much appreciation for including the throttle setting for reference comparing to the rpm sound and performance of this little beast. much to look forward to as i slowly unlock its abilities while i crank my flying skills lol
Thanks BladeScraper! I've been looking at buying A X18S Tx for a while now, but wasn't sure if it was possible to replicate the same set up that Jonas created for OpenTX. Awesome!!
Yep for sure. I never actually used the OpenTX version but randomly at like 1am a couple days ago I decided to see if I could replicate it in Ethos (if nothing else, just so I can learn more about the OS) and a couple hours later I had it. Messaged Jonas to show him and make sure it was correct and everything seems to be working so far. There are a few differences vs the OTX/ETX implementations but it wasn't bad.
@@BladeScraper Again, awesome, and good to know!. The X18S is the best fit for me I think. Pincher, small hands. I need A Tx I can grip properly w/o it slipping in my palms, Currently using a TX12 for the OMP models, but it's too small, doesn't feel right, sticks are too close together. I Like Futaba T12K Ergonomics too, but it's SO limited in functionality, Have a Jeti DS-14 and a DS-12 too, but they don't feel right either, DS-14 metal chassis it too cold (I'm in the UK) and DS-12 Top switches are too close together to be comfortable in my hands. What Rx's are you using for OMP helis, and your bigger models? Thanks!!
Glad I stumbled into your video and thank you for sharing the file for the M1 and the M2 EVO. I have them both and was flying them with my 16IZ and RadioMaster. I have Jona’s file in my RadioMaster, and when I purchased the X18SE was gonna try and do the same thing you did, but you saved me the time cause I know it’ll take me a while 😂. Can’t thank you enough for sharing those files. Can’t wait to fly my EVO with this setup. Loving the Ethos. The only thing I changed was the RF, using the SFHSS protocol so had to reverse some channels output. Great video and and you’re very skilled pilot. Thanks again.
If you put a vario on the Rx (use GR6 would be lighter than separate sensor), I imagine you could set a low altitude threshold and the have Ethos automatically set rescue below 10 feet for example (in idle up 1 and 2 only). Varios drift over time because of weather but as long as you reset the vario to 0 feet before each flight, it might work. Better yet... maybe just have Ethos mark what altitude you are at when you flick a switch to enable low altitude rescue and just use that minus 5 feet.
Realistically the only difference between the M1 and M2 models is the throttle percentages and rescue timing values, and I have no idea what values would be appropriate for the S2. It's just trial and error in that regard.
hello BladeScraper. i've been eyeing these frsky radios for a while and saw that u use one. what would you recommended the x18s/se or the x20s. also what receivers would u recommned to go with it and i will be using it with beastx and ikon/brain. also could u tell me what the ikon frsky cable is used for?
the x20s and x18s/e both have the same capabilities but the X20/S has a better screen (higher resolution, larger, and a bit brighter). The biggest difference other than that is just how they feel in your hands. I prefer the X18/S/E in that regard but it's all personal preference. The X18 series feels more like a "normal" radio, the X20 is more like Jeti (sharper corners). the ikon frsky adapter is for running S.Bus + S.Port in combo. This came out before newer protocols eliminated the need for it. These days there's F.Port/F.BUS (combines telemetry and control signals into a single bidirectional wire) so there's no need for it with most receivers. For receivers any "Archer" receiver will work, I like the Archer RS because it's tiny and cheap but it does involve soldering which some people don't like. Of course you can also use the newer Tandem receivers like the TD MX, but it can be hard to find where to put the large 900MHz antennas from those.
@@BladeScraper thanks for the information, also can u tell me if i need to use 2 receivers like the dsmx sat or just 1 archer rs reciver. I placed an order yesterday on the x18se with 4 archer rs recivers
@@BladeScraper Great flying! Huge thanks for uploading FrSky model files. I'll be picking up a Tandem X18 soon and ordered the tiny Archer Plus RS Mini RX which comes with a cable. Do you know if that cable can be plugged directly into the OMP FBL plug for SBus? Also, curious where you mounted it? Did you tape it on a side frame panel underneath the FBL? Any need to worry about shadowing with the carbon plates?
@@orbitalgolem91 I put the RS Mini on top of the FBL. The RS Mini includes a cable that plugs directly into the OMP with no soldering or crimping required.

Big Time Thank You! I was really struggling to get the rescue working!!
Thanks for sharing those !
What does the safety switch do? It also activates the tail swith but you can still take off just witouth rudder controle it seems?
Great flight! Can you share your setup of the Omphobby M1EVO flybarless system?
great flying
Thanks!

Would either the m1 or 2 file be ballpark for using with the goosky S2?

How much pitch are you running on this thing? Holy CRAP! that thing is INSANELY FAST!
I don't know the number, just whatever it came with out of the box. Yes, it's very fast :P
Will this work for just the m1 as well?
Yes, model templates are available for both M1 and M2 EVO on the Ethos website. ethos.frsky-rc.com
what battery do you use in your m1?
