- 80+ PSI on a Four Cylinder Engine cranking out 1500 Horsepower is absolutely ABSURD! Being Absurd is how Boostin Performance’s 2nd Generation DSM earned it’s well known name as the RED DEMON! This car only gets Faster and FASTER everytime we see it! Back at Chitown’s King of the STREETS at Great Lakes Dragway, Devin and the Red Demon entered into the BANGER’s Class to try and take home the win! I own a very well build 2g AWD in the 600hp range. I can tell you that had i magically had the near 30 THOUSAND dollars back in my pocket before my dsm obsession began? I'd have went and bought a C5 A/T, tear down, balanced/rods/pistons/ Full head work w appropriate L19 studs. Cam(funny.........only 1 cam......) and any roller rocker/pushrod thingamajigs needed. After a full build AND a scroll type supercharger, fuel change to e85 etc etc etc.. i'd be under 30k and have a MUCH more reliable car. FACT.
But, i can't help it. I fn love the feel of these awd rockets. They're FUN. Something about an awd car with a shitload of boost, tuned right(of course) is just way way way different than any v6 or v8 rwd car.
BIG RESPECT to the red demon driver because he's MAN ENOUGH to keep the manual transmission instead of being a little girl and making excuses how autos are faster and consistent and blah blah blah! This fucking guy can drive!
It's one hell of a M/T. NLTS Straight cut dog box. Actually, and oddly enough, with his power and trap speed he couldn't possibly use an auto. Not any variation of a factory auto would cut it. Even revving out to 11k rpm 3rd gear would only take him so far and he'd be well out of peak torque by then. That is why the absolute fastest DSMs are manual. The only reason. If the stock A/T was a 4 speed PLUS OD then they'd be using auto without a doubt.
Its a dog box, means he isnt using the clutch to shift so it may as well be an auto. They shouldnt allow dog boxes in that class.
mazder0 still nowhere near an auto because he still has the H pattern gear box which means he can still miss shift like a regular manual. So no! It will might not be an auto!
96cobrasvtRJ you can not miss a shift with a dog box unless it breaks. The shift pattern is irrelevant. A dog box is actually better than an auto because not as much power loss through it. Drive a car with a dog box and you will see what i mean.
mazder0 never driven a dog box but I have seen people not being able to put it in gear sometimes because the gearing is rougher and like I said H pattern does make a difference compared to straight up and down shift Pattern box

What the fuck is holding the head of the engine on and keeping the gasket from failing at 80psi??!! I know full billet blocks and internals are most likely used so the engine doesnt blow up under all that boost, but the head is still the big mystery.

Meth wouldnt keep the cylinder head down from from all that boost pressure. 1/2" studs definitely seems plausible, but there has to be more to it than that. Most ive ever heard even with that is around 45 to 50. 80 is just insane!

There really are no AWD dynos with tuners who actually frickin' KNOW DSMLINK and SD programming. I am at a solid 600 crank and do not want to run this thing in(tuning) on the street. If y'all were in springfield i'd drive her up to ya! Maybe next spring i'll take a family vacation up to chicago. Trailer the car up, drop it off, do your magic, and i'll eat pizza and do some sight seeing with the kid/wife downtown, pick the car up when you're done..... we'll see. Red Demon is looking amazing. Are you running that Australian companie's billet '63 block? 85 psi? Things start to wiggle at those pressures. Not necessarily the head, i've heard the actual deck "wobbles", as he put it, at pressures like that.

stock Block and cylinder walls. The rotating assembly well that's a different story. Not all Hondas, GM LS engines and Subaru STI blocks some other blocks as well as the 4B11 have to be sleeved. some times you have to sleeve the Block to run high boost and that cost extra money on top of the build Worth it just depends on the block. 4G63T 💪

...he said the suspension and transfercase is stock, not that hard to believe, making a billet transfercase including gears would probably cost close to what his car probably costs lol and having complete aftermarket suspension would also turn it into a pro mod since there isn't much left, and would cost an arm and a leg for no reason.
