Being a blacksmith and machinist myself, I know how many, many hours of work that probably went into this piece of art. It truly deserves to be called a piece of art cause that is exactly what you've made there. :)
Looks like there is room to drop the seat and have your torso lay across the body work for what might be a nice riding position ? Or at least better than that !
@@stevencochran4284 I would do that too, make it more aerodynamic and put a windscreen at the right angle, in a way it looks like the Sabre jet from the old days. I think he wanted the seating position to be just like a quads. Still, his metal craftmanship is great.
Anybody that spends this amount of time hand forming his dream gets my thumbs up. Nice to see folk getting away from two wheels in the back, as its so unstable in turns vs two wheels up front. I have a hand cycle that has the front drive wheel configuration and have rolled it a few times, while in turns at speed. Not that the single rear drive can't be rolled, as well, it is just far more stable under most conditions. I've got an electric assist version of the single rear drive trike I'm working on. Keep em' spinning.
Well done, good work. Ditch the wire wheels for a modern soft spoke set and ad a big ass gumball in the back and you have something thats retro but of modern day. Agiain very well done! Super impressed with you process of cardboard mock up and then all the hand work in the metal fab. (black wheels with a touch of your paint color for accents)
Nice work. Aluminum is a unique metal to work with. By that I mean it has a learning curve that is an absolutely flustrating pain in the arse. I had to learn to love it. Currently the only machine and welding shop in the area that can turn out proper quality aluminium repairs and custom fabrications. Steel and even to some extent Stainless Steel there's a bit more competition. But branching out into less common alloys has been intresting and "paid the bills" Brilliantly done I'd say ....and all the more impressive from the limitations of a home shop no less !
Beautiful workmanship. I have two 1972 R75/5's, 500 serial numbers apart, one of which is being repainted and the aluminum redone to factory standards. Both have 80 K miles and still run very strong with no problems yet, except for new clutches, tires, batteries, and one starter and have always been my favorites in my stable of vintage bikes. And now, since seeing your build have figuered out what to do with the second bike. My Wife recently bought me a 2016 Harley FRLT three-wheel Motorcycle which I really like and enjoy but was looking into putting a side car on the second Beemer, but after getting the Harley having been working on a few sketches of how to create a BMW trike in the same manner but loved your presentation and am thinking I can incorporate that retro look into my design - Time will tell. In the meantime, Awesome Build. Ride Safe.
What a unique and superb project! Much praise to Tim for having the vision and commitment to bring off this one of a kind vehicle. This machine should go into production as a new class of motorcycle. It rocks!
The one-eyed front end is fantastic. Very nice design work. Love the slant, everything about it. And that little fairing around the top of the shock. Such a wealth of great detail, beautifully executed. Bravo.
Awesome, definitely the best thing to do with a quad. Looks like something BMW would have built themselves in the 50s which I think is the best complement!
Lovely work and a great description of it. It’s a skill in itself talking to a camera and explaining anything, I know my attempts are awful, so hat off on both accounts. Ride carefully and with enjoyment.
Fantastic creation. Love it. Please put a fender over the back wheel. I have seen what a back wheel will do to a person when things go wrong and you land sitting onto a moving back wheel. It will rip your BUTT off and anything else that gets in the way. I know this is your creation - but I can imagine a lovely teardrop aluminum fender adding some finishing flare to your trike with both aluminum and color coordinated paint. TWO thumbs up !
Sick bike. I had a design idea a few years that looks exactly like this but then for children. Hotrod bike mix. But building this is a different level! Aweome.
Outstanding work! Excellent craftsmanship! The riding position is ridiculous but for a show piece that doesn't matter. personally I would drop the seat down and the handlebars swept back not forward... I hope mine doesn't take another 7 years to build/finish lol but it's already been 13. I am still looking for another quad front suspension but all that I have found have brakes that are much too small for safe riding. Mine is based on a Suzuki GS850. I do not have the metal forming skill that this builder does but I'm working around that.
Not only has the bike got a lovely retro and period look you have to be congratulated for the skills you have displayed in metal beating, it's phenomenal. It seems a bit man spirited to find any fault with a thing of such beauty but if you could either lower the seat or raise the bars because you don't look as comfortable as you might like
Nice looking bike, but like many custom bikes looks very uncomfortable to ride. This bike would do very well with a tilting trike front mechanism. But as long as the builder is happy...that's all that counts. I applaud him for the task and learning how to work with aluminum. Thanks for sharing.
Can't say anything but respect. Like the fact that you didn't make it look like a futuristic vehicle. Even though you could. Bodywork is amazing. Imho, only handlebars do not match. Easy upgrade though
Looks fantastic! Great achievement that I admire. Driving position is kinda weird. The trike itself rows in into the "Great Prize O Tripoli" stuff Caracciola and the others drove. By the way, the BMW 507 is the most beautiful BMW car ever and Elvis had one of these. I had the BMW RT 100 and took away the plastic shells to make it look old. Was a very good bike and so relaxing with its "took-took" noise. In Germany they call it "Rubber Cow" for its speciality to lift the back when accelerating. Congratulstions!
You are an absolute artist my friend! Beautiful build! Love that you figured out prototype level metal shaping. Your metal shaping is what makes it so cool. I will say the bike catches my eye differently when there is no rider on it. When you are on it, it looks smaller. Still very cool. Maybe I was seeing something more roadster-esque without rider. I hate to be too critical, because I know what seven years worth of hours means. You deserve way more praise than criticism. Quads typically have a very up-right ride position. I wonder how you could achieve more of a roadster type human body positioning. Will likely require a slightly larger bike overall. Just chatting...
@@dmc2554my grumpy grouch :P do you ever put love into stuff? This was for passion, not performance. Plus he's more likely to be successful making something he loves than making something better than a multi billion pound company like BMW

Front - badass, tail - badass, side line... Not my type, but it's my opinion. Still, good work! You put a lot of work in this project, you have my respect! Take care!
Great look, excellent work, though his position on it looks hard on the back and doesnt seem comfortable, but the trike itself is very impressive and visually stunning.
This is one gorgeous trike. You, my friend, are one master builder with an amazing imagination and great eye for detail. the sheet work came out perfect and the wheels just tie it up to make one of the nicer bikes I've had the privilege of ever seeing. great job friend!
Nice shed work, I love the new tech tools we have access to to build great transport vehicles, They save on fuel and look great compared to a cookie-cutter 30,000 dollar piece of plastic that is all over the streets today called automobiles. after watching you ride this beast I wouldn't suggest for long rides, you might want to put some taller handlebars and wind screen for road trips.
Incredible... imagination concept, works well. Riding position not my cup of tea as l have a bad back and wrists...so would hurt. But l like it... really.. Designed with a modern and yet classic style... However, with tons of detail work on the aluminium. First class... Have fun and enjoy your proud work... I would..
That is one of the coolest looking bikes I have ever seen. Your an artist. I love the bike. Great craftsmanship. Please don’t be offended but I’m going to try and copy it with something similar.
You display your influences for making this style of trike, yet when I first saw its thumbnail it immediately brought to mind Rey's speeder in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Cool ,don,t wanna go out in rain tho with no Rear fender . I THINK a full fender in 2 halfs ,like the old side cars (stieb ) but bolted together so u can access all might look good with the body work

“Hope you like it?” It’s stunning and a great example of someone with great imagination and lashings of skill. Great effort
Authentically retro but somehow has a Star Wars pod racer feel, can't stop gorping, amazing work mate!
Gavin Zissou The main bad guy in the Star Wars pod race had a big pod and he had a similar grill so that’s what is coming up in your mind
Usually not a fan of trikes but love what he did. Very league of extraordinary gentlemen/captain Nemo age vibes.
Couldn't have put it better myself !
Looks like the speeder from the Star Wars movie that the girl rode.
Love the bike, hate the riding position .. great aluminiumwork !
I remember a poster of a turtle humping a foot ball !? Weird visual
I kind of agree. When I finally build my own Imma give myself a more upright position.

Definitely hate the position . Classic upright position with some sweptback bars would have done wonders

"more cooler".................idiot you
Looks super cool...the riding position seems...awkward...maybe.
Still super cool. Love all the hand beaten bodywork
Right, I thought so, too. The pegs could go lower since the bike doesn't lean, then the knees wouldn't be bent that much.
would look a lot better on an old timey oval race track, with a full suite of retro gear.
@@PrimoStracciatella overall the seating should have been lower...better center of gravity.
Joy on three wheels, a thing of beauty. Bravo Tim. BRAVO!

That riding position looks good for about 10 minutes at a time!
Uh, probably more like 2min. everything leans forward unnecessarily far.
