I first discovered you from a random Kick streamer that watched your worlds strongest man highlights but now im a loyal sub watching every video ❤ I just want to thank you for all the motivation you have given me to show up to the gym, I got my diet in check and all my lifts are up feeling great too 🔥
Been fighting perfecting my deadlift for months. Watch Hooper disect reapers deadlift position after one rep and i realize i have the same issue. Unbelievable the knowledge this man has. Now I cant wait to get back in the gym to try it out
Deadlift and squat is quite difficult for that reason. There is a perfect deadlift for the most average human. But the difficult part is being able to adapt to your own body. a lot of the best powerlifters and strongmen in the world have really really bad squat and deadlift if you compare it to what a squat or deadlift "should be". But it's still perfect for them (look up lya bavoil squat which is world record). All in all even for what mitch said to reapers take it with a grain of salt, Try and try again until a position feels 100% natural for your body while following the basic principal of deadlifting
I wasn't letting it hang out like he was but even the tip of reaching down as far as possible for a second rep will definitely help me with getting it off the floor more smoothly.
@@jaydog77 yea he still got to do crazy heavy amount of backwork exercises to get that kind of bench because having a strong bench also requires alot of back volume and strength, even if he never lift a weight off the ground. he still able to deadlift more than 80%of his max bench for reps without belt also but this is way different than a squat, his squat will def be much weaker if he never hit legs at all
200kg when not having benched for a year, mitch is a monster lmao. Also impressed with gym reaper getting 260kg x2 on deads when not really focusing on that at all! Strong dude
I just started following the gym reaper. He acts like a nice dude. He doesn’t do anything extra stupid to make his channel look crazy. He just does what he likes to do and that’s why people follow him.
3:48 Mitch, you simply cannot be bored of this lift, its just the ultimate gymbro lift. nobody cares what you squat they always ask your bench edit: apparently a girl in a san diego bar did ask about squat
real people care about your squat, not your bench. The scariest people to fight or to compete against in any sport are the ones with a big squat, not a big bench
@@genericnickname1 stupid comment. feats of strength are picking up girls and pressing em' over your head, not laying down and benching them, nor squatting them. It just tells me you're a fem boy. Let the girls do the leg work, men curl, pull, and press the real weight!
Good video. Make more of these videos. Would be awesome to see a video focused in more depth with one person and set up an hour training progression video with that one person in the future. Big fan ❤
Also, reaper has that body where he trained a dead lift for like five years straight he could probably go for the record. He’s got the body/frame for it.
Great tips for the deadlift. I tried the doubles today and was surprised I could do my top set weights without resetting completely at the bottom. Thanks!
I tried the hack squat machine this week for the first time with no weight on & I got proper depth and no knee pain which was awesome. Then I come home and watch Mitch doing an insane leg workout in the off season. Love to see it though.
For the deadlift I think Chris jones taught it best to me back in the day. Bend over and grab the bar kind of squatting like gym reaper is initially, and then just keep lifting your hips from there until you feel your hamstrings start to get tight, and that’s where you want to pull from. It’s like the same concept as getting tight and compact in the bench but instead of it being your back and shoulders it’s about your back and hamstrings.
Giving each other tips to maximize lifts. It tells me they’re both humble men. If your ego is too high then you may think you’re above improvement. I’m going to save this one for those buddies who think they’re the master of their own universe.
I've hear a lottt of people say they warm up with just the bar, and not just 1 set but multiple sets with just the bar. Been doing it myself and gota say it def helps warmup all the lil stabilizers.
awesome vid seems like you guys get on well. Also im surprised people find josh's accent hard to understand, but im from england so maybe its an american thing
That's cool, I think most of us who enjoy working out and have that passion do dream about a workout, posture , corrective measure on a failed move, or something 😂
I really hope you see this, at 15:46 when your talking about the second rep being easier because your not worrying about the initial brace, would you ever try something like putting 505 on high blocks, lifting it off the block and having people remove the blocks and then go for a rep, lowering it to the ground and lifting it, almost like a “second rep”. Like you said that second rep is easier so I wonder if you would be able to get 505 by setting up this way.
@ that’s my point, when deadlifting the second rep is so much easier, so I wonder if recreating the “second rep” without having to do the first would help him pull it
Damn I’m in my head like I never see Josh do anything but shoulders and chest lol then he calmly deadlifts 575😂😂😂 very impressive I still would like to see him attempt some squatting

Baker should try strongman . I know for a fact he can do it . Hes literally built for it .
he injured his legs badly, still kinda limited
Short arms aren't really conducive to being a good strongman honestly, for loading and pulling events they're a major hinderance.
