I would have stopped painting at 2 minutes and been satisfied😅 You’re an absolute unit man, and it’s awesome. As “simple” a concept as painting is, I can watch your videos for hours even if it’s a faction I don’t care about
Although I've only painted one so far to test it out, I highly recommend trying nazdreg yellow contrast over a silver basecoat, preferably one that has gone through the stages of leadbelcher, nuln oil and a drybrush of a light silver. It's a bit more work, yes, but the gold it turns out looks stunning.
Almost the same as I paint mine, I do an overbrush of retributor armour from the pot over the spray just for colour matching purposes (I’m a messy painter) and to brighten the gold a bit. Love how quickly these guys paint up, did the whole combat patrol in two weeks of lazy painting, felt like I actually accomplished something for once lol
Thanks for sharing your painting video with us. The Custodes are definitely very nice models to field and paint, for the tabletop. I'm still a Space Marines fanboy but the Emperor's bodyguard are very cool.
Thats a nice look, love that gold. might have to steal that ;) They are a fun and easy army to paint. I did the old combat patrol for the nova open charities one year. Painted 18 minis in 18 days. and they looked amazing.
Would be good to see a contrast speed paint for solar watch custodes by you! Such a cool scheme, and with a zenithal base, could get the white done like you how you did your eldar biel tan scheme...plus all the gold and red!
Another good colour for basing into bright gold, that I found through painting Guilliman & Dante, and that's Wraith/Wightbone. A nice bright cream that once you apply gold over gives a nice bright result to work up from.
I have old and new Combat Patrol boxes to make a custodes army. I was planning indeed to start with black then gold spray but I had no idea it would be possible to continue with red contrast on gold (with black contrast definitely yes, as it is covering well any other colour). Your method should be the quickest indeed, thanks a lot ! I'm impatient to start assembling and painting this army now 👍
I do something very similar for my custodes gold: Spray gold Drybrush stomhost silver all over Two all over coats of reikland fleshshade Looks fantastic
Re-asking this for visibility. In some videos you specify you prime with a rattle can and some you don't. Do you generally prime with a can or do you usually airbrush? Just curious. Love the channel ✌️
Outstanding as usual Andy I have one of these guys on my desk waiting to get painted so perfect timing as always. Do you have any colour suggestions for painting the cloak and plum purple?
If you are lucky enough to have Colour Forge range available, it’s gold is the same price as the non metallic colours, plus it’s a 500ml can! Cheers, paint scheme is very effective
I still think it's cheaper to make a Shield Captain from the regular Custodian Guard kit, as is traditional. But I must admit, the dedicated model isn't that bad a sculpt. Paints up well.
How is it the gold doesn't show through? When I use contrast over metallics it has a very obvious metallic shimmer to it but I can't see that in your video. Are my eyes playing tricks on me?

100%
Andy could be painting a garden gnome for 30 minutes, but I'm watching it.
What u mean? That sounds like a great video idea
10/10 idea

Awesome scheme Andy, very effective and wow if it’s that quick that really is something. Well done.
Lovely looking gold 👌
Looks amazing. Having painted with your method on custodes before I can vouch for how quick and effective it is
Weirdly another video from you and another army I am tempted by. Would love them alongside my Grey Knights one day
You know what this video needed? Some lore! I kid haha thats a fantastic looking scheme once again!
Hahaha I know it felt weird for me too 😂

Awesome Scheme! Thank you for the Video
Glad you liked it!

Great scheme and doesn't lose anything for being quick 🙂 congratulations yet another model I now want to paint lol
Hahaha sorry!
Excellent! Underworld Gaming are brilliant!

You’re very welcome! Yeah they’re a very cool army even if you like space marines more!
Cracking work mate
Thank you!
The golden boys !
Thats a nice look, love that gold. might have to steal that ;) They are a fun and easy army to paint. I did the old combat patrol for the nova open charities one year. Painted 18 minis in 18 days. and they looked amazing.
Steal away! Well done, that’s some good painting!

Oh interesting! Will have to try that on something

Stunning sir
Many thanks
Looks awesome, I will doing the same to mine
The mistake I make when as saying it’s leadbelcher drybrushed at the end of the gold. It’s meant to be liberator gold sorry for that.
@@MediocreHobbies So when you dry brush the all the gold , that is with liberator gold? @ 6.40

Always can. No airbrush.

I did a dwarf video recently with a purple cloak, maybe that would help?
@@MediocreHobbies prefect thanks Andy
What is the brush size / brand you're using when you're painting the evil sunz scarlett?
What paint did you use to paint the broken structure?

Yes they’re definitely cheaper! Makes it even more confusing why GW hikes the price up for the metallic ones too!

Yeah I really liked it by the end of the painting 😄
How to do base like that? Is there any guide from Andy?
it's in the description!

For which part?
@MediocreHobbies for each part the contrast goes over
cool
👍
🙌
hahahaha this Custodes Short King looks soooo silly. Chonky Gym bro.
I never understood the need to "speed paint" Custodes... I mean for a 2000 point army you have like 20 models?
Like I said in the video, some people don’t enjoy painting and just want to get playing!
@@MediocreHobbies you mean, the people we Hobbyists don't like to talk about because the do Warhammer wrong? ;) /s
Love the method sir. But that model sculpt. Not the best thing GW has released. 😂
