Your burbot looks a bit different than its north european cousin. The same but different :) The net material looks very coarse. What's the line thickness? I've 0,15 mm line when using monofil nets.
VK I am not sure what thickness the mesh is but the size is 5 .5 inch stretched mesh and is pretty coarse it don't seam to effect the catch. the nets do snag up under the ice sometimes so thicker is better when it comes to that it dont tear as easy.
We generally set in the slower part of the river or eddies if we can otherwise the current will lift the net if its too strong, other than hitting snags and rough ice I think your mesh would be just fine.
Ha! I should of put music to it. And the livers are big this time of year I noticed they get small in the summer time for some reason they get skinny in the summer so that might have something to do with it they eat good here in the river in the winter lots of eels and other whitefish for them and they get fat.
muskrat411 The eels run upriver and travel at least 200 miles inland and then go back out to Sea so they get to eat them for a month or more then we have the baby eels that live in the mud not sure if they are able to get them but I bet they do. they also eat whitefish I find them in their belly a lot even some small sheefish, pike and other smaller burbot.
We get our eel run in the late fall and early winter like end of October- November and as late as December 200 miles upriver. you might try dig in the mud along the river in the summer you might find some baby eels.
Excellent. We’ve been fortunate to bring in a few on the Tanana this year. Cheers

yukonjeffimagery When thinking again my net would probably be too fragile for a big river like Yukon.

Hey where's the Rock n Rolla. Nice burbot, do the livers get small this time of year?

I thought Pat Moore said eels only run for one week a year?

Not sure if we get eels I don't think we do but maybe just no one ever checked.
