18:16 Cjae is correct. You're in Chinatown. Chinatown encompassed where you stayed, The SeaCare Hotel all the way to the edge of CBD before hitting Lau Pa Sat, Hong Lim Park to the other end, ending at Outram NEL MRT. There's a park opposite your hotel that has a very old secluded reservoir. Central Perk, the Friends' theme cafe was next to Holiday Inn before they closed down. Also if you double back from your hotel, there is a hawker center behind the hotel. And if you go beyond, there is a overhead bridge to go to Robertson Quay where expats like to hang out. Also if you go down the stairs to the bus stop. you could take Bus no 123 all the way to Sentosa Island straight. And nearby the area, you may find the tomb of Singapore's famous philanthropist, Tan Tock Seng as well, but that's another story. Also at 2:12 there's a small street you can cut through to go to the main area of Chinatown without circling the outer road, passing by the Childcare centre and if you go through it, you'll end up at a low cost supermarket.
Thanks for visiting Singapore! Fun fact, there are some white barricades behind you at the 8:31 mark, which serve as homes for wild otters living in the city. Crazy but true!
The food market "Lau Pa Sat" literally meant Old Market translated from Chinese dialect Hokkien. Singapore's hotel is not exactly cheap but there are smaller, basic accommodation ~$150+ range outside of CBD or Orchard Road areas or a few subway (MRT) stations away from central Singapore. Food & transport is affordable if you go for food courts at shopping malls.
Welcome to Singapore. As a Singaporean I travel a lot and I must say, the cleaning services in Singapore is amazing. I have ever reported on a dirty as F public area to one app and they clean it immediately
My travel experiences in overseas of unfamiliar countries, usual tried their local visits food and where most locals queues . At same time, speak with the people and know more - best informations than own research alone. Especially English language is easy to communicate with . Thank you for all your good comments of Singapore ‐ drinking tap water, clean country . Try our heartland shops walk about and Green Corridor Nature walks too. Eat our local Singapore food not the foreign food like the China operated Buns. There are local buns which have thinner flour wraps and more choices like TimSum. Drinking while walking are fine only not to drink in public transport like Mrt & Mrt stations & buses. Do trash your litters in our trash bins.
Some people say can drink in mrt, some say cannot. A lot of things are not strictly enforced in Singapore. If in doubt, just don't drink in front of the control stations or when you see a patrol staff. Same for crossing when there's red lights (but no cars passing or traffic police). Drinking from water bottle in mrt or jaywalking I see tons of Singapore residents do it on a daily basis.
Hi , Don't drink in mrt stations and in the trains. The rules are there for a reason to keep the trains and stations clean. Regarding u see " tons of Singapore residents do it on daily basis" I dont think they are Singaporeans. Might be tourists or foreigners who might disrespect our rules. Singaporeans know it better .
u didnt need to walk all the way to Lau Pa Sat.. u literally walked past 1 of the best food areas in Spore aka Chinatown!.... you can explore that next time :)
Hi boss, I’m a Singaporean here, just to let you know, ignore those other comments, if you are taking public transport whatsoever if you happen to buy a bottled drink doesn’t matter whether it is soft, sweet or plain, you can drink no worries, just don’t make a mess, if you wanna go shopping for like any items go to Mustafa centre, tourist spots I don’t have to tell you, you guys know it, if you wanna eat satay go to east coast lagoon food village, but tbh satay actually you guys can find it anywhere its just your preference alot of Singaporeans actually like the mutton satay. Food wise, enough with the stupid king crab, you wanna eat food in Singapore go & find out the others, like breakfast its half boiled eggs mix with ketchup & white pepper & you can eat like that or kaya spread or butter spread bread, nasi lemak, nasi sambal goreng or prata, thosai. Then there’s others like nasi jenganan. Try those.
you admit to not doing research beforehand, so cannot really fault you for some of the stuff. But do come again next time and experience more of the city (some research would be nice too)
As usual. I’ve commented many times that when foreign youtubers are here , they don’t even try/eat our local food. All they eat are food from other Asian countries like those gigantic buns ( China type) which is mainly dough. This is when I turn the video off.
next time say who you are, from australia ? age ? ... travel for live ? how you get money ? your travel budget day month year ... ? cowntrys expected to travel ... make video about that ... for old fotos to ilustrate ... #AlmasAdventures
You can walk and drink anywhere you want. Just not at public transport. Unless you are drinking plain water then you are allowed to at bus and train.
Thank you!! That’s good to know! Luckily we did only drink water at public transport stations 😅
It a pleasure. You can eat and walk too. Have fun exploring Singapore!
you actually can't drink anything on the public transport and in the train stations I remember you cannot eat/drink too.
Only plain water on public transport, sugar drinks or carbonated beverages are no no.
Been told before not to drink water at an mrt station so hydrate first before tapping into the station.

Oh what!! That’s so cool i wish we knew that. We did see the otter signs around the lake but never saw any

Food courts where very reasonable prices

We will make sure to try Singaporean food next time we visit!

@@TheBackpackersPassport Hi, no problem at all ! Welcome back to SG anytime🩷 Safe travels🙏
Those look like Shandong buns, which consist of a lot more dough proportions than the local buns, as well most of the other menu items, tons of dough!
The dough to filling ratio was definitely off 😅 still yummy though!
It’s a wet market…..u are in Little India, I supposed
Thank you 🙏
u didnt need to walk all the way to Lau Pa Sat.. u literally walked past 1 of the best food areas in Spore aka Chinatown!.... you can explore that next time :)
Definitely next time! 😍
You can walk and drink in Singapore but its a frown upon action in Japan.
We see plenty of locals walking and drinking in Japan
Now you are in china town.
Thank you 🙏

He is wrong. No drinks allowed in MRT train !! U can Google to confirm!!
The sign so prominent in MRT and buses says "NO Food or Drinks" one can be fined up to SGD500.
@@TheBackpackersPassport No undue worries. As you are not a local, you probably will get a warning only.
you admit to not doing research beforehand, so cannot really fault you for some of the stuff. But do come again next time and experience more of the city (some research would be nice too)
We will definitely be back. We loved our time in this beautiful country

Next time for sure 👍
They are missing out all the Singaporean food
I know 🥲 we will definitely be doing things differently when we return!
Just so you know... "bao" just means bun. So when you say "I'm eating bao bun" you are saying you're eating bun bun.
🤣🤣 so they are selling bun bun’s as well?
The food they eat not even local food. At least i dun eat. Its northern china cruisine, not singapore food
We will do better next time we promise 🙏
Video contrast looks too low.
Appreciate the feedback

Nay only touristy areas are clean.
