I absolutely love the two pivotal flashbacks, "Turn back the pendulum" and "Everything but the rain", but my favorite single moment is probably the death of Ulquiorra. It's so well done & in my opinion the perfect ending for one of the best villains of Bleach
To me it was this episode and Everything but the Rain arc. It feels so personal and touching in a way barely any other shonen/action manga has made me feel before. And it is such a drastic change from the battle focused parts of the story that i think it works even more, because it isn’t just the sad flashback/backstory anime trope, it’s a very thoughtful character study that makes you feel incredibly close to the main character at the end of it.
People love to give bleach and specifically Ichigo shit for, like you said, not having a goal but I think Ichigo is by far the most relatable (and human) MC out of the big three. Especially after the fullbring arc, which in and of itself gets a lot of undeserved flack, imo Good luck on 5k, you deserve it brother!
I literally just read this volume too. This was the first time in the series that I didn't feel like I was reading. I just flew past the chapters it was that good lol
I've been hearing a lot of comparisons between Ichigo & Spidey recently they both stick up for the little guys, they both protectors, if you need help they will help you. Yeah, they'll set up if it's world ending events but they both that friendly neighbourhood hero. Ironically my least favourite live action spider-man has one of my favourite scenes in any spiderman movie and its in TASM2 where that kid got his project broken by bullies and Peter came down and fixed the project and was just talking with the kid and walking home with him, I could honestly see Ichigo doing something like this with the spirits in Karkura Town

I originally thought it was just grief and being trauma-attached to the area, but no he was waiting for his mother's soul, and why not, hes always seen the recently departed. However, she was never going to come because her soul was DEVOURED by Grand Fisher. .....just 💔.
