I think with handguns, I doubt your rocking more then two or three mags anyway. For an actual service rifle, you want to kill/wound, not tickle to death. Besides, who's using the 4.6 or 5.7 at two hundred yards?? Why not just use that 5.56 your AR is using??
@@georgewhitworth9742 you're misunderstanding it- more than a pistol, not a replacement for a rifle. At the time (2017 feels like yesterday but still) the main piston options were mcx, scarL, bren version 1, and cmmgs stuff, seemed like a no brainer ive wanted this gun since mw2 days and its in solid caliber and i reload so it was easy at the time but 7 years later and i haven't been able to shoot it for almost 2 years from a lack of ammo. Moral of the story BUY PRACTICAL
A couple tiny mag-in-grip PDW's thats purpose built to fire AP projectiles that i haven't seen Ian do a video on yet: The Swedish 6.5mm CBJ-MS and the Russian PP-2000 9mm.
Shoutout to the Mauser schnellfeuer gang
I remember when the TP9 was imported by I believe it was DSA and they cost $800, then B&T set up their own US subsidiary and started importing them themselves and the price more than doubled overnight and now they cost $2,200. As much as I love the design and would love to have one, I refuse to pay the massively overinflated price for one.
Ian: What's GarandThumb up to todaaaaaaa OH HELL NO!!!!!
TP9 is the type of the gun you eventually get like a Benelli M3 after you gave up on the SPAS 12 dream.
The mf always rushing others base gun:
I really liked this comparison, nicely done Ian. I like how you pointed out how there are a lot of firearms that are a better alternative to the MP7.
last time i came this early i was paying child support
Last time I read this comment was 10 minutes ago
I saw this same comment on garand thumb like a hour ago
@@griffithguns1776ladies and gentlemen, we got him.
hold up i saw almost the same comment under today's garand thumb video on mp7, coincidance?
@@arzi2 no lol
Good to see Leon s Kennedy was given quality from the merchant.
Blink twice if HK hurt you, Ian!
End screen, lol. Thank you Ian.
That MP9 looks like the Steyr TMP from Counter-Strike. I looked it up just now and see the MP9 is a derivative by Brügger & Thomet who bought TMP design from Steyr. The TMP was not a great weapon in Counter-Strike, but of course video games mostly mess up weapons for balance reasons.
Ironically, the MP9 is the best SMG currently in CSGO/CS2
Glad to see and hear about the MP9, I'd love to see a full video on it, and the TMP
The things almost everyone misses about the 4.6 and 5.7- half the ammo weight of 9mm and 25-200 zero.
A lot of the poor reputation of the rounds is people either compare a 5.7pistol to a 9mm or to an AR- it wasn't designed to compare directly just fill a gap by being easier to shoot than a pistol and lighter than a rifle.
The MP9 is based on the design of the Steyr TMP, which the Swiss bought from Steyr in 2001. This means an Austrian design won in Gun Jesus' mind over a German design. As an Austrian this makes me very happy 🙂
Point of order: A pistol with a vertical foregrip but no buttstock is an AOW. Same process, different category.
Just order it without the FG.
@schlemihlrosenzweig3780 I should have time stamped it, but at one point about ¾ the way through the video Ian says something about getting the MP9 without the front grip "unless you want to register it as an SBR".
@@robwilkes3351 The one shown has a folding stock which is probably why Ian said SBR.
its not a vertical grip, its an angled grip
I got to shot the MP7 while still serving in the Bundeswehr and i must say its amazing
At 2:57 you slipped and said "4.7mm cartridge."
i feel like a pdw in 7.5 brno would be a real game changer
PM-63 was already PDW, even before PDW was invented.
Glad to hear this take. Much needed.
Yes, but the MP7 has a sliding stock and folding foregrip, so the MP7 wins under the rule of cool. It's just packaged so nicely, even if it's longer and heavier than other pistol PDWs.
Which apparently the stock is kind of garbage.
the problem is the mp7 stock keeps sliding when you use it
Thats funny because the stock is the part that bracks all the time 🤣🤣🥰
I've been around long enough to remember the MP9 as a (very) compact SMG offering by Steyr.
Loved it's ascetic then, love it's refreshed version now.
How are you not going to list the vz 61 skorpion at the end?
Yeah, my mistake. I would unironically take a vz61 over an MP7.
All hail the Klobb
At this point (major guntubers hating on the MP7) I'm convinced that this is just an elaborate plan to bully HK into realeasing a semi-MP7 just out of spite
9mm... what is this 1964? If want a 9mm MP I'll get me a Steyr TMP... wait a minute... it is Steyr TMP.
I haven’t spent any time with mp7 or T7 but I do have a b&t TP9N (civilian MP9 SBR) and I LOVE it is light fast low recoil a truly great pdw and I love it!
Lets not forget about all the issues the MP7 has. Grandthumb highlighted this.
GT is a fake and a feaud
What we really need is an updated MP9 and a version of it in 5.7
Just finished the zach hazzard video on the tommybuilt civilian mp7 and for 4 thousand dollars with all the failures I would never ever get one.
Saw zach Hazzards video then grand thumbs now ian whats going on😅

A friend of mine who used the MP7 in the Bundeswehr loved it to bits. Though if I were to get something for plinking I would not see a reason to sell a kidney to fire unobtainium rounds through paper.
With the outro through, the people now demand a ballistic gel comparison between the MP7 and a C96.
It has to be done.
Yeah but the ladies love the MP7. Praise Gun Jesus.
Every advantage of the TP9 is completely outweighed by the worst trigger mankind has ever produced.
Yeah, the MP9 trigger is not bad as a machine pistol trigger, but not good for a semiauto.
@@ForgottenWeapons Dont you think that this small fact should have been mentioned in your presentation?
Almost like it's mostly made for military and LE. Just like the semi auto FN SAW, that's the only reason to buy it.
@@badgerservices9665 Both guns are are made for military and law enforcement. Even when it comes to that, the B and T which is based on the Styer design is better.
Gigliotti Rifleworks has a short stroke trigger replacement for the TP9 that apparently is a night and day difference.
You and garand thumb dropping mp7 videos on the same day.
Coincidence? I think not!!
Now... hear me out what about an MP10? I want a PDW in 10mm, the 10mm is almost the ideal pdw round in my book, especially when loaded with the really zippy lighter bullets, you practically get .30 carbine performance.
H&K made a 10mm version of the MP5, don’t know if they ever sold a civilian version. Grand Power offers a 10mm Stribog. OG’s Danger Show reviewed one recently.
@@michaelprather8371 yup, there's also a 10mm version of the Kriss Vector and a handfull of 10mm pccs on the market. What I really want though is a compact stocked firearm like the MP9 but chambered in 10mm. Honestly something like the B&T USW or flux raider (flux used to make a brace for large frame glocks but those are basically unobtainium) would also be amazing in 10mm, the stocked pistol concept should absolutely make a comeback but with more modern materials and engineering (and it is to some degre thanks to pistol braces)
@@death31313 Now imagine what 9x25 mm dillon in such PDW could do, 2000 ft/sec in a pistol length barrel with Underwood 90 Xtreme Defender and 2200 ft/sec in a 10 inch barrel.
@@dieyproductions4403 I like it, a large frame PDW just makes a lot of sense. If you have the extra stability of a stock, why not squeeze a little bit more performance out of the system by bumping up to a large frame the same way they did in the golden era of stocked pistols.
RCM makes a 10mm MP5K sized barrel. You can build it...
I remember back when the B&T MP9 was the Steyr TMP.
If I had a nickel for every time Garand Thumb and Forgotten Weapons posted a video on the same subject in the same day, I'd have two nickels... Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice!
Yes.
