"Girls will rearrange their entire life to avoid another person" Hey look, as someone who is currently trying to figure out how to go to my HS reunion and avoid 4 people I had prior beef with, I didn't need to be called out like this. I came to have a good time.
Honestly? As the outcast who probably only has 3 people to look forward to actually seeing at their HS reunions (with the rest of it being avoiding them saying, “oh, don’t you remember all the fun times we had?” When all I can remember is them stealing my school supplies, cornering me on the way to the bus, and eventually isolating me from my peers and teachers) there’s really only two viable options: you can either go, flaunt your stuff, and enjoy everything you can with wanton disregard, or you can choose to not attend to save yourself the trouble. Trying to actively avoid certain people is just exhausting and makes a lot of unnecessary trouble for you, when in all reality their nostalgia goggles probably have them convinced you’ve always been best friends. Now, thankfully in my case our class head was in Africa for our 5 year and didn’t arrange it, so now I have another 4 years to decide if I want to flaunt my stuff or ignore the call for the 10 year event, but still ;u; best case scenario, I’ll be in Japan for it so I won’t have to weigh the options.

I honestly think it was the female casting dynamic that made it so appealing, adding to the fact that they had powers. Contrary to the reboot these are actual women not teenagers (which makes it feel more serious and less like a Disney Channel series) plus these women actually could be sisters, they didn’t look cast to fill out a TV racial quota.

@@Lisa-co9ng yeah! Plus I didn't like the way they made the spells Latin. In my opinion, learning the spells was a reason I love the original. Also they are just shoving plots from the original that were developed and craming them in one season
How was the pilot bad, I thought the show was at its absolute best in the first few seasons then the writing started becoming more inconsistent and far fetched as the show progressed.
Morgan O'Brien-Bledsoe Balthazar wasn’t abusive towards Pheobe, he actually tried to be good despite his evil nature. I like the fact, however, that he was bad overall, just good to her
@@MamaMOB Keep in mind how that relationship ended. (Spoiler alert: poorly.) It's precisely why it's better than most relationships of that kind depicted in current teen-oriented media. And that's not even mentioning a miscarriage. It had very severe consequences. So I'm inclined to agree with the OP. When it was good, it was good. When it was bad, it was bad. It was a real and powerful dynamic. Imo the only one of the kind the show managed to portray.
Oh god. Charmed it my guilty pleasure. I just finished season 8 and for maybe the 100th time restarted the series. I know it’s a derpy show but I love it to death
Hailie Macholl i'd much rather watch the original Charmed than the crappy 2018 remake, the Power of Three will set us free! Or maybe it's the Power of Four Forevermore because of Prue, piper, Phoebe, and Paige! I recently watched the Ten-part Charmed Manic Episodes playlist, and even though I didn't totally agree with everything she said since she was making fun of my favorite show, certain parts were absolutely hilarious! In fact, I'd take that stellar playlist over this video, although I can't wait to see what you thought of the atrocious 2018 remake, Alex.
Molly Pop completely agree about season 4. I don’t dislike Paige (when I first started watching I actually didn’t know there was a Prue! And when I did finally see episodes with Prue I HATED her. But that changed) but the first few seasons are very....”realistically witchy” where as the last seasons when Paige comes in starts to get kind of “cartoony” if that makes sense. The seasons with Prue just have a more pure feeling for me.
@@SourCreamed Same. The storylines were really interesting, especially in the first 5 seasons and in Season 8 (I do wish they'd spent more time on Coop though, he came in too late). I still wish they'd done a spin off of the Charmed children instead of the remake.
This is how female characters should be written. They weren't all powerful at the beginning, they had strength but they also had flaws. They used their brains as much as their "charms" to deal with problems and they weren't afraid to show weakness. That's why this show is a guilty pleasure for me to watch; and I won't lie, they were attractive.
my favorite thing for me was that they were like tough Independent Women without having to say it. They just live their lives it was like Xena in a way you know? I was four years old when the show started and I looked up to all those characters you know and they made me want to be more like that. But these new ones it was like they have to say shit every 2 seconds that women are top and women need this and that and this and that. If you're tough you don't need to talk about it.
@@Quadelen I know it's supposed be different. And I know the difference between a reboot and a remake. I was just trying to say, there were so many possible outcomes and ideas for this show and I was disappointed by how it turned out compared to the original.

They said, "Oh, you mean 'Charmed'?" I said, "Yeah, I guess that works too. But I was talking about the Powerpuff Girls."
Charmed was maybe the only happy memory I have of my childhood, it was the only time me and my mother would come together due to our mutual love and investment in this show. I’ve been watching Charmed since I was in the womb. TNT still airs it every weekday, early in the morning, just like they’ve done for the past two decades. I watch it every day, it’s been part of my life and childhood, and I just honestly love it. It’s something I’ve watched with my mom- it can still make me laugh and cry, even if I know every single episode 🤣 💕
I remember watching Charmed when I was about 8, it was really appealing to me. The show is different than those teen shows. It was pretty good not gonna lie. I should really rewatch it
snowwhitewitch yeah her death was tragic I was not ready when I seen that episode it took me awhile to warm up to Paige but it made me love Piper even more. Piper hands down was the best character
I loved Charmed because it was about sisters who happened to be magical. They knew and understood and supported each other and argued with one another in a way that only siblings can. They are your first lifelong companion. But when Shannon left there was a hole that was brilliantly filled by Rose and how the magical bond was enhanced by them being sister.
Discovered Charmed when I was about 11 and it took over my teenage years, I was obsessed, rewatched every episode until I knew every plot and season arc like the back of my hand. As I approach 30, I look back now at the show as a very inconsistent soap opera with questionable effects thrown in Haha yet it had heart and a warm family quality. The early years were pretty okay but when the creator Constance M Burge left, the show really became AWFUL and made the character insufferable. They reduced Phoebe to a selfless child obsessed harpies and Piper to a dull clinically depressed moaner. Strangely though, I still feel very attached to the show and often look up what the actors are doing.
The WB had all of the shows back then: Buffy and Charmed were my top two favorites and are still great today. I'm not interested in the new Charmed they made. I think it would have been better if they tried to make a continuation of Charmed (i.e. the original Charmed Ones passing on the mantle of "The Charmed Ones" to a new trio of sisters which would give old fans a reason to tune in if they could have guest spots with the original actors) rather than "updating" and retelling the story. The first one is still very relevant (I believe TNT runs it for several hours in the mornings), so coming in with this new Charmed series just felt unnecessary to me. No more original ideas in Hollywood anymore...
Holly pitched in an idea with Chris and Wyatt, they turned it down saying it sounded too much like Supernatural, which is a shame because if you look into the girls’ kids, there’s so much stories to tell in there. Phoebe had 3 girls, Paige had twins and a boy, and Piper had Chris, Wyatt and Melinda. They could’ve made a new show based on that and it will allow them to cast new kids while paying tribute to the OG but no. Well now the fandom is divided because they shit on the OG so much.
JC I think ppl are making it worse than it has to be. The new show has great potential (more on the first season) ppl are just way too stuck in the past and like to be bitter
SoRandom Girl It could be that but at the same time fans did not want this. They wanted a reboot. The new charmed is basically targeting the charmed fans. I bet if you asked charmed fans if they wanted to see a new cast or old cast a lot of them would say old. The new charmed just doesn’t give the same wow factor as the original. I get that not everything is about what some people want but why make a show completely different from the fan base your targeting wants because those are the people who are going to make the show have viewers.
Shaniya Smith This. CBS/CW knew from the beginning what the OG Charmed fans want, but they ignored it. They scrapped Holly’s idea then asked the OG Charmed cast members to plug the new show? How can they be so insensitive? They could’ve brought a new spin to the original without shitting on it by continuing the legacy by making a requel (reboot/sequel) but instead they still did. They never paid homage to the original. So what can they expect from the fans of the original? Of course they won’t support the new show.

And then when I went to college I bought it all on DVD and still watch it all the time. I don't really like watching it on Netflix because they changed the theme song. But yeah it literally is the best show of all time. I kind of wish they would have done like a 10-year later series with them instead. Or at least done a show set in their universe so that we could have saw them again. But you know how that shitt works.
It had all the ingredients that made a successful drama sitcom back in the 90s. Tons of attractive young people, mystery, chemistry, good enough writing, music, and a splash of comedy. Man, I love my generation.
@@gregorsybeast4680 the show has been off the air for 13 years and has been on Netflix for AT LEAST 6... spoilers should be expected and it honestly takes nothing away from the show to know that ONE PERSON (who i personally didnt like anyway) dies.
Charmed will always be in my top 3 shows, I don’t think I would be the woman I am today without it. It taught me a lot, it was well written, everything is awesome. The only thing lacking is the lack of diversity.
Special effects are so 90s? I thought they were really good. Still do. And the most special thing about Charmed was the relationship between the sisters. Obviously the magic and other characters and drama(both magical and realistic) are important too. But, the fact of them being sisters, their bond, and the way being witches strengthened them as sisters and vice versa is what set it apart from everything else. And the acting was amazing. You could believe in their bonds, struggles, and joy. They made you feel like you "knew" those characters. When they struggled, you felt sad or anxious. When they were filled with joy, you couldn't help but smile along with them. Granted, most tv shows and movies do that to an extent. But with Charmed the depths of emotion and superior performance drew you into their world(figuratively speaking obviously), whereas most shows you empathize on some level, but you feel like the spectator. Charmed is one of only a handful of shows that really sparked a feeling of connection. Obviously on an intellectual level you know that it's just a show. But while watching it, it feels like so much more than simply watching TV
Alright here’s why for me: 90s feminism, Shannon Doherty, Alyssa Milano, delicious mens, supernatural stuff, and a fun story about a magical matriarchal lineage and legacy. It’s hella nostalgia for a lot of gay-llennials.
I've watched that scene where andy and pru get that bad cup of coffee in the hospital so many times.. never noticed he did that with his lips and teeth 😂😂😂
I was in 6th grade when I saw this show for the first time. Naturally I got hooked imidiately, I had posters all over my room. Every week I would by this teen magazine that had their posters, only for that purpose. Me and my sisters tried coping some of the pages from the book of shadows. Yeah, so obsessed...
As someone who's a fan of Charmed I only really like the first 4 seasons as I felt the quality went downhill after that. The overall tonal shift killed what made the first 4 seasons campy, fun and relatively harmless. On top of that Piper and Phoebe (especially Phoebe) became insufferable in later seasons as opposed to earlier where they felt like real characters. (Phoebe became bad as early as Season 3 right when she met Cole which ruined her character) but the campy nature was part of the charm of the show. But yeah the show has writing problems, yet strangely I can't help but love it. It's what got me into genre shows and overall discovery of more supernatural aspects. The show was never strong on its writing, even in its early days. But the earlier seasons had an enjoyable sense of campy fun that made it fun to watch despite the cheesy stuff and the protagonists actually had motivations to do things. Whereas in later seasons they are completely devoted of any motivation and barely start the plot most of the time. The later seasons also lost that fun camp and just became well, charmless. The only character I cared about by the end were Paige and Leo because Piper and especially Phoebe got on my nerves later in the series. Out of all the sisters Prue and Paige are my favorites. And Piper for Seasons 1-4 and Phoebe Seasons 1-2. I enjoyed this review though. lol
I guess that's something that happens with shows with a long run, there's a dip in quality in later seasons, nevertheless at least charmed had a better ending than lost and game of thrones.
To each there own...Charmed still had good ratings and viewership...i loved each season for what it gave and as for Phoebe,Piper and Paige they only grew season after season and the beautiful ending of forever Charmed was great...
I recently started watching charmed because my Grandma wanted to watch it with me. I can really say: This is a really good show you should really look into it sometime. 😁

I would watch it with my mom. I loved it. But I was like too young and got scared many times. Plus my mom didn't want me watching it either. And I never ever got to finish watching it 😞
But it's a great show
I would watch it every Sunday with my mom. I love Charmed.
I used to be obsessed with Charmed! I would watch it everyday with my grandma. I even made their house on The Sims 2. To this day, I have never had another family on The Sims last that many generations lol.
Heather Cutright This is the most 2000s comment ever lol
Same! I'm gonna build it on DQB2
Omg I genuinely used to do the same with my grandad, I used to have a subscription to the dvds and he would go collect it from the shop when he got his morning paper n then we would sit n watch them together. It’s one of my fondest memories of him 😊
Can you make a video on how to make the Charmer house on sims
I wasn’t even alive when this came out but I still grew up with it. I’ve been watching this show since I was a baby. Also I remember every episode’s plot by heart.
@Donky Camel oh I’m sorry if I spoiled it for you. I wasn’t even thinking about that since the show is so old. I apologize for spoiling it for you or anyone else. I will delete that part from the comment.

The Charmed remake SUCKS!
I agree with every point you make 😄
Buffy and Charmed are two of my favourite shows
@@Lisa-co9ng yeah! Plus I didn't like the way they made the spells Latin. In my opinion, learning the spells was a reason I love the original. Also they are just shoving plots from the original that were developed and craming them in one season

The remake was amazing
It goes on from a mediocre pilot to becoming one of the best shows ever.
I liked the pilot even though it was a little eh but 😭 still
Honestly pilot of nowadays shows are way worse...
How was the pilot bad, I thought the show was at its absolute best in the first few seasons then the writing started becoming more inconsistent and far fetched as the show progressed.
@@MrBurkistan it was bad for the era, but today it looks like a masterpiece because of how garbage pilots are today.
@@Miranda-gi9fx definetly not.
I still think that Pheobe’s and Balthazor’s/Cole’s relationship was one of the best in TV
I bet you think the Joker and Harley are a good couple too.

Hailie Macholl my tween crush was Chris was from the future 😂😂😂
KimberlyHoward oh my GOD YES. He’s still my crush, dude has pretty eyes 😍

Same got the boxset
I like that in the show they were not slut shamed. I have always feel bad about how society treated female sexuality & this show was different

I literally just started watching charmed, 21 years late, and even i love that damn show.
When alex has a video taken down without reason you better believe it’s coming back up
Discovered Charmed when I was about 11 and it took over my teenage years, I was obsessed, rewatched every episode until I knew every plot and season arc like the back of my hand.
The poem is actually based off of the witches creed by Doreen Valiente (an irl witch) although edited near the end to fit the shows narrative
“Why did everyone like Charmed?”
“I can see the appeal”
Pointless video lmao
I live how he says “the mom from pll” “ the wife from insatiable” instead of their names.
I don’t think the actors wanted to come back at the time. Also seeing a new generation is fun
Charmed had such a good theme, this show was about badass women, with magic and pretty young demons, that's why it worked so well.

At that time the special effects were definitely pretty good

I've watched that scene where andy and pru get that bad cup of coffee in the hospital so many times.. never noticed he did that with his lips and teeth 😂😂😂
I was in 6th grade when I saw this show for the first time. Naturally I got hooked imidiately, I had posters all over my room. Every week I would by this teen magazine that had their posters, only for that purpose. Me and my sisters tried coping some of the pages from the book of shadows. Yeah, so obsessed...
Ok honestly the 1st season of charmed was so 90's and idk how else to put it....but I did like it
Ew you only like it cus it's 90s
Well of course it was so 90s it came out 98. In fact the first two seasons we're in the 90s.
@@Oceanlinx I think Forever Charmed was a terrible finale. It should've ended at season 7's finale tbh. But nonetheless I agree.
To each there own...Charmed still had good ratings and viewership...i loved each season for what it gave and as for Phoebe,Piper and Paige they only grew season after season and the beautiful ending of forever Charmed was great...
Ill tell you why: because the cast was flippin gorgeous!!!!
I recently started watching charmed because my Grandma wanted to watch it with me. At first I thought: Oh no... please not.. such an old school show.. ; but when I started watching I was like: Well.. could be worse.. it's not even that bad.. actually it's not bad at all... I think I can go on watching ; the last two weeks: started watching Season 1, started watching Season 2, started watching Season 3...
I can really say: This is a really good show you should really look into it sometime. 😁
I feel ya. I decided to re-watch the whole show 2 yrs ago or something. I think I finished watching the last ep last yr. And yeah it is cheesy but it's got something cool about it. I like when they time travel and dress up in costumes.
OLD SCHOOL SHOW Jesus make me feel old!
I stopped watching it after season 3 the rest not so much. My problem was with the phoebe character.
Thanks for making me feel older than dirt. I was 15 when it came out. I watched it live.
@@crunchyfresco I found Phoebe to be incredibly obnoxious. I get that there was a dispute between Shannen Doherty and Alyssa Milano but I wish they had gotten rid of Alyssa. Even if Shannon was the real problem. I've read she's a diva to work with.
The fact that I'm literally binging charmed now and this video shows up woah freaky 😂😂
I started binging on it about 2 yrs ago and finished watching it last year. There was a lot of eps I hadn't seen or had forgotten. As I had gotten older I guess I wasn't watching it as much towards the end when it aired originally. When it came out though I was the right age for it, 13.
