    FYI: Mariposa is the signature model of Omar Rodriguez-Lopez. The body shape was inspired by Albert Lee's guitar.

    I've got one of those Mariposa's, good guitar for the money. The controls are separate volumes for each pickup

    When you first started those dark chords on that delay pedal, I was hearing New Order's "Ceremony" with all that echo.

    This or St Vincent or Epiphone SG or Sterling CT50 for best value?

    $600. I really want to try out a Sterling. I have seen nothing but good things about their Axis, Cutlass, and now the Mariposa.

      I feel the same way. The Cutlass in particular seems like a cool alternative to a plain old strat.

      I bought an Albert Lee. Lots of value for the money. The tuners were bad. I had to replace them. I replaced the tuners and very slightly regretted it. The original pickups were fine and the SD 59's were not a huge improvement. There were some minor fit and finish issues but it wasn't a $2,000 guitar either. I'm very happy with it.

    It has 2 volume controls. One for each pick-up. No tone control.

    Just bought this guitar, love it... if anyone knows of any schematics to add push pull pots... lemme know... I'd like to split the coils, but to be honest, I'm lost without schematics. Especially in this case where I think there might be some treble bleeds in the mix...

    Nice! The Mariposa looks cool. You should try out the D'Angelico Bedford SH sometime :) Cool offset, interesting pickup combo, I'd love to see your thoughts on it!

    Interesting that this is only the second review I’ve seen of this guitar and both had QC issues with it 🤔 Love the vibes from it, but I think I’d need to try one out before opting for one having seen two less than perfect demos of it. 🥴

    • @andycowell608
      @andycowell608 Рік тому +1

      I wouldn't call intonation issues a QC issue. It probably just needs setup-- the bridges need to adjusted for the strings that have been put on.

    • @trahnettilhcs
      @trahnettilhcs Рік тому

      I had significant QC issues with mine, even after a full pro setup. From the factory, the neck was poorly shimmed with a piece of sandpaper, the strings did not align with the pickup pole pieces and the high E was too close to the edge of the board, and the tuner bolts were all incredibly loose. I loved the guitar for its feel, tones, and unique shape, but ultimately, I don’t trust Sterling as far as I can throw them.

    Looks like a combo of Albert Lee's Axe and the Nutter Astro Capt Axe.

    Usually I like almost all guitar shapes, but not here. It wouldn't keep me from getting it if it played and sounded good, but I don't like the body curves or lack there of where the neck is attached

    I became obsessed with a used music man mariposa at a local store, couldn’t agree on price after a few trips there, I think it’s a new enough model that the weird Ernie ball used price drop hasn’t happened yet but I bet in five years they’ll be sub $2k all day and incredible value. The neck on it virtually played itself and the feel of the guitar made me love the looks that I only felt so so about before I touched the guitar.

      @@amslu hadn’t looked in a while, but a little yeah! Saw one sell on reverb for $1400 but it was pink lol a handful of others sub $2k or right around $2k. Saw a couple on the guitar center website right around the $2k mark a while back too

    • @MrKevbo82
      @MrKevbo82 8 місяців тому

      @@amslu just checked guitar center there’s a blue one at $2k now too. So yeah three more years as this wild post pandemic used market dies off they’ll be $1800 easy (though the dollars changing so who knows)
