Bryan and Peter talk about how global immigration influxes are challenging countries in North America and Europe. Full episode here - • National DISINTEGRATIO...
12:31 he's wrong here. The reason some people from Latin America mark "white" is because many of them literally are. They have light skin and majority European ancestry
The majority of Latin American people that immigrate to the U.S. are usually of the “mestizo” variety. Meaning mixed with native and European ancestry. Those that mark “white” are pretty much trying to erase their “nativeness” because America pressures them to assimilate (whitewashing). However, there are ethnically ‘white’ hispanics but they tend to be from South America due to the German, French, Italian, Spanish, etc, immigration to those areas years ago. There are traces of European ancestry throughout all of Latin America but for the most part you will definitely find them in SOUTH AMERICA. Hispanic/Latino people are not a race. It is a cumulation of different races that’s make them who they are. Just like middle eastern people.
@@Onlylettuce92 Haha, I like how you speak for all people from Latin America and their reasoning for marking the "white" category. All "mestizo" means is mixed. While yes, the majority of Mexicans are mestizo, what you would find based on DNA tests on Mexicans in places such as Nuevo Leon or Jalisco, is that it's typical for them to have majority European ancestry. Typically two thirds to three quarters, with many of them having upwards to 90% European ancestry. 18% of Mexicans in total have blonde hair for Pete's sake. The same goes for people from countries like Argentina, Venezuela, or Cuba. Many have majority European ancestry, as you have mentioned. In America, on average, black people have rougly 75% African ancestry and 25% European ancestry, more or less. By your definition, black Americans would be "pretty much trying to erase their Europeanness" or whatever. In reality, they're just recognizing that their appearance is more reflective of their African ancestry. It's not about America "pressuring them (Latin Americans) to assimilate." It's just them recognizing that the majority of their ancestry is European. Besides, everybody is meant to assimilate. There are Chinese, Indians (Hindu), and Africans, who have assimilated as well, and they never mark the "white" category - because they don't have European ancestry and/or European features.
@@michaelk4740 I wasn’t speaking for all of Latin America, my apologies, I should of stated that but alas I was busy not caring tbh. Let’s be real colorism is a deeply rooted aspect within the Latin American community which plays a part on SOME wanting to make ‘white’. That is a sad reality but it happens. Yes, maybe I was generalizing but it seems like people forget the ugly realities and the shadow aspects on why people do certain things. just trying to bring that side out I suppose.
Facts are tough. If you don't like people who aren't white, but you still want to have anything like a decent economy, then have more white babies. Otherwise, welcome the end of your economic status with good cheer and enjoy.
Well now you know who Peter is, this smarmy know-it-all who believes that the leadership qualities and solid economic principles of Javier M. will have no bearing on his success as a politician 😅😅😅
I wasn’t around when America was great, and it was so shut up democrats. But I miss it. I guess the 70’s , 80’s and 90’s were pretty cool. Was around for those decades.
That was the golden age of globalism. We offshored everything to China and Mexico, which created the American rust-belt. Lots of unemployment, as manufacturing in the US declined. This also aligned with union-busting, of course. If that was a good time for you, then I'd question what you were doing at the time. They sold out, destroying swaths of America in favor of Chinese/Mexican sweatshop labor. Shit quality and complex supply chains were the result, which is why we're in this mess with China now. Mexico has been useful and close, at least.
The 70s and 80s were AWFUL. And the crime rate was extremely high in the 90s, but it was better than the previous decades. Anyway, the US is better now than ever before.
The immigration complaint is not from the “old people”. it’s from the younger, less educated; those competing with new migrants.
Bryan Callen is an ABSOLUTE living legend. Saw him in Indiana a while back & MAN he brought the heat! 💯
You know a comic's career is going great when they're doing culture war zoomcasts.

"Immigration" is a soft and misleading term for the invasion that is upon us, but still love me some BKJ.
