    So relaxed with you! That looked like sleep behavior (they switch off half their brain and swim slowly together near the surface, with probably one of them on guard duty).

      Bent fins don’t mean an unhealthy whale or because they’re depressed or sick. Just to educate you.

    • @ianmcdonald9885
      @ianmcdonald9885 3 роки тому +1

      @@whalphinluvx that maybe so but it’s more common in orcas kept in captivity, and there’s many schools of thought on why the dorsal fin may collapse. One is that it’s to do with hotter temperatures breaking down the collagen and seeing as captive whales breach the water surface more often than their free cousins they’re more exposed to heat. Another theory is that wild/free orcas are able to swim on average a lot faster than those kept in small pools. The force of the water, some experts believe, help to keep the fin strong!! So there’s some schooling for you!!! I was making a point that these animals should be free and not there for our gratification

    • @whalphinluvx
      @whalphinluvx 3 роки тому

      @@ianmcdonald9885 While I agree that both of these theories are possible and are probably the most likely to be the case, the orcas can’t be released anyway. Especially captive born. But the trainers there care for these orcas like family. They do their best to give them the best care possible, such as making sure they’re healthy and well-fed and get the right amount of stimulation, thus the shows and training sessions to keep them in shape. You can find videos on UA-cam on them pausing or stopping shows because the orcas want to do something else. They don’t make them do things, which is what I find very relieving about these parks. Wild orcas mainly only swim because they need to find food, where orcas held under human care already have food given to them, which means they don’t need to swim far anyway.

    • @NotLadyAnderson
      @NotLadyAnderson 3 роки тому +1

      @@whalphinluvx are you are saying orcas are happy in captivity because they dont have to swim to find food which you said is "mainly the only reason they swim"? Also are you stating that Orcas in captivity get the right amount of stimulation via their trainers?

    In Washington state there are laws against getting closer than 200 yards of Orcas. Please check the laws in Alaska. These majestic creatures deserve safe peaceful homes. Sometimes you don’t get closer, but they do. That’s ok, but I just thought I’d let you know. Thanks for sharing!! I love orca!

    They really dont sleep for more than a few minutes anyway this guy had a pretty good distance, turned his engines off. That was good! Whats with all the nasty tones from people, this guy didnt intrude! Maybe keeping very low voices wouldve been better because their hearing is so keen but jesus people calm down. We all are on the same team -- anti captivity & F$CK Seaworld!!!
    I love those nice straight dorsals, you can always tell who the boys are. With mom 4 life!
