Genders aside. This story screams SOULMATES AND TRUE LOVE. Wish all love could be this true.
And in many respects that's why this movie is so important. It's a note perfect rom-com: the gender of the protagonists is immaterial to telling a soul-mates love story. That this love story allows two men to discover, and, to be in, love, is just wonderful. Love should rule.
This movie is wonderful !!! From August 11 I watch it once a day and I will continue for another 100,1000 times. The alchemy between these two splendid boys Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhr Perez is intriguing, incredible, exciting, engaging, impossible not to fall in love with them and share from giggle on the cake that covers them and a continuous increase of feelings to emotion, from affection, to understanding of unknown things (in my case (I'm 65 years old, heterosexual woman, mother and grandmother); now I'm learning), the joy for them when for the first time they make love (even without Lana Del Rey in the background it was creepy) from a heart full of sadness when Henry leaves Texas in silence, to emotion when Alex tries to go and get him back in Kenghinston, the emotion is strong again when Henry gives Alex his ring and Alex the key to the house in Austina (it was like they were exchanging wedding vows) as heartbroken as (Miguel dishonestly and jealously unworthily publishes their emails) and Henry is desperate that he can't communicating with Alex, the pride of Alex's speech in which he defends their right to self-determination and his true deep love for Henry until finally they can step out onto the balcony because the "British" have understood that "their" prince has RIGHT to be who he is and not what the monarchy imposes !!! I don't know if they will make a sequel I would very much like it, these guys were fantastic and I WOULD LIKE them to win the OSCAR and all the possible prizes in the world. And I ask you please homophobics to refrain from comments. I've read horrible ones. This is more a true, deep love story and it DOESN'T matter if the other has the same sex. Thanks to Nicholas, Taylor, all the actors, the director , to the writer of the book from which it is taken, to everyone and to Amazon Prime for making us produce and show us this wonder !!!

I am reading the book right now. It is different than the movie in several ways. There are a lot more characters in the book who are not in the movie, so that makes the story a bit more complicated. Such as: in the book, Alex's parents are divorced and his mother (the president) is married to a second husband. Plus Alex has an older sister.
So far, I like the movie better, but I have read only 25% of the book so far.

I love this movie not only their actor chemistry is so good, and it's a romcom movie I need right now for all queer movie out here, I just sick of some queer movies that make 2 men (one of them is straight men) so easy to make love and attracting each other because of sex, it's make me so mad, same gender love not only for sex but now they make some movie just add a lot of hot/sex scence to bait fan, actually I hate this, and this why I love this movie so much, Alex and Henry know each other a long time, not said Henry already crush Alex before, he just act he hate A because of thinking A hate him, and when they become friend, they had a long time texting/flirt to each other, almost several month I think, then have their first call, it's just make sense, their relationship is built up, they understand each other, can talk whatever they want, it make me so into this movie.

We need more positive LGBTQ movies like this one. No real tragedies. Just a perfect, light hearted love story between two men…and with a happy ending to boot. 👍🏼👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼. I’ve loved other LGBTQ movies like Brokeback Mountain and Call Me By My Name, but both of those ended either tragically or at least, sadly.. The only other positive Gay male love story I recall watching a couple of times was God’s Own Country (starring the wonderful Josh O’Connor). Not as light or frothy as RWRB but a wonderful movie nonetheless. I heartily recommend it to those who like a good LGBTQ love story.
I agree, there are almost no happy LGBTQ movies out there, which breaks my heart! Thankfully, there seems to be a new trend with Heartstopper and RWRB! Hopefully the powers that be will take note! Loved Gods Own Country too. Also really loved the Skam series!
