This really helped me with saving my money for newer lowboots, My ATF lowboots have served me for over 7 years and they're starting to fall apart so i needed a new pair
I have a pair of Nestof made M37 boots and they have fallen apart on me. The upper started pealing away from the sole in the front (I think it was a one-off manufacturing issue) which made the boots unusable. The upper leather is quite thin (1,7 mm) and the sole is not stitched all the way around, only in the front, they also use a fibreboard insole, which is not great but absolutely fine for this price point. I had to take my pair apart, then I replaced the upper with 2,5 mm leather, I tore out the fibreboard and replaced that with leather insole and then put the original outsole back on and secured it with 360 Blake stitch. The hind quarters leather is quite good and thick and the heel cup is also good leather so I kept that in place. Despite this ordeal I wouldn’t consider them bad boots, the quality reflects the price and unless you get a pair with manufacturing issue, they should last you a few good years. They are good for events that are not overly demanding and I’d say they’re great for starters, they’re also quite comfortable and won’t give you a headache after a few hours of wearing, just don’t expect the same level of durability and longevity as with brands like Fredericci.
Good assesment. It's great that you can do all that yourself. I must admit that nestofs are not always that bad. But the risk of getting bad boots exists with them.
I got mine over 2 years ago and they still work and is in good condition. I have used them on hikes and events. You MUST take proper care of them with tons of leathergrease and clean the once they have been wet. It's not that hard, just google how to do proper leather care. Take care of your boots and they will take care of you.
I bought a pair of nestof-made m37 boots also, just two years ago from now, i followed the instructions note from nestof about what we have to do before first wearing the boots, and i bought the correct type of leather grease and all, and took care of them before and after every event/photoshoot. However, i lost nearly all my nails after only 3 1-2 hours photoshoot and 2 real 1-2 days events... if you have good tips for me, about how to re-nail and what i can do to prevent future nail losing?

Eric Grigsby sold the best low boots and jackboots… made in Kentucky, USA. My low boots are still going strong after 20(?) years! SNO SEAL is my favorite leather treatment for boots. The Fredericci boots seem to lose the half sole… and a buddy had a heel fall off his jackboot. *Love the roosters in the background!
My fredericci's seem to go strong despite the abuse I put them through. We'll see how they hold up in the long run. *I hate the roosters in the background.
I bought a pair of Federrici 1910 low boots from Nestof. Quality is ok not my best pair but not the worst. Heel Leather isnt holding up as good as i would like. My friend feels a similar way. The size guide was way off in my experience. The boots I got were a bit too big.
@@ErikGriswald Exactly why the only good option with Fredericci is off the rack with another vendor. After what happened to you I wouldn't dare ordering from him directly 😅
Water can get in when it reaches the lacing. There are some small openings there. Unless you step in deep water you will be fine. When you oil them really good water will not penetrate the leather that fast.
They were quite new. When I did this video they had already soaked up a lot of grease and now they are much, much darker. Leather need time to get greasy and dark off course
@@dergrenadier brush them to open the pores, grease, massage, grease, massage and do that trhough out the day until you grease them for the nigth. Use a good fat and top it of with mink oil. not that hard

Yes that is correct. Hand made boots are often 500 euros or more. Boots are one of the most important parts of an impression and often the most expensive part
The m37’s from Epic are absolutely the same quality I can attest to this having compared to the same boots from Nestof and epic only difference is the price 😬
Could you do a video about Jackboots, I’ve been looking for some and have been thinking about getting Nestof jackboots.
BTW, I have some jackboots from ATF, along with some of their lowboots, which I'm pleased with. I just wish the jackboots were a little taller.

Hey! What cloth laces are you using? I agree leather laces are not as reliable.
Normal HEMA laces. With some use they look quite good.
I'm doing re-enactment from 43 to 45 and I should buy some new shoes, what do you recommend? M39 fredericci boots or m37 fredericci boots
Hello, do you know lederarsenal boots ? If yes, which ones are better in your opinion ? Fredericci or Lederarsenal ones ?
Lederarsenal are better but mote expensive and custom made for you, which takes time. It depends on what you like.
My Fredericci boots took over a year. And with a lot of drama, so better go Berger

I mailed Nestof and asked if this low boot is waterproof, and they said no. Not even with proper care.
Whar are your impression so far?
