8th Gen Civic Si Has Major Suspension Issues... (HUGE IMPROVMENT)

- The 2008 Honda Civic Si is a car that can feel like a beast on the road. Mine does not. This 8th gen Civic Si that I bought last month is LOOSE. The problem is the old struts, blown lower control arm bushings, and all four sway bar end links are shot. The suspension feels out of control. The car wanders, pulls and does all the wrong things. Today I am going to fix it with a few upgrades. PIC Coilovers, Energy poly bushings, and brand new OEM sway bar end links. Lets see how big of and upgrade this is.

For your steering wheel noise try this: Crack loose each bolt (don't remove) for your steering rack. Then re-torque them. Fixed the creaking sound on my fg2.
Man, I'm loving this series because everything you are doing i have to do to my 8th gen si.
keep the 8th gen content coming! i also have a black fg2! if you want a relatively cheap brake upgrade, buy 04-08 acura tsx front caliper, rotor and pads. still a single piston but the piston/caliper is much larger, rotor is the same diameter but 3mm thicker (more heat capacity), pad is much bigger than the stock si pad
I've done a full polly kit on a older civic and it made a huge improvement. It's definitely worth the hassle.
Does it makes the ride harsher?
It's so nice to have air tools. Makes things easier. The si looks so sick.

As far as the exterior trim.. replace the belt moldings because the rubber is beat. But the roof and windshield trim.. even the upper door frame moldings can be restored.. GooGone for adhesive, and SEM makes a really great black trim paint, just use Adhesion promoter. And the front cowl.. if it’s not cracked, I would just respray it

Hey John, if you end up repainting the cowling you should look into SEM 39143. It matches OEM trim black color, I've had good success with it

when my s2000 had grippier and wider tires the steering rack bushings gave out and my sterring cluncked when turning lock to lock. had to go with solid steering mounts and man a big difference plus steering was well improved... i ended up doing inner and outer rods first and it was those damn bushings lol.. anyway stay blessed man, keep grinding

I have the same car and I don't know how to do jack to it. It deserves so much better! I'm just here to find out where the suspension bushings are because they are all squeaking and driving me insane!

I think that noise while moving the steering wheel is the rack n pinion. I have the same noise. The rack gets internal wear in the right side.
Subframe Collars might also help with the overall feel :)

@@boosted_john they are about a 30$ set of bushings on k series parts. Kinda of a pain since subframe has to be dropped but should help the sound its making.

I used a metal grinder and cut my sway bar links off they kept spinning even when I used vice grips haha
were you able o find the window seal? i couldnt find it anywhere. its easily available on sedans, not so muc on coups.

You should look into replacing your VTC actuator, it sounds like it went bad
How can you tell?
@@boosted_john Whenever you start the car when it's cold you probably hear a rattle, like at 8:13. That's your vtc actuator
causing engine knock. It stops once there's enough oil flowing through the solenoid. I had the exact same problem on my fg2 and when I replaced my vtc actuator the knocking after startup stopped

I think I have the last set of pic coilovers for 8th gen in existence
I have a question I have a 8th gen I want it to be static I changed wheel bearings everything on front end it drives great rides smooth but I want the front lower so I let it down a little more and then the tires are rubbing the spring in the strut in the front
With that said there 17s inch Acura TL wheels tho but what can I do get smaller tires or wheels is that all

No. You have to find ones specific for your car.
