Same! I'm planning on doing a Lost Skate Spots episode on it this summer so if you have any footage you'd like me to add in or know of anyone with any, let me know!
The skateparks in North Dallas like McKinney, Allen and Carpenter park are all great but so far from this side of DFW. This is going to be awesome for everyone in East Dallas!
I passed by to verify cause I'm new around Garland and I can say it is in the works and it looks amazing already. They also have a sign of how it will look
I was born in Garland. We used to skate behind the Kroger on Centerville. I also used to skate and abandoned warehouses near 635 and Northwest highway. I was skating in one when J Coker came in and said he was looking for a place to put Jeff Phillips skatepark. I don't live in Garland but it's good to see that the city has finally committed to making a skatepark for the youth. When I was there last year it was so sad to see the large amount of homeless people including young people who were maybe not homeless but had learned how to make money panhandling. These kids really need something better to do. I asked one of them why he didn't go to work on creating a skatepark in the city of Garland. I didn't know the history of this it's good to see that you followed up and that progress is being made. Hopefully it will be an awesome place and a great skate Park sooner rather than later.
Dude, awesome back story about both Jeff's! They're legends. And yeah, growing up here, it was a bit run down in a lot of parts. Firewheel area got a lot of love but everywhere else kinda fell by the waste side. That's all changed in the last 5 years though. Garland will probably be unrecognizable (in a good way) in 5-10 years once all of these renovations have been done. Thanks so much for watching!
Great video, intune with your city counsels, mad respect to you bro, if you love your town , you should be involved and tell them how you feel respectfully, mad props to you bro 💯🙏
@@SkatingwithAaron they still have some electrical stuff they have to put up I believe. And the actual park is still being redone so according to SPA Skateparks the whole park has to be finished before opening. From the looks of it in person I can say it’ll definitely be open within the next 3 - 6 months. 🤞🏼
Nice work on the video. Glad my hometown is finally getting a nice place to skate. Also, how is this for random.?. I haven't skated seriously in easily, at least 25 years. Had a short resurgence maybe 15 or so years ago, but was fairly short lived. Then this week I : 1 Decided I wanted to start skating again. Probably a mid-life crisis thing but whatever. If it gets me back on a board it's all good. 2.While cleaning out my office, found an old high school newspaper article about me skating. 3. Bought my first board in at least 15 years, probably more. Then today I : 4. Had the only pic taken of me and 2 co-workers skating a parking garage from a year ago pop up on my google home. (More just hanging out and talking than skating) 4. Took my youngest daughter to the little local skate park for the first time.(Never took my oldest.) 5. Had my wife tell me she saw a skate park being built on her way through Garland the other day. Did a search for Garland skate park and found this video. Looked through the comments and found someone mention me from 30+ years ago! Crazy!!!
True dat! Garland’s getting theirs and Rockwall is trying to get one built too. Mesquite and Rowlett needs to complete the chain of cities in that area with parks! Haha
That's awesome! A skatepark for your hometown. I wish other cities would follow suit. If Garland can do it, there are many other places with the resources that can (including my Hometown). Thanks for the vid.
I'm hoping all of the cities in this area continue to produce skateparks too! I think a lot of city councils are finally coming around and realizing it's good for its residents. I hope you get one built in your hometown soon and thanks for watching!!
I was there a couple weeks ago and I experienced the same thing but it wasn’t skaters, it was just randoms. Hopefully they don’t ruin it for the people who actually use this park. 🙏
2022 UPDATE: The Garland Skatepark AKA the Boneyard Skatepark is finally open! See my updated video here: ua-cam.com/video/GLqDDlgxEqI/v-deo.html
I just found out there's going to be a skatepark in Garland. That's awesome. Glad to see this is happening.
Yeah! Long time coming haha. 🤘🤘🤘
Man I miss the fountain in downtown I used skate it everytime they drained it!
Same! I'm planning on doing a Lost Skate Spots episode on it this summer so if you have any footage you'd like me to add in or know of anyone with any, let me know!

Excited to see this park next year hopefully!
Dude same here!! I'll see you out there!!
Do you know the height of the mini? I'm trying to relearn my coping tricks, and by looking, I'd guess 3 1/2 feet. Am I close?
I haven’t actually been to the finished park yet but once it opens I’ll do an episode there and let you know!

It’s all meant to be! That’s insane though haha. Small world. My wife and I just moved back to garland so I’m super excited for it as well!
Bro we need a skatepark in mesquite next!!! Super excited meanwhile for garland the park looks so sick!
True dat! Garland’s getting theirs and Rockwall is trying to get one built too. Mesquite and Rowlett needs to complete the chain of cities in that area with parks! Haha
Yes definitely Mesquite next!
Great info!!!
Thanks, girl!!
Theres not really a good skatepark around me, but once this one is done there will be :)
Yes! I’m in the same boat as you since I’m moving back to garland soon! 🤘

he was a cool dude
The map showing the elevation changes is revealing. This park is gonna kill it. Better get up super early in the morning to skate with some privacy.
Yeah it looks like a amazing! I heard it will be similar to Frisco park but we'll see. Definitely gonna have to wake up early for this one haha
People are abusing the park revving their cars and trucks and disturbing local residence,... at some point you're going to lose the park to bad actors

Something bad
Jk I liked it:)
You son of a…
Oh wait, thanks dude! 🙏😂
