Ever since i heard Alan Jacksons "I'm in love w/ ya baby, but I don't even know your name" or whatever, I was blown away by the lead work, only to come to know it is Brent Mason in all his glory...wow..smokin stuff..
Genz Benz Black Pearl 30. Class A 30 watt, single channel with volume, boost, 5 modes, (deep, bright, natural, thick and dark) top boost, reverb, master volume. Footswitch for boost only. Ballsy and versatile. I've been playing one for a few years (1x12 combo)
@wampcat Thats a hell of a system to put together, I just play in a bar band and some stadium gigs with a tribute band, but I use a switching system with axess electronics as the buffers, how do you get all those amps to run safely
I just got Brent's Smokin' Section and other than the little clip off of the end of this video, it's not that country. It's pretty jazzy up until that point. Really nice but I would also like to have an album that is more like "hot wired".
Brian, I kow you've got a ton of questions. Is that a Budda twinmaster in his backline? I would love to hear Brent play a Velvet Fuzz or a Dual Fusion.
@alanQ119 Saffron is tough to get. I don't think the Way Huge guy is making them. But it was one of the smoothest I've ever played through. I personally like the Keeley. Very nice pedal
@alanQ119 Not sure. I work with him. He has been a good friend for years. I knew he had a keeley on his studio board. But neither him nor I particularly like them. I use a saffron squeeze I got years ago
Trucks is great, Brent is great. We are not talking about Mick mars and Ce Ce deville. Both of these Musicians are a strong part to shaping the music world. IMHO..
you know more than us brian but i know several years ago that was the case. a twin in a showman case! nashville lends to more raw amps sounds now more than ever.i suspect the rack hardly ever gets used.
he had a twin amp put in a showman head. alot of those heads are loaded down to thd hotplates and and run through his effects rack. nashville has changed to straight amp sonds now. the rack stuff is almost taboo. just a phase. it will come back around to rack shit. just watch and see!
Perhaps one of the most versatile, with chops to spare. Best? What day is it? Who's judging? Now if he would just get more of his stuff out in public. Skip the front men, just play. I don't want to listen so much to Alan Jackson or any of that crowd, just Brent and his crew...
and its not like Brent Mason is indisputably one of the best guitarists alive, as in, its not like hes the top studio guitarist around nowadays or anything. and its not like derek trucks got handed the torch by Warren Haynes himself or anything. youre right, YOU know better, because you know how to strum basic chords.

Brent Mason!!! Best guitarist ever!
That twin sounds amazing. I didn't know they came in heads... and what is that other amp he's plugged into?
where can i find the other videos? brent mason is one of the best.
I posted a tab at Countrytabs of the solo you hear at the very end. It's from 'I'm Bringin Home Good News' on his latest cd.
@leonardkunstmann I think it is a Genz Benz... or something like that..!
This a super vid with a super stylist. Brent is the top talent.
If you think he's overrated , then you propably havent heart much of his stuff. This guy is top level.

+playAgainMe I forget which one it was honestly... I recall it sounded alot like an ac30 though. I ended up selling it on ebay for him
Its from an English manufacturer called Cornford - not sure which model.

The first amp he was playing is a Genz Benz Black Pearl.

is that a Peavey Classic 50 head? i had one of those once. had a great tone if you can get somewhere to crank it. the one i had was über loud.
+theguitarczar Yes, it sure is :)
Fender made made a Twin reverb II in the 80's in head version under Paul Rivera when he ran the place
It's actually a quarter note triplet. Three notes for two beats.

There was a time when the the only effect the guitar players in Nashville used between the guitar and the amp was a cord....
@alanQ119 Nope it's mainly a old Boss Ce that blue thing with a low end mod!
is that a holand amp next to him?
That drives me wild that he uses the delay instead of Chorus. I always thought he was using thick chorus on Alan's early stuff.
its not English. amps there are Genz Benz, Matchless, Marshall, and the Fender all head. Then he has a few different speaker cabs.
lets hear your clips.
he's a session guitarist, its his job
2:09 Brent Mason does AC/DC!
think that is a genz benz black pearl 30.

haha Jimi Hendrix and creativity happened.
I've just uploaded a few new songs. I'd be really grateful if you can check them out. Much appreciated, and I've got to say, I love your videos
