Thank you Bishop Baron for your talk on the Holy Spirit. I talk to God, I talk to Jesus and pray to the Holy Spirit, but for the first time in my life I realized just now that God the Holy Spirit was always with me too. I love you. I pray for all our priest and religious.
Wow, Fr Barron is explaining everything I wish Id learnt growing up as a catholic. Coming back to faith after 20 years as an atheist feels like a homecoming. 🏠
@S L yes, now you mention it growing up, the faith was used as a rod of discipline in my home without explanation or emphasis on anything else. My journey was similar to yours (especially related to the mountain of philosophical reading and looking into the eastern traditions), the Catholic Church just seems like home.
I’m 40 years old and I’m having the same intelectual curiosity about the religion I grew up in (Catholic). I’m happy that I have the Holy Spirit guiding me in this path. It’s the best thing that has ever happened to me. I find myself searching every question I’ve ever had and now with the help of the internet, I’m able to find answers. I can say that my faith is greater than ever in my life.
I think I feel the presence of the Holy Spirit most apparent when I get the swell of emotion when I think of Jesus and God when I pray the Rosary. It is most powerful then, because I am actually weeping quite profusely. I've had people ask, what is going on, and I tell them it's quite simply the overwhelming feeling of love. When I pray the Rosary I am usually offering my sorrow to Jesus for all those people that do not believe or are committing horrible crimes against humans. I beg him to forgive them. Other times I may be walking along the streets, enjoying the sunshine and hearing the birds chirping, feeling a cool breeze, and I thank God what he made for my enjyment in that moment. I am grateful I was born a Catholic and my mother teaching me to have an intimate prayer relationship with Jesus, but for as long as I've known, even from childhood, I have always known that the Holy Spirit is always a breath away when I appreciate the nearness of God in his works.
I agree. I have this reaction during Holy Mass, especially during the Consecration. I think of The Last Supper and feel such love and hope for humanity. 😇
The HOLY SPIRIT is not taught correctly by churches which convey a human -wrought made up belief. The HOLY SPIRIT (as taught by actual Jesus) is the conduit or pipe that connects to your soul and delivers sought DIVINE LOVE from your soul parent God into your soul. This Divine Love, the actual divine essence of God will(if sought enuf) will start incrementally transforming your soul to an IMMORTAL DIVINE type with a divine spark and awareness which it did not have originally. This is the actual truth and there are written documents and celestial -guided persons superior to the Bible to prove it. 😇🙏
Mu humble testimony: When I got my Confirmation, I was 24 or 26 ( I can’t remember exactly, sorry). I walked down the aisle fully connected that it would be the highlight of my whole life. And it was! 😍 Those 2 seconds when the bishop made the sign of cross on my forehead, I EXPERIENCED the most intense love and fire ( a fire hard to describe, a fire that didn’t hurt) I have ever had. Praise to God!
I’ve pleaded with the Holy Spirit to keep future generations in my family in the Roman Catholic Faith , not lip service, but strong Faith-Filled practicing Roman Catholics. My Mission. 🙏🏻
I have the icon ( wooden on a stand ) of the “ Holy Trinity” ( given to my family from a Holy Priest ). I love and value this , so meaningful, so deep.
@@michaelanderson4849 you need to take a more patient and humble stand in this life. Look, put it simply, only after you breath you last you will then know who is right and who is wrong about God. The Holy Spirit heals, sanctifies, gives comfort, brings tears of joy, and help us know the depth of the love of the Father, in order to give that love to others. I remember a brilliant local priest at my city, here in the Philippines, explaining that the Trinity is not like pantheism where each god can do what the others can't. The Trinity does not work like that; they are each a complete substance as there is, after all, one God. In Catholic school, I was taught that the Holy Spirit is God operating within us through our conscience and through the gifts that we have received in baptism.
One Eastern Orthodox priest told it very bluntly and simply to me: The Holy Spirit is your life. What he of course meant is that it’s the divine life given to us through Christ, but still. When I read about St. Maximilian Kolbe, I learned that he had prayed and studied many hours during his lifetime, asking to understand the Person of the Holy Spirit, and to understand the Holy Trinity. This lead him to contemplate and pray more deeply about the relationship, and meaning between the Spouse of the Holy Spirit, our Mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God to the Holy Spirit. St. Maximilian asked our Blessed Mother, "Who are you, Mary?" In an Icon of the Holy Family, we see Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Joseph being the Icon of God the Father. In this image of family, we see the Son, the Father, and the Mother between them. We see God the Father, God the Son, and Mary, who is, in essence, the Love between the Father and the Son in flesh and blood. Mary held the newborn Jesus, Son of God in her arms in adoration, looking lovingly down into the face of God her Creator, with Jesus looking up into the beautiful face of Love created between the Father and Son, that is, the "sigh" between them, in persona Mary. I found a book entitled The Paraclete is very informative on the Holy Spirit and gave a copy to my pastor. He permitted me to do a Novena to the Holy Spirit for the past three years. We hope to continue the presentation and remind the parish that Easter Season is not over until Pentecost Sunday. Thank you for the information today on the Holy Spirit. I love the Holy Spirit my comforter and constant companion Blessings Lee
I became Catholic at age 61. Nothing before. Married a cradel Catholic and for 35 years stayed on the sidelines. I signed up for the classes and my Wife sponsored me and attend the classes. What a great experience ! Our priest at the time was awesome as well as the teachers, it truly was a community experience. During this time I was very interested/Fascinated in the Holy Spirit. The morning i was to be confirmed and Baptized I had breakfast and once finished i drove next door to a hardware store. Upon existing my truck and walked to the entrance only a few steps, out of the corner of my eye i noticed a movement and turned towards it and I spotted a Dove landing on the right corner of my tailgate. I wailked back to my truck rested my elbow on the left corner of the tailgate and the Dove and I looked each other in the eye for a couple seconds, i then said " Ok , i got the message" and the Dove/Holy Spirt Flew off. I thought BAMM, im part of the team. 😇
It has been great pleasure watching the subscription to Bishop Robert Barron Channel grow. *229K at Christmas 2019 and 303 today (5th May 2020) indeed is an achievement, thanks of course to all the new subscribers.* May Jesus bless the entire subscribers to the Channel with all grace and growth in the Holy Spirit.
Thank you Bishop Barron for explaining to me the differences of the three Persons and the One only God. It's very beautiful. I can feel every one of them. Again thank you very much for all the beautiful and blessing teachings.
The Holy Spirit is God's presence in my life. The Knowing, the feeling that God is present in my life --- He is the tether - the fiery link who connects me to Jesus and to God the Father. The Holy Spirit is God's DESIRE for me to have a loving relationship with Him.
I've always thought about the Holy Spirit as the Person who's the dynamics of God calling himself within us. His own essence actively interacting inside of us, constructing us, guiding us, sharing himself on us, making us know of his presence. When I was a child I had an easy tendency to have a relationship with God, or at least being conscious of his presence, however when I grew up and went to college, obviously I started doubting the Church and just got away. But when I missed God and started feeling a void inside of me I returned to the Church and instinctively I somehow knew that I needed to call the Holy Spirit to reach Jesus and reach Jesus to return to the Father.
The depth of pure theology is amazing and Bishop Barron is so clear in his explanations. I fail so often to understand it right. We always seem to rank these "persons"..as first second and third...as though that's an order of importance or power.. We seem to lose the first part of the statement as "God in three persons". Maybe the order only comes because this is the order that they have come to us? I firstly see Jesus as "God with us"....the carnal presence on earth who came to speak to us directly in human form. I see the Spirit as the presence of God within us....who was introduced to us by Jesus the Christ to help us remain in unity with each other and with God in the same way he had on earth. All represent God reaching out to us to bring us in unity to him and with each other. The theology of this in a form that's without fault escapes me.
Re: Devotional area. I have a friend who I share much of my spiritual activities, mostly by phone, because I think of her as a person of deep faith. One day, I went to her house for my first visit. she invited me to her room and there she opened her closet, which to my expectation is where clothes are kept. But to my surprise, the closet did not have hanging clothes nor folded ones. instead I saw an altar, a chair facing the altar and some icons and a crucifix. There are candles but not the real ones. She said that is where she commune with God everyday, and that includes her husband as well. What a private place it is.
You cannot make do without the Holy Spirit. If we are made in God’s image, then we love God by loving our neighbour, and we must also, like God, be the lover, the beloved, as well as the love and loving that connects one to the other. And God is no more split into three separate parts than a person is when being the lover, the beloved, and being loving. It is merely love experienced as I, You, and We.
I have been used by God to pray for a friend who was subsequently healed. Last week i was really realky poorly from covid and was prayed form. Woke up totalky well next morning!.
Good talk... "The Divine Reality may be likened to the sun and the Holy Spirit to the rays of the sun. As the rays of the sun bring the light and warmth of the sun to the earth, giving life to all created beings, so do the “Manifestations” (Messengers) bring the power of the Holy Spirit from the Divine Sun of Reality to give light and life to the souls of men." ~ 'Abdu'l-Bahá, Bahai Faith
The Holy Spirit is shared with others in communion when we open our hearts in connecting with God thru the Spirit of Christ in all of us while remembering Jesus in his presence on Holy Ground.
This Word on Fire interview is EXCELLENT, imho...Although it was done 4 yrs ago, I haven't seen it before. What a find! Thank you both, Mr. Brandon & Bishop Barron. With your mentioning WonF new releases of books, I would like to mention one from your organization that means SO much to me: The HOLY HOUR: Meditations for Eucharistic Adoration, edited by Matthew Becklo, c 2022. It is this one that I would like to buy additional copies for gifts. This book includes Scripture, reflections by Bishop Barron & notable others, prayers & poetry by saints including St. Catherine of Siena + several of my favorites: Edith Stein, St. John Henry Newman, Bishop Fulton J. Sheen, & more, as well as recent Popes, & the Catechism. As if that were not enough, it is a soft leather like material w/BEAUTIFUL photography & graphics pages throughtout the book. If there were a place, I'd offer this as a book review...maybe Amazon! THANK YOU for this JEWEL of a publication! 🤗
that is beautiful about the Spirit facilitating a conversation between the Father and the Son about you. It relates my feelings of when people are talking about God like He isn't Present as silimar to gossiping about somebody thats in the same room.
Fr. Henri Nouwen in his book Clowning In Rome, gave the etymology of the word person. Personare from the Latin - To sound through. When I learned this it changed my perception of how I act or interact with others. As you are discussing the person of the Holy Spirit, it helps me to think of the Triune God as a sounding through of one to the other. For me it gives a more intimate understanding of the Godhead.
So what I gather from this discussion is that God is the eternal embodiment of all perfect creation in the universe. Then, God sent his love for us through the Holy Spirit so Mary could give birth to His incarnate self. God's incarnate self, His son Jesus Christ, was the mortal connection through which His love for us could be shown in our plain of existence through His teachings and ultimate sacrifice via crucifixion. This in turn saved our mortal souls and provided an eternal connection to Him via the Holy Spirit directly. So the Holy Spirit is that divine love that eternally connects us to God, and therefore connects and binds the Holy Trinity. Am I getting that right?
The Holy Spirit is not just a person but also a divine because God is there even though God is the Father, and He is the Son and He is the Holy Spirit. Like in The Gospel we are told that God's son(Jesus Christ) Promised the Disciples that the Holy Spirit will come to them The Divine person who we are told about is (God), May God Bless you Bishop Robert Barron🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤✝✝✝👍👍👍
I have a Little Alter in my Living Room with Holy Bible, a picture frame of Sacred Heart of Jesus, Blessed Mother, St. Joseph and St. Theresa. With Candles in the front. When we say our daily Nigh Pray we light the candles 🕯
It is my prayer that the Holy Spirit will inhabit this work so as to bring edification and inspiration to God’s people. May God bless all of the inspired people of the Word on Fire ministry.
The Holy Spirit anointed The Apostles with Fire to announce The Resurrection Of Jesus. Imagine Him As Sunlight. Personal warmth for all the Faithful Yet also objectively separate.
We will never be able to describe God in His fullness, such as His Holy Trinity, with our human mind and language; it will be like trying to make a horse understand how grasses grow or something. However, we do know the Son of God, Jesus Christ, and because Jesus is fully God and fully Man, we are able to understand to a certain extent, how much God loves us and how God sees us; and so we can have a complete faith in God even though we cannot understand Him fully.
The Trinity is like the life of a child who has grown up with loving parents. For all her early years she has made her home with Mom, Dad, and siblings, she has a place to sleep and eat, a place of shelter. She is always welcome home because it is her home. This is like the first person of the Trinity. As the child matures she is faced with choices, challenges, errors. She invokes the wisdom and guidance obtained from her parents to pass through trials and tribulations, and to make a place of her own in the world. This is like the second person of the Trinity. As she becomes independent and forges a life with others and becomes a force for good she is a light and guide to others. This is a mutual light that shines within herself, her family, her friends, and with strangers she meets. This is like the third person of the Trinity. This is similar to a heroes journey for the everyman.
I pray to The Holy Spirit to understand the things that I don’t understand, good decisions in life that I will not be living in sins, but most of all my love for my neighbours .
He is our Comforter who prays for us when we are not able Think if you love Our Lord God and you are sick Our Holy Spirit Prays for us If you are Well He is The Paraclete Prays and Loves us 3 Persons in one God
I understand why the Bishop speaks of the Holy Spirit in general terms. 2009, Holy Spirit strangeness: at one church confession the priest speaks in mocking & unserious terms. Weeks later on a long line to a different priest that priest is relieved by the one I was avoiding. No problem. Maybe the last time was an anomaly. I mention a Catholic fraternity I had joined years earlier. In a loud voice so every1 outside the confessional could hear he says he had “no use” for said fraternity. The 3rd confession? Exactly opposite again, a normal confession. How possible? Not imaginary, no drugs or alcohol. I mentioned the fraternity to a different priest in a nearby church. His response? “They have their own agenda that has nothing to do with religion.” Very true. That priest’s Sunday sermon said “watch out for those who value piety over people.” Direct and to the point.
Thank you Bishop for the Beautiful explanation of God the Holy Spirit and what does it mean when you do this Sign of the Cross. I always learn something new, whenever I listen to this Video!! I really appreciate 🙏 thank you very much for bringing us closer to God!!
In summary: God says, "I am that I am". So god has the prerogative to appear on earth in however he sees fit; as a glorified person, as a humble loving person on earth who is a channel of healing or whenever he feels like it instead as he sees fit -- He can appear as a burning bush.
Bishop Barron, Thank you very much for all the Spirit-filled teachings you do. I have a question. We say, we are the temple of the Holy Spirit. If so, why do we pray, :Come Holy Spirit, when He is already dwelling in us. Is it because, human as we are, we are still sinners and are not consciously aware and recognize His Presence in us? And when we mindfully recognize that God is dwelling in us, His grace flows freely in us. Whatever angst, conflict, frustration, illness, problem, issues and concerns, both personal or otherwise we are facing now is GOD'S permissive will to WATER and PRUNE our TREE of LIFE that we may bear the FRUITS of the HOLY SPIRIT. As you said, do we become more loving, more joyful, more peaceful, gentle, kind, faithful, generous, self-controlled, patient when we are test by trials and tribulations of life? Susan Vidal, Philippines. - Author, The Gospel According to my Kitchen Sink
I modestly believe that the Holy Sipirit is the Quality / Form of God to be present and manifested in all the hearts and minds of human beings who sincerely open themselves to His Will and Perspective. i.e. The Holy Spirit is the manifestation of the God’s omnipresence. This presence can be mamisfested in different degress of intensity, depending of number of factors.
Bishop Barron, I am so grateful for your videos. You explain our truths so beautifully and guide your flock into the deep understanding of who we are and what we believe in. I read some of the comments left on your videos and I am dismayed for what appears to be a challenge to show who “knows” better. I am sure you welcome intelligent discourse but I cannot understand the angry and confrontational tone of some. Still, yes I think, yes I discern, yes I study and I pray, but I need to have the humility to learn from someone who is comes in direct line of the original disciples. Thank you.
Its difficult to apply our physical analogy and understand to such matters of the spirit. Thank you for this although I'll have to watch this multiple times to grasp most of it.

Hey Bishop Robert. I just wanted to say that you’ve been instrumental in the deconstructing of my faith, without losing it. Thanks brother.
God is so wonderful even the great Bishop stumbles when trying to explain Him!
Being comicated doesn't make something great
I found a book entitled The Paraclete is very informative on the Holy Spirit and gave a copy to my pastor. He permitted me to do a Novena to the Holy Spirit for the past three years. We hope to continue the presentation and remind the parish that Easter Season is not over until Pentecost Sunday. Thank you for the information today on the Holy Spirit. I love the Holy Spirit my comforter and constant companion
Blessings
Lee
Thank you. Alleluia!
I wailked back to my truck rested my elbow on the left corner of the tailgate and the Dove and I looked each other in the eye for a couple seconds, i then said " Ok , i got the message" and the Dove/Holy Spirt
Flew off. I thought BAMM, im part of the team. 😇
wow!
It has been great pleasure watching the subscription to Bishop Robert Barron Channel grow. *229K at Christmas 2019 and 303 today (5th May 2020) indeed is an achievement, thanks of course to all the new subscribers.*
May Jesus bless the entire subscribers to the Channel with all grace and growth in the Holy Spirit.
Bishop's words are a beautiful exposition of the Comforter, and God bless Him. Dr. Barnabas Mathew, Kerala. India
Amazingly bright guy. I'm grateful for the depth of his understanding and for his sharing.
Beautifully articulated Bp. Barron!
Thank you so much Bishop Barron
Beautiful graphics! 😇😇😇 Thank You to God! Thank You Mommy Mary!
So beautifully expressed, May my soul magnify the Lord. Amen
God bless B Barron
Thank you Bishop Barron. Wonderful ! May God bless you always 💖
I'm not a theologian but this sounds correct!!!
Thank God I am not alone God is my saviour and best friend Amen
Great podcast on an important and challenging topic- thank you, Bishop Barron and Word on Fire! Happy Easter!
And Happy Pentecost 2021!
Wow! I listened to this twice!!! So profound!! And inspiring!!!
Thank you Brandon for asking the same questions that I wanted to ask/clarify with Bishop Barron.

I cannot wait for this video. Should be very informative and exciting.
The Holy Spirit anointed The Apostles with Fire to announce The Resurrection
Of Jesus.
Imagine Him As Sunlight.
Personal warmth for all the Faithful
Yet also objectively separate.
Better words have never been spoken ❤

That priest’s Sunday sermon said “watch out for those who value piety over people.” Direct and to the point.
thank you dear bishop Barron ❤️
Really helpful videos for my religion class, and very interesting information. Thank you!
God bless you Bishop...
Thank you Bishop for the Beautiful explanation of God the Holy Spirit and what does it mean when you do this Sign of the Cross. I always learn something new, whenever I listen to this Video!! I really appreciate 🙏 thank you very much for bringing us closer to God!!
James 2:26
For just as a body without a spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead
In summary: God says, "I am that I am". So god has the prerogative to appear on earth in however he sees fit; as a glorified person, as a humble loving person on earth who is a channel of healing or whenever he feels like it instead as he sees fit -- He can appear as a burning bush.
Wonderful discussion about the Holy Spirit. Thank the questioner and you both regarding devotional space. Very helpful.
Thanks very much, so inspiring!!!. God bless!!!.
Come Holy Spirit I need Thee, come sweet Spirit I pray; come with Thy strength and Thy power, come in Thine own gentle way.
Thanks much for this video.
From the Philippines where’s a devotion to the Holy Spirit
Thanks for the idea of subsistent relationships of the 3 persons
Who can fathom the ways of god
They are past finding out
