognized as one of the foremost singers in the Hindustani tradition and as an innovative exponent of the Jaipur gharana. She is considered to be one of the foremost singers in the Hindustani tradition and is an innovator of the Jaipur gharana, or a community of musicians sharing a distinctive musical style. She was a performer of the classical genre khyal and the light classical genres thumri and bhajan. Young Kishori began to receive vocal lessons in Hindustani classical music from Anjanibai Malpekar (Bhendi Bazar Gharana) and her mother Mogubai Kurdikar and later received training from tutors of several gharanas. Amonkar's work in light music has informed her classical singing and she modified her Jaipur gharana performance style by applying features from other gharanas. Amonkar's students include Manik Bhide, Meena Joshi, Suhasini Mulgaonkar, Arun Dravid, Raghunandan Panshikar, Arati Ankalikar-Tikekar, Devaki Pandit, Mira Panshikar, Shivraj Shitole, Nandini Bedekar and her granddaughter Tejashree Amonkar. Amonkar is also a popular speaker and has traveled traveled throughout India, best known for lectures on the role of rasa (feelings or emotions) in music. Amonkar received the national awards Padma Bhushan in 1987 and Padma Vibhushan in 2002. She was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for 1985 and the Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowship for 2009. She was awarded the prestigious Dr. T. M. A. Pai Outstanding Konkani Award in 1991.
In the third Bengal Classical Music Festival held in Dhaka in 2014, Kishori Amonkar with khayal in ektaal in raga Suha kanada. This raag is a combination of Raag Nayaki Kanada and Raag Sarang. In the aaroha of this raag Rishabh is weak or sometimes completely eliminated. The recital was rooted in the serenity and devotion one experiences. The audience was captivated by the nuanced sustained notes, deliberate meends and heavy gamaks and taans which beautifully describe Kishori Amonkar’s oeuvre. at the late evening the raag rendition was made memorable by accompaniments.

I am pleased to know that" bengla foundation " is bangladeshi.. Culture organisation... And feel so blessed... That there are still some people who are still working on our bengla culture and it upholding it's grace... Love it... Stay blessed and stay safe.... And again the founder of this organisation.... U know in November in Dhaka" The international folk fest " used to held.. Which though we the people of Bangladesh can connect with different cultures... And its music sence.. And enrich our musical formation.... But it matter of sorrow that some reason it doesn't hold yet.... Plz if can organise of concert world wide... Plz do it... Cause some people are starving... For inner healing... Soulful music.... Plz... I am still 19 years... But can see the cultural destruction of bangla... And feel so pretty of our new generation... Including me too. And my new one tooo..... And friends and family.... What we can do for the new world is make it better... Though controlling our bad or negative emotion by music.... Plz is someone are hearing me plz do something that will uproot the sick music sence... Music culture..... Namasker 🙏
