    By far the best neotec GoPro setup video on UA-cam by the way. So many do terrible setups and I just don’t get why they think “oh let me record this even though I clearly have no idea what I’m doing and it looks terrible and you can’t use the helmet functions”

      Cheers👍. Yes, it took me a while to work out how best to set up for vlogging, butI'm fairly happy with the result. I still want to get my audio set-up perfect though. I thought I had it with the Rode Wireless Go2, but it is just too sensitive and clips all the time. I'll get there eventually.

    Just an alternative … moto mounts … a NZ company makes 3d printed chin bracket for the neotech 2 … fits right in the centre and you can still access the vent and flip release. If you use the dji action 3 … all you need for a mic is Samsung phone usb-c earphones … cut of the earphones just leaving the mic. Route the cable under the chin guard … and it works brilliantly :)

    I have met very few people with that same eye condition. I have it as well and I’m 40 in a couple months. I bought the neotec 2 for the same exact reasons. I had a crash in sand last summer and my 400 dollar HJC modular literally exploded. So I went for the best of the best.

      Yes, I have to say when I get a new helmet - this one is about 4 years old now I think, so maybe next year - unless something new and completely amazing comes out then I'll be buying exactly the same again, I love it, like an armchair for your head!🤣. I don't think I've met anybody else with the same eye problem, so we are definitely rare!!! Weird though isn't it? I hope you were okay after your crash and it was only the helmet that exploded and not your head!

    I just purchased my very first modular helmet. The Neotec II didn't fit my head well so another rider suggested I try a Nolan N100-5. I've been an Arai guy most of my life and never considered a Nolan. It fits me just like you describe your Neotec II fits you; like slippers on your head. LOL I too use The Remote with my Hero 8 on my handlebar next to my throttle. I ride a Zero DSR. Thanks much about your mounting and audio set up. I will try what you've done. I like that is offset from the chin vent. Most setups at the least reduce the airflow which here in the bloody hot SE USA is not a favorable result. I am going to try your mount on my Schuberth E1.

    Nice video. I have the same helmet, same bracketry supporting a GP7. I was home yesterday and flipped up the front of the helmet only for the bracket to snap. Been using it happily for 2 years now on my channel no probs, but I think the constant vibration stress of riding weakened it. Thankfully didn't happen on the road so didn't lose the camera. When I rejig it I'll definitely fit a tether though!

      Cheers for watching! I just didn't want a cable wrapping under the helmet, and also the mic cable is quite long so it just seemed neater hiding it all behind the lining of the helmet rather than trying to coil it up behind the chin bar. There might be a better way of setting it up, but this way has certainly worked fine for me so far.

    Just what I want to do, to a $700 Helmet! Sheesh! Also my Review on this helmet. Out of a 10, I'd give it a 6.5! Maybe less, but I'd have to try a few of its competitors. In order to be fair on whether or not I'm being practical. Since it's a modular helmet! Cons-1. It's horrible for Cold/Winter riding. 2. Relates to Num 1 as well, is the amount of wind and air flow. That sneaks through the helmet. Even when it's all closed up! Especially when you turn your head slightly. 3. When you want airflow through the chin vent. And u want to use ur shade lens. The lens in the down position, blocks 90% of the airflow. Coming from the chin vent. 4. Vents have no screens in them, so bugs come in and can either get in ur eyes from the chin vent or go directly to the top of your head and crawl around inside your helmet if they survive the ride in. Or u have dead bugs and guts in ur hair. The openings go straight to ur head and their slots in the padding in the top of the helmet allowing this. 5. Since there's no screens catching the bugs prior to entering the vents. They get stuck on the inside making it virtually impossible to get them out/clean it. At least the ones that don't land on ur head. I'm sure u can see how that'd be nasty over time. 6. Visor removal is an absolute bear, well removal isn't too bad, it's putting it back on that's a pain! 7. Very noisy! I thought being a premium helmet, that it'd make a drastic difference between my LS2 mod helmet vs this Shoei mod helmet. But I didn't notice much difference. 8. It's a fairly large helmet, as far at the outside shell goes. Unless you have a windshield ull notice a significant drag increase, which hurts the neck on long rides. 9. Makes u look goofy because of its size. Lol 10. Sun shades don't drop quite low enough, imo. 11. Integrated com's system is $300! 12. If you twist helmet down while wearing, the snaps can/may come undone. 13. VERY EXPENSIVE/OVERPRICED AND OVERRATED IMO!! Pro's- 1. Very Comfortable 2. Has very good ventilation/airflow (With sun shade up) 3. Made with Quality materials. 4. Pin lock system is absolutely amazing, u can't fog the lens up if u try! Even on cold ass mornings, while sitting at a stop! Very impressive! 5. Visor has lots of positions, that can be used. Even at high speeds without it shutting. Very smooth one hand manipulation, with gloves on.(No locking feature, which I prefer. Since they are hard to actuate with gloves on!)
    So! In conclusion of my review after about 2+months and about 2,000miles of use. I think it's a decent helmet for summer riding. I believe it's extremely overrated and extremely overpriced! I believe it should not be more than a $450-500 helmet at the most! To be fair I'd have to test a few other premium modular helmets on the market to give a more accurate overall rating! However! I've got a bottom of the barrel LS2 Modular helmet. Which is probably around $400-500 cheaper. And that's what I used for a comparison and basing my opinion on. Because if this premium mod helmet. Is not much better than that. Then I'm certain, it's safe to say that the other premium mod helmets that are cheaper are probably better than this helmet for less money. So here's the million dollar question... WOULD I BUY ANOTHER SHOEI MODULAR HELMET? NO!!! Unless, they come out with one that can get rid of a majority of the cons, for the same cost or less. That's the only way! As far as the Shoei Neotec 2 goes... NEVER AGAIN!! I probably should have stuck with my favorite brand HJC. Unfortunately they have the locking visors, which I can't stand. (Sorry for the long ass comment! Lol but I am only trying to be as detailed as possible. So I can possibly help someone out. Who's looking into getting this helmet!)

      Don't agree with any of that. Ride 20000 miles a year in all weather conditions and this helmet is superb in anything from minus 5c or 6c to plus 30c. First helmet I've ever owned where the pinlock actually works. Super comfortable, brilliant sun visor and good airflow and compared to my last helmet Scorpion, exceptionally quiet. Only thing I've had to do was adjust the visor cams after the first wet ride. In 50 years riding undoubtedly the best helmet I've ever owned.

    • @TheBoltHoleBiker
      @TheBoltHoleBiker  3 роки тому

      Cheers for watching, I'm glad you liked the video! I really like the media mod and much prefer it to the mic adaptor option - the shotgun mic on it also gives you much better audio for vlog style recording when off of the helmet, using a selfie stick etc. I'm not sure if it is waterproof in the sense of taking it diving etc., but it certainly waterproof enough to use on a helmet in all weathers. I have used mine in torrential downpours and it has never been affected apart from the inevitable drops on the screen making the video unusable!

    • @TheBoltHoleBiker
      @TheBoltHoleBiker  3 роки тому

      Hi, I feel your pain, getting the audio right is the most difficult part of a motovlogging set up! I'd say you definitely have the right mic, so no worries there, the purple panda is the best that I have used. When I was experimenting with my set up I also tried having the mic poking out from my cheek pad, so basically to the side of my mouth, and it didn't work at all. What I have found is that the best location for the mic is right in front of your mouth, I have mine gaffer taped on to the inside of my chin guard with just the end tip of the mic poking out, with no muffler on it at all believe it or not, not even a foam one, and it seems to work fine. I don't know if this will work for everybody, as the helmet shape/size might make a difference, but it might be worth a try,. Good luck!

      I've used the chest mount and probably will do again in the future, but for vlogging I prefer the camera being mounted to my helmet, as you get the sense of movement when you move your head - a chest mount gives you a very fixed point of view.
