I don't think Putin would go begging to NK if he didn't consider going begging to China first. It might be that Russia and NK's new "friendship" is a move that China doesn't necessarily support, at all. I think China would rather hold both NK and Russia on a much tighter leash. All of these "alliances" that are mostly only united in being anti-west are very frail indeed.
Putin met with China a few weeks back was on the news.

Desperate is an understatement. If Putin isn't ousted and this war isn't ended, Russia's economy will turn to dust, and there will be no young men to rebuild the counties wealth.
