Mike, thanks for the video review of the Kelty pack. I'm curious if you'd be interested in selling the pack. You implied that while you like the pack, the hip belt just isn't going to work for you. I'm watching this video in 2021 and considering picking up this on clearance but I might be interested in purchasing the pack from you if you still have it and aren't using it. Let me know. Thanks again for the great review.
Thanks for the good overview. Watching in 2020. I already have my fav pack but I saw these on clearance for $79 and was curious. Looks like they ~almost~ had something interesting.
I just got it for the $80 it was extremely comfy in the store and seemed like the build quality was definitely worth $80. hopefully, it does well for me
@@watchmikehike5568 Hello Mike. Thanks for this Kelly Siri review. I know this is a long shot but I was curious if you still have the pack that you reviewed? You say in the video that while you like the pack, the hip belt just isn’t going to work for you. If you still have the pack and are looking to get rid of it, I’d love to buy the pack off of you. Just let me know. Thanks.
looks like kelty is trying to get something on the market to compete with the osprey and granite gear thru hiker packs with the rise in popularity of thruhiking and long distant backpacking. hopefully they fix the hipbelt problem because for someone using the pack daily that would be a major concern on the hips..
The belt is around your waist and not sitting on your hips! That's why it won't cinch tighter... waists are always smaller than hips. Lower the belt to sit on your hips and it'll be fine.
Hey Amy, Thanks for watching. You are not the first person to mention the position of the hip belt. I believe the position looks off because of how the shirt what I'm wearing hangs so low. I have the hip belt cradling the iliac crest of my hip bones where it should be. The hip belt just did not fit me as I mentioned in the video This is one of seven packs that I own and the only one that I have an issue with. Thanks again for watching. Mike
As other commenters have mentioned, it sure looks like you are wearing the pack above your hips, instead of covering your hips. The thing that concerns me most about this pack is that there are very few compression straps, making it non-ideal for small-volume loads.
I have the hip belt cradling the iliac crest of my hip bones where it should be. The hip belt just did not fit me. The seam on the bottom edge of the hip belt is what was rubbing me the wrong way. Thank you for watching and for the comments. Happy Trails.
Great review. Just ordered one on eBay but got the s/m after seeing your review. Thanks for the honest review/

@@jarredlkling I love the look of it. Both the green and the black/brown color schemes were cool, too.
I really wanted to like the pack and I liked everything but the hipbelt. Just couldn’t make it work for me.

If glad it worked out for you. I really liked the pack but the hip belt just didn’t work for me.

External Frame backpacks are making a come back...
Hi.. Whats ur height? Seems the bag dont fit on you
Nice review....I'll keep my GG, ULA and MLD....to many things going on to create issues as you stated....lots of gimmicks for newbies...
You're using the hipbelt the wrong way and that's why it is rubbing you.
In what way do you feel I'm using the hip belt wrong? It is too large for my waist.
It looks like the hip belt is sitting on top of your hips. Try wrapping it around your hips instead.
