The feeling of nostalgia is too much. South African music took over Uganda 🇺🇬 in the mid 1980s to late 1990s. We used to escape from school to go to video shows & this song plus other SA hits were played alot!
Uyayizw i base line.?,Iya jumper!,When we were growing up this music was on the radio!,Would like to see Sis' Rebecca perform some of these songs live on stage,That can't be wrong man!,I don't see how it'd hurt the gospel industry,Just for old time's sake. "Mina ngzobathola bangenz ibhari!🎶"
@@thabogmojahi4704 Please allow me to make you see things from a different perspective, most of us growing up at the time were not shebeen goers,we were young and staying at home and enjoying this music, shebeens were playing what was popular out there at the time but that doesn't necessarily make it shebeen muisc, rather it was music about life and love in general, and who gave us life? God! And who gave us love and created a relationship between a man and a woman? God! and this is what Sis Rebecca was singing about...it had nothing to do with shebeens.
We listened and danced to songs like this in real time. Its summer night, cool air is flowing from east to west, the moon is full and there isn't even a single cloud, donkey bells sounding from the fields. Local team returning from tournament with a tractor. Thinking about your potential girlfriend whom you just wrote a letter to. A nearby shebeen plays this song on full blast. Your uncle is back from Gauteng and he's smoking Lexington. No crime. I can go on and on. That's the 80s in my village. The good old days are gone forever😢!!
@@zankanotachi5894 The were no hijackings, no cash in transit heist, no illegal foreigners etc. Yes politically the country wasn't safe. But you could walk in the townships during the night without being mugged, robbed or hijacked. The only thing we feared during the night in the 80s was a ghost.
Sadly many people this song reminds me of died long back. I would get sent to a shebeen to buy adults very cold beers back then. What an era it was. If only that shuramatongo had sparred our relatives.
I have been looking for this song since i remembwr staying with sis Ribs @Eastgate flats @Joubert park in joburg yoo gone a those days nabo mercy no MaBree
I love this tune. I remember dancing to this when Rebecca performed this live at the FNB stadium early nineties to welcome the exiles. That was between 1990 - 1992. Yes, that was me growing up. Ma G man is another great track by Reebs n Reebs that I love.
The legend,Queen of Pop, Queen of Gospel and Doctor Rebecca Malope. That's the way I can honour you Mom Rebecca Malope.Your music rocks especially those oldest songs. Most of the youth guys they don't know that you were singing (Pop music). Before you going to Gospel Music. Thanks again to Shell Road to Fame to give you a platform to introduce yourself to the Mzanzi People. We love you Mom Rebecca Malope. God bless you 👏👌👍🤲
In 1987 my parents bought me iPhone 6 but I refused to use it because I was enjoying this music. In the early 90s my friends tried their hands on social media but it never took off because music was great back then.
I used to listen to it a lot but didnt understand the language as a Shona, only today when played at Radio 2000 knew its Rebecca. What a masterpiece, gone are the days.

You can say that again!. What a memory lane of my childhood......and this song brings back all memories i had with my mom in the mid 80's. Who remembers Diarora TV3 ? Most of these songs were introduced on TV and this is the time where I wish I could go back into time.
This came out in the late 1980s and in 1990s she teamed up with the late Vuyo Mokoena to form Pure Magic. She needs no introduction in the Gospel arena. Before her most Gospel was most dominated by Durban based groups. She also came from the Mpumalanga area. However at that time Transvaal and Natal encompassed some of that area.
