Whoa, Lucy, you really do shoot straight from the hip! I found this video very informative. I’m sure there’s lots of naïve men and women out there that go on cruise ships and think oh I’ll never have sex with someone or I’ll never get pregnant or I’ll never get an STI. Well, you need to have a big reality check because things like that happen all the time on land or see. I hope everyone that wants to work on a cruise ship watches this video because it has very important information for everyone.
This video should be for men too, they have to be aware of the consequences of adventures on board. In regards to periods, you can use a menstrual collector.
Exactly! Girls sleep with just as many men if not more... so men are just as likely to catch an STI if they refuse to wear a condom... and could also end up with a child they will have to pay for until it’s 18 or look like a bad person if not
@@keithpop3097 ooh right! Men can’t catch stds and women don’t have access to birth control??! ... I didn’t know that. Of course men face conquences too ... like when a women wants a baby and he doesn’t, so she pretends to be on the pill. Best for men to be absenent and not have sex before marriage ...a woman can choose to be a parent but a man can’t, not many woman are pro-life.. more men are pro-life as it’s a way to control woman’s bodies like you are trying to do now
Thank you, Lucy! I've been watching videos about working on cruise ships non-stop for several months now, and I've never seen this topic being addressed. Really, thanks!
This is a timely subject. It is a topic which it seems that no one is willing to discuss until now. Fear of religious retribution is at the helm of this fear to help people out. Thank you for another timely video. Great job. Well researched.
Great talk Lucy this was a great video. You should tour High Schools and Uni with this chat. So many of us were never told, your body, your choice. Loved "You don't need to have sex with him".
Very valid topic. I’m never going to work on a cruise ship but it’s still interesting. I work in a pool and periods are just argh but you still have to work regardless of what your body is doing. Thankfully I’ve not had any issues. One tip I have is that guys, if you have friends/family that periods happen to, it’s real nice just to have a small packet of tampons around. Just stick them in the bathroom cupboard and they’re there when or if needed. There’s nothing worse to have a surprise and not have anything available. Mostly we are well prepared but sometimes these things sneak up on you (always at the most inconvenient time too).
I am not planning to work on a cruise ship, ever, but still find your videos interesting! This one was not a lecture but a much needed reminder and applicable across the board. It is always better to be safe! Besides, hormonal birth control can fail, and I imagine that would particularly be the case with the pill which should be taken at the same time each day = 24 hour interval, except you are potentially working varying shifts (I would assume, depending on the position?) and travelling across time zones and eventually, your 24 hour interval is in the middle of the night...
Good info perhaps do a follow up, after research, covering contraceptive injections, moon/cervical cups for periods, taking ocp continuously and keeping pill taking in sync. Also the morning after pill availability if condom bursts or "other accidents". Is HIV testing available also? Familiarising oneself with what STDs look like for preventing and detecting infections etc. Include men also!
I think it’s so interesting that the men also wanted to add comments. Everyone needs to take responsibility. I guess the question to ask is what if you’re a married crewmember? Chances are that you would want to have a family even if you work on a cruise ship. For how long are you disembarked if you’re pregnant. If you have the baby, how long do you have to wait before you get back to work as a crewmember? That question was not answered here.
The guy I was after a week, took off the condom while we were having sex and told me he was going to get me pregnant! I cant even remember how it happened, think I was proberly drunk. I went to the medical centre to get the morning after pill and the doc shouted at me for not using a condom. It’s not fair because it was the guy who refused to wear one Xx

Hola Lucy. I use contraceptive injection can I take a 9 months supply with me from home? Will I be able to board the ship with a 9 months supply of injections 😅
Hi, so what happen if you are on the waiting list to work on the cruise ship then you find out you're pregnant. Would they cancel it, then you have to re-apply?
Interesting video! I managed to buy birth control from a pharmacy (Spain) I was onboard for 5 months while pregnant (shoppy) it was obvious made to do a test but faked it as I wanted to stay onboard . Totally agree you think you know someone, LOL Now happy on land with 5 year old. Love your vids!
Yes you can get over the counter contractive in most places in Europe, which is nice to know because hear it the UK we can’t.. wow 5 months and faking the test hahaha clever!
Good topic for people who are contemplating life at sea. Your own personal safety is down to you. STD are very common, when the guys go ashore. Some of them come back with STD. It’s a fact of life. And if you are a guy, it works both ways. Be careful, I sailed with good friend who trusted the wrong guy. I didn’t know the guy, she met him on her previous ship. She thought she was cured. He gave her a drug resistant STD. It reoccurred. She had to go home again for more intensive treatment. This affected her for life. I guess he had the same resistant problem. I wonder how many times he passed in on? If you do find yourself, with an awkward, problem, report it, get it dealt with ASAP. You will end up having to go ashore to the clinic. Gossip on a ship, Don’t be surprised nothing remains secret or personal for long. I was an officer, on Cargo ships. I went to sea to work. I later worked as an officer on Cruise Ferry. I went to sea to work. I had someone I cared about at home.
I think you are mistaken that this is only for women. I’m a man and find women’s issues interesting because I have never been one. Also, men need to know this information since we do participate in the sex act, last time I checked.
I think the reason she said it is for women is that not all men are interested in the topics....well, the subject matter yes, all that is involved not really. But it is good that you are interested!
Yeah im a dude still going to watch your video even meant for the ladies haha ... FYI had my last interview today to work as Security on the Ships and got accepted so now the process of getting everything needed for the Sea stuff and the Medical etc etc lol
The girl getting pregnant does effect the man if he's any type of real man. A real man takes responsibility and does whatever he needs to do to help the woman.

Ask the ship line. They may vary in answer. Lucy is not hr.
They make an injection you can do yourself, Sayana Press. Would this be allowed with a prescription?
