Wow, these are perfect. Just setting up automation and this will let me detect presence reliably at a price where I can have it in every room without worries. And no batteries, wiring power is a pain but at least you can just set them up and forget them and not run around changing batteries all the time.
These sensors operate at 5.8 GHz. I have played with some similar sensors that operate at 3.2 GHz. They would detect through walls and to the rear. I couldn't use them because of the ceiling fans in my house setting them off. Does this sensor also detect through a wall?
A lot of mm wave sensors are a long way above 5.8GHz. Most of them are 25GHz and above, some even in the 60GHz range Aqara use a 60GHz sensor in the FP1, it is a XENSIV™ BGT60TR13C. I believe a similar sensor is in the FP2, but I haven't confirmed what it is. I don't know what Sonoff use, but I very much doubt it is 5.8GHz as this would be a more expensive sensor as they are not readily used in mm wave sensors.
Please, how much of an area can it cover? square metres please, and lets assume it is ceiling mounted in the centre of a room. I want to know if this will work in an open plan condo. would an 18x9m2 room require 2 of these? Also not sure of beam angle. If is it about 120 degrees that should be fine. But how accurate is it in your findings? Thank you and any feedback on this would be super appreciated.😀
I don't think this is the case. Guys are making ecosystems that support hotels and businesses. A simple home use of 2-3 of these isnt going to cause problems even if they sell loads.
I do think it may not be problematic. But Shelly gives only last 5 logs with their free app and 100 logs even with paid version. One of the reason for me to be with Sonoff is unlimited logs even with free version of app.
What about walls, fridge, doors? I mean my current 5Ghz sensors can detect fridge opening through brick walls, other problem is that all of them are radial - it is crazy to set it up for long rectangle corridor.
I've got a couple on order 100% *because* they work as simple detectors, pir as you say can be a little hit and miss and I've been having good luck with ls2410 based prototypes for the livingroom (though now esphome can use multiple sensors there's another prototype to try :D) so it may fit the bill for me, as you say who actually turns on different lights based on who's in the room ? :D
Will Sonoff release any device to detect the rain? To start with, just a digital detection (yes/No) is fine. Options for that device in app must be able to over ride output of a smart rekay. So Automatic drip irigation valve switch-on will be skipped. Any idea when weather based scenes be implemented? Paid version of Shelly has. I'm the VIP user of ewelink. But ewelink does not yet have this option.
I have one of these but tge software does not have the options you show for presence, no presnece or any light levels. It just shows motion or no motion. What version of software did you use?
Home Assistant definitely shows presence and motion with these. I set one up a couple of days ago and it worked straight away with HA with a Sonoff Zigbee USB dongle.
Hello. What are your opinions when using the SNZB-06P presence sensor? I have a sensor (software v1.0.5) connected to nspanel pro (v2. 2.0). I noticed two problems. The sensor reports movement on the panel only after approximately 3 seconds. The sensor turns on the light even on a cloudy day. At a light intensity of approximately 50 lux, the sensor detects darkness. I changed the sensitivity value, but the problem still persists.
Great review and nice it is zigbee. You are really correct about the Aqara fp2 - after initial excitement I found I had no use case for room positioning, and would much rather it hadn't used wifi. I thought I might start using Home Assistant for its new voice stuff (I much prefer working in Node-Red). Do you actually use HA at all?
@@notenoughtechwhat do you mean the hard way? I thought most ppl still found home assistant to be too technical to be able to use ... You just use all the native /proprietary software?

they updated the firmware and now you can set up the timeout time a lot lower than bedfore. :D
That's awesome. I'll check this and make corrections to article and video
What is the new time? Any experience with how well it does at this lower time?
Thank for the video - nice work - saves me so much time seeing your work -

does it work throgh a window? if i have it inside pointing out?
Still in that silly cross road between Matter vs ZigBee. Wonder why no Matter support???
I'm yet to talk about matter. I have a script about why matter isn't that exciting I'll post it at some point
Stick with zigbee! They keep on changing so we keep on wasting money too LOL

If I remember correctly its close to 180 degrees

When using it with Alexa, does it also provide a trigger when you leave the room?
Yes you can set how long absence was for too

Any solution with battery? I want one to trigger lights or a dehumidifier on my bathroom
Mm-wave sensors are power hungry. They would last days at best on a battery
Have you tried the EWelink ZigBee 5.8G Smart human presence detector yet?
no, I don't have that one yet, sorry
@6:00 Son-off may dont want to crowd their servers by triggers. Or battery saving for future devices with Battery?

This is what I made notenoughtech.com/home-automation/why-nodered-server/
Dpes the sensor detect through a wall into another room or hallway?
Unlikely.
Hello, do you know if it can be paired with ikea dirigera and exposed to homekit?
I wouldn't bet my money on it. I'd go with a custom coordinator instead
Good morning. I couldn't find link to the example regarding red node in the description. Did I miss something?

Yes but you need to install the driver first. There is a UA-cam video. Only offers motion detected with no other settings.
