True. You’re right. The Philippines has it all: rich, middle and poor.. visible to the eyes of first time visitors. The infrastructure is being improved. The first Metro Manila subway is under construction. It is the biggest infra project, full underground metro that would connect the business districts of Makati, BGC, Ortigas, populated areas, commercial and residential all the way to airport.
Oh really?!!! A subway?😲How come I’m not surprised. Manila is just way more advanced than I could have ever imagined. I’ve only experienced Manila near the airport passing by. This is the first time we’ve actually explored the city. Can’t wait to visit Makati and Pasay too.
@@MomDuty it was pushed back due to pandemic… but government officials said they will open partially in 2024. Makati subway will be finished in 2025. Funded by Japan, China and government. BGC station is located near Market Market, so it’s just near High Street.
@@MomDuty Nice that your family spent few days in the capital region. Makati is also a cool place. Greenbelt has walkways that would bring you to other major malls. Slums have been reduced but it’s still a problem. There’s a place that used to be a huge slum district in Quezon City and now a bustling commercial place. Hello Ireland!👋🇮🇪 Can’t wait to visit your beautiful country next year. That is so great to hear that you’ve been here before!🇵🇭Did you come during the holidays?
Thank you for this beautiful vlog. I apologize for some negative comments here made by some of my kababayan against your vlogs. Some Filipinos are just overly sensitive regarding some issues in the country. This only shows how passionate Pinoys are in expressing their love for the country. Filipinos are very active on social media; hence, the county is dubbed the world's social media capital. Those vloggers who are based here in the Philippines fully know by now how powerful social media is in this country which, at times, can be very toxic. Kudos to you for handling those negative comments well so far.
Aww thank you my friend🥹😔you are so nice for explaining this all to me in such a gracious way. I completely understand and admire how passionate Filipinos are🇵🇭I’ve got nothing but but love for this country🫶🫶🫶
No apologies necessary. I am a filipino American so i can clearly see both sides. Filipinos are great at doing what weve already accomplished but being able to process and mitigate constructive criticism. That is one of our greater challenges due to crab mentality. But that will fade out as more people start to move into the maintream middle class... and vloggers will have undeniable proof of filipino progress. The more positive news gets shared the better our situation becomes 👏 😀 👍 🙌 All we need to do is employ our thick skinned nature in the same manner we survive typhoons... calamity and war, and just continue building ourselves as an independent nation. Together we rise
Isn’t it the best?! And guess what? We just got back from eating there again🤭The sinigang and lumpia are bomb🤤I ordered sisig again but I said it right this time “SISIG NOT SIGSIG”🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤣😂

Wow, I'll keep that in mind. Looks like BGC is the place to be. Thanks for bringing us along on your tour. On your observant son's Christmas lights comment when Thanksgiving is not yet celebrated, I used to look forward to hearing one or two Christmas song over the radio in May, June, July on up to end of January. On these early once a week or so Christmas songs were the highlight of my growing days in Pangasinan. Yep, a few years at UP Diliman, then to my second-paid- job, US Navy. My ONLY paid job in the Philippines?, teen vocalist for an orchestra in my hometown. Family farm was pro-bono I suppose. Enjoy your trip. Feeling envious from Orange Park, Florida USA.
Hello Federico!👋🇺🇸Sounds like Florida is treating you well my friend! Love hearing your stories about the holidays. Christmas is the best here! Finally! Somebody got it right that Makati, BGC (Taguig), Pasig are not Districts of a big city called Manila but part of what's called Metro Manila =D
🤭Took us a minute to fully understand the big picture. Nelvine got the map out and explained it to us. It’s easier to get when you see what makes up Metro Manila🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
Yup! Agree. I am actually spending time posting comments saying precisely this. "Metro Manila" is composed of 16 cities and 1 municipality. Manila, Makati, Taguig, and Pasig are valid cities on their own and are among those that comprise Metro Manila. We do not want foreigners to end up in Quiapo instead of BGC for mistakenly telling the airport taxi "Manila". 🤪
Ahhh I know🙈So embarrassing🙈Thank you for correcting me my friend. I was saying it wrong the whole time. But now when I order it, I make sure to say it right….C-SIG!🤪
Thanks a million Regi! You’re so nice!😭❤️Appreciate your love and support. Loving Philippines! We’ve only visited Manila so far. Can’t wait to island hop🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭

Someone else just messaged the same thing. And also mentioned a revolving restaurant there. Sounds like a cool place to visit!! Thank you SO much for the recommendation!!!🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭Gotta love the Philippines! Non stop things to do here☺️
@@MomDuty There are more places in Metro Manila where you will feel that the Philippines is not a third-world country. Eastwood, Ortigas, Alabang, SM City Bay Area, and, of course, Makati. But BGC is one of a kind; in fact, I think there is no other community in the world with that kind of vibe; it is very unique. Because if you live and work there, it's like you are in your own little world. Everything you need is within walking distance, from going to work to shopping, dining, visiting museums, visiting parks, etc.; it's all at your doorstep. Hence, many foreigners and locals are eager to live there.
YES, YES and YES!!! That’s exactly what I was saying too. There is nothing like the BGC community around the world. It’s a very using area. We are so blown away! The videos and pictures we take don’t do it any justice. Hard to explain this beautiful place!🇵🇭I told Nelvine and the twins that we should consider moving here🤞 Eastwood is on our list since everyone is recommending it too👍
Thank you so much David!!! We are soooo happy to be here!🥹We want to visit Cebu next. We’ve heard so many wonderful things about it🇵🇭Which do you recommend? Coron or El Nido?
Thanks for sharing this video. Hope German television will show the lovely side of the Philippine because peoples mentality there is based on what they see in their very very old documentary films about the country.
Oh yes. True. I hope you get to see a thorough documentary on BGC in Taguig City, Metro Manila. It’s absolutely stunning. Clean, modern, safe, high-end and an insane amount of shops and restaurants. Unbelievably beautiful!🇵🇭🫶

Oh wow! That’s impressive. Maybe we have to explore Manila more then. We’ve never seen so many fancy car dealerships, high-end stores, upscale restaurants, modern skyscrapers, street art or wide walkways. And ALL in one place! We were so surprised to say the least🇵🇭🫶
Oh I didn’t know that. But we’ve been going to many different Filipino restaurants and I see the different types of sisig👌My husband had oyster sisig and LOVED it! I had the best tofu sisig with green chili and calamansi 🤤
You guys remind me of the Family Vloggers, they're also vlogging there at BGC, the wife she's latina and the husband is a Filipino and they have two kids as well, I think the name of their vlog is lavida Tagalog I'm not sure 😆😊👍
I dont think my home philippines is an 3rd world country, because we will become an upper class country next year, and one of the fastest economy growth, but manila is way ahead when its come to growth.
3rd world countries only exist in africa that lacks of everything and even basic need like water, electricity, shelters and clothes. Ph🇵🇭 is a newly industrialize Country along with Thailand, Malaysia And Indonesia. in SOUTH EAST ASIA.
I’ve been reading the comments and people are referring to the Philippines as a “developing country” so I will use that term instead. Some people don’t even like “newly industrialized” as a term, but I’m not sure why🙈I just don’t want to offend anyone🙈Thanks for the explanation my friend!🇵🇭🫶🥹
You’ll love Baguio cause it’s where the best veggies in the country comes together. The north meaning the cordillera region is where the best veggies are grown. Heck La Trinidad which is next to Baguio is the salad bowl of the Philippines
Oh my gosh, I know! It’s sooooo big!!! We could only cover High Street in one day🥵we went for a walk outside of High Street and ran into Uptown Mall😲We we’re so impressed! We ended up eating sushi on the very top floor. Ahhhh so beautifu!!!!!! I need a year to see all of Manila🤭😆🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭

And I believe learning about the history of each region or neighborhood is so important right? Ahhhh gotta love the Philippines 🇵🇭 ☺️
Philippines is no longer a 3rd world country now. Just like vietnam and the others, we are now a developing country. By the next year we are projected to become upper middle income class country. We are the 2nd fastest growing economy in terms of GDP in asia.
I can see that. I also googled that Philippines is ranked as one the most technologically advanced countries as of this year👏🇵🇭Let’s go Philippines!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉
@@MomDuty Canada is open now and Banff is one of the places for tourists here in Calgary, better yet come during the Stampede summer season the most visited time, in our city. I love that “Newly Industrialized.” Better choice of words for me☺️That’s wonderful! Is SM Prime a new area? I looked it up and couldn’t find anything on it. Is Solar City on the coast? Ahhh can’t wait to explore it all. So much to see and do here. Never want to leave Philippines🥹🇵🇭🫶

@@MomDuty Hello. Yes you can find them in BGC: LA PICARA Manila at Bonifacio High Street, it’s near the area towards Serendra. Another one is : LAS FLORES at One McKinley Place, 25th Street corner 4th Avenue. Another one: AGAVE MEXICAN CANTINA at High Street , I recall it’s near Gap or Old Navy store. It’s popular among young professionals.
I live in California, there’s more litters, homeless, and hood in america. Philippines gotten rid of those litters since 2016. America is going backwards while Philippines forward. 👍🏼😀
Amen🙏 Where in California are you from? I’m originally from Southern California. And where I specifically used to leave now lies many homeless people and doesn’t look safe anymore. It’s so sad. I have literally not seen one piece of trash on the streets here. It’s insanely clean and safe! I wish California was like this.
@@MomDuty Glendale, and we love it Glendale. It’s the cleanest and safest city in los angeles county. But i’ve seen so many changes for the past 2-3 years. All of this because of damn protests. 🤦🏾♂️
@@GPbSWAGGINit I still think there is hope for California as a livable State. First, Californians need to wake up and stop voting for stupid and arrogant politicians like governor "nuisance" and others like him. Change in leadership both local and State and enforcing the law would be a good start. San Diego is still a nice place to live and work. Downtown San Diego is clean and safe to walk even at night. At least that is how I remember the city before I left the place about 5 years ago.
For Western countries, Manila or Philippines is very poor country. Well, God blessed us nowadays. We are not poor as in poor people but rich in kindness, and hospitality.
I don’t think it’s poor. I’m so blown away with Manila and how tech-ready it is. It’s also safer than my old community in California. I have fallen in love with BGC and can’t wait to explore other parts of Metro Manila! And yes my favorite part is definitely meeting the locals here. Everyone is so nice to us and has welcomed us with open arms🥹🫶🇵🇭
Try also exploring Makati specially Rockwell Center & its mall, Ayala Triangle Garden during the evening to watch the dazzling Christmas light display, Greenbelt Park & Glorietta Malls with its greeneries. Your kids will surely enjoy it.
FYI...the Philippines has been recently declared a newly industrialized country. A 3rd world country is an old term for countries similar to Somalia or Afghanistan! The politically correct term for countries in between the two is "a developing nation".
I’ve been reading in the comments that most people prefer “developing country” so I’ll make sure to use that in the future. Thank you for explaining it to me🫶🇵🇭
MOM DUTY - ITS NOT BECAUSE THE PEOPLE OF THE PHILIPPINES PREFER THE WORD DEVELOPING. BASED ON THE PHILIPPINES GDP AND GNP FOR THE LAST 5 TO 10 YEARS, IT IS CONSIDERED DEVELOPING. YOU NEED TO CHECK FACTS AND FIGURES IN ADDITION TO ECONOMICS.

Oh yes!!!! That’s what my husband said. BGC reminded him of Singapore a bit. But now that you mention specifically Orchard Rd, you’re spot on👌
When is the subway infrastructure supposed to be completed?
@@MomDuty it was pushed back due to pandemic… but government officials said they will open partially in 2024. Makati subway will be finished in 2025. Funded by Japan, China and government.
BGC station is located near Market Market, so it’s just near High Street.
Oh that’s coming up!! How exciting! I don’t want to ever leave Philippines🙈We already extended our stay😆

Nice to learn that he is from Pampanga… yes it’s the culinary capital of the country.
Now I know why his Titos and Titas are all great cooks🤤🇵🇭 His grandmother (who sadly passed away😞) made the BEST perfectly sour sinigang. No one could make it like her🇵🇭

Fun fact: Filipinos started celebrating Christmas way early (starting September - December) we call them BER months since these months ends in BER. Unfortunately we do not celebrate Thanksgiving but we recognize its a thing in the US. :)
Thank you Athon!!! So nice of you to say🙈Appreciate it my friend. What?! Ok now I’m really going to move here!!! BER months are my fav because it includes my birthday, my kids birthdays and my fav holiday😜🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
Funny I just asked someone if they celebrate Thanksgiving here and he said no. I think the states celebrates every single holiday plus more🙈It’s too much🙈🤣

Don't apologize it's really true that Philippines is a third world country and be happy for them because that's their happiness 🤣
Why apologize for the ignorance of usage of terms?
@@franciscoacerit234 third world is no longer a term in usage
No apologies necessary. I am a filipino American so i can clearly see both sides. Filipinos are great at doing what weve already accomplished but being able to process and mitigate constructive criticism. That is one of our greater challenges due to crab mentality. But that will fade out as more people start to move into the maintream middle class... and vloggers will have undeniable proof of filipino progress. The more positive news gets shared the better our situation becomes 👏 😀 👍 🙌
All we need to do is employ our thick skinned nature in the same manner we survive typhoons... calamity and war, and just continue building ourselves as an independent nation. Together we rise
Another positive review of Manila. Thanks for giving your honest review. Keep it up. I enjoyed watching .
Thank you so much for taking the time to watch! You’re awesome my friend!🥰

We’re going to come back during the BER months just because it’s so magical here. The Philippines misses you! Come back and visit. I just looked up your home town of Pangasinan.
it's sisig,dear Mom! love watching your vlog♥♥♥
Ahhh I know🙈So embarrassing🙈Thank you for correcting me my friend. I was saying it wrong the whole time. But now when I order it, I make sure to say it right….C-SIG!🤪
Correct! BGC is in Taguig which is part of Metro Manila. Enjoy your stay in our beautiful country PHILIPPINES.
I’m learning all about the cities within the cities🤪but I’m catching on. Thanks Vicky!🇵🇭👍

Hard to explain this beautiful place!🇵🇭I told Nelvine and the twins that we should consider moving here🤞 Eastwood is on our list since everyone is recommending it too👍
Love it

Thanks for sharing this video. Hope German television will show the lovely side of the Philippine because peoples mentality there is based on what they see in their very very old documentary films about the country.
Oh yes. True. I hope you get to see a thorough documentary on BGC in Taguig City, Metro Manila. It’s absolutely stunning. Clean, modern, safe, high-end and an insane amount of shops and restaurants. Unbelievably beautiful!🇵🇭🫶

I dont think my home philippines is an 3rd world country, because we will become an upper class country next year, and one of the fastest economy growth, but manila is way ahead when its come to growth.
Yeah I totally agree. We are blown away!!!! I just told my husband that I want to move here. I guess according to Google it is🙄
3rd world countries only exist in africa that lacks of everything and even basic need like water, electricity, shelters and clothes.

You guys should go up north to Baguio for a different city feel 😊
Funny, someone just commented from Baguio and I immediately looked it up. You’re up north but not too far. How’s Baguio?🇵🇭
@@MomDuty Baguio is "cold" for the Philippines. High temperatures are only in the mid 70s. Never reaches 80. It can get into the 50s at night.
Oh wow. That does sound cold.lol. Perfect during the holiday season though☺️🎄🌨
You’ll love Baguio cause it’s where the best veggies in the country comes together. The north meaning the cordillera region is where the best veggies are grown. Heck La Trinidad which is next to Baguio is the salad bowl of the Philippines
No way! So cool! We vegetarians loooove veggies😜This is great to know. Thanks so much for the suggestion 👍👍👍
Very helpful for our country image and standing for progress.

That’s very nice of you to say. It’s funny because when he was little, his pediatrician was worried about him since he didn’t talk much at 3 years old🙄🤦♀️but I didn’t see an issue with Knox. Now fast-forward 8 years…he can’t stop taking🤣Lol. He loves meeting people and asking them questions. He’s like an old soul👦🏻
Try to find La Casa a Latin restaurant there in BGC that is the favorite place of the Livi'n la Vida Tagalog.
I just looked it up but can’t find it. Is it new? I haven’t had Latin food in like 6 months! Would loooove to try it🤤🤣

I think Mitsukoshi Mall is already open when this video was uploaded. So add that to the list of malls within bgc.
Yes! We learned that after we posted this video🙈We added that to our list. Can’t wait to visit it. I’m super curious to see what it’s like🇵🇭
For Western countries, Manila or Philippines is very poor country.
I’ve been hearing so many great things about Makati!🇵🇭
Love d content!!!! Very informative ❤😊
