If I may be allowed some leeway, I suggest Cleitir (aka Bernera Bridge) as a potentially favourite minor megalithic monument. Although not universally considered part of the Callanish complex owing to its westerly 5 km location across water from the main body of the Callanish complex, it is none the less listed as Callanish VIII. Callanish VIII is minor, consisting of 3 standing stones, one fallen stone, and a stump against a cliff with a modern bridge across Loch Rog. The tallest stone is a respectable 2,7 metres high.. These standing stones were re=erected in 1985. It is not a circle, but a half circle, with the open side facing Loch Rog. What makes this a potential favourite for me is there is a standing stone on the opposite side of Loch Rog. In historic times it was moved closer to the Loch. There is the possibility that the stone was once part of another half circle forming an entire stone circle with Callanish VIII, straddling Loch Rog. It may have been a unique sight from a boat in ancient times.
@@mgtowcomment1367 My Callanish VIII video is coming soon.... I personally think Callanish VIII or Cleitir, is part of the Callanish complex. I may visit Callanish VIIIa on my next visit, I seen this stone from Cleitir on my last visit. I hope you enjoyed the film and thanks for leaving a comment which helps the channel.
@@BeforeCaledonia Hi Martin, I certainly enjoyed the film. Your series is particularly great as they document these circles as they have deteriorated even from historic times. I look forward to your Callanish VIII video. I hope you include the stone on the opposite side of the Loch.
@@mgtowcomment1367 I am glad you have enjoyed the videos. I didn't visit the stone over the loch, I may visit it on my next trip. I should have a Callanish documentary on the main site out in March.
I am going back up this year for more filming which will be my fourth visit. I watched your Huly Hill video a few days ago, I will give it a share on my socials, Martin.
@@BeforeCaledonia Thank you for the shares. That is really appreciated. Huly Hill is definitely a site that is very much overlooked. I'm glad to hear that you will be getting to revisit Callanish again.
