  • We launch the Adam Smith series of Economic Briefings in this, the tercentenary of his birth. Gerard Lyons is a leading international economist based in the UK, with over thirty years’ experience in high profile roles in both the City and public policy. We are delighted to welcome him back to kick off our 2023 series, after two previously sold-out and well reported talks.
Gerard has in-depth knowledge of China and Asia and will share with us his views on what lies ahead. He has been visiting Asia since 1989 when, after being Chief U.K. economist at Swiss Bank Corporation, he joined the Japanese bank Dai-Ichi-Kangyo - then the world’s largest bank - as Chief Economist at DKB International, where he established its global economic coverage. While there, he predicted Japan’s Lost Decade and had a regular column in the Nikkei Weekly.”
