In the second segment of our Adam Smith Series, we are privileged to be joined by renowned economists, George Magnus and Eamonn Butler. Adam Smith was an influential Scottish economist and philosopher who is widely regarded as the father of modern economics.
This year marks the tercentenary of his birth, however, Smith's contributions to political economy continue to shape economic theory and policy discussions to this day. His theories emphasised the power of free markets, advocating for limited government intervention and individual freedom.
Using the themes of Adam Smith’s work as a framework, our speakers provide their thoughts on contemporary global economics.
    Discussion Topics:
    - How Adam Smith's principles can offer solutions to modern economic dilemmas
    - Bridging the gap between classical economic theory and the realities of the 21st century
    - Evaluating how Adam Smith's principles can shed light on the challenges and opportunities presented by China's economic influence
    - Discussing the potential implications of China's economic policies, innovation, and strategic initiatives on the global economic landscape
    - The positive role governments can and must play
